@@ina_doesstuff those words have same meaning. Tzar in Russian means "Emperor", same as Kaiser in German being derivative of "Caesar". Its just way of thought called "exotification", when some butchered native language term is used instead of proper translation. We, in Japanese also have Tennou = Koutei = Sumerogi = Sumera-no Mikoto = Kinrisama = Oo-Kimi = Emperor. In case of my translation, I chose the word, that rhytmically was most appropriate in my opinion.

@@tellurius4951 Yes, because Russian "defended" country by burning their cities (and not only their like for ex. Ryga, Smoleńsk, Połock) and vilagesn, and also still run away away. I'm fully agree with you, French had to retreat, and were finally defeated. But who made it was impowerished, wild, empty Russia, and not Russians. It is huge contrast between what this war is shown, and what reality was (mainly imagined in "War and Peace").
@@krzysztofmichniewicz6247 What part of 'Grand Army" do you not understand. It was a coalition of like 12 nations soldiers. The fact the Russians could offer any defense to such a force at that time was astounding. Of course they gave up Moscow but took all the supplies and burnt the city so they could not winter there.
@@samsmith2635 So why you writing about they "stand their ground", when just a bit later you had to say they had to gave up Moscow? That's how to defense city before enemy? By burning them... Moscow wasn't such a lose, it was clearly Russian city. But Vilnius or Smolensk!? It wasn't only Russian heritage, and they simply burned the city, not French. Of course, war is war, and it was succesful, but they proved that Napoleon said about them as primitives, and making war cruel in areas wich it isn't necessary is simply barbaric way. That's what Russians did in their own, and country "defense". About nations in Grand Armee there were Germans, Poles, Lithuanians, Italians, with addiction of Portugese and Spanish and of course French. On Russian side fought Russians, Lithuanians, Tatars, Poles, Mongols, Finnish, Ruthenians or Belarusians, Germans, all of them forced or joined russian army. There's no such difference. Napoleon entered in june, since july it was clear that he was pushing trough Moscow, and a Russians weren't able to make a wooden fences to protect their soldiers on the redoubts, it was too short, so Russians were perfect aims from down to storming French etc, etc, about wich standing its ground are you talking about Dude?
I disagree my friend. Russia would not be the military and industrialized super power it is now, if Tsar was in power. i am sorry, but the Tsars Only worried about THEIR Well-Being, and they Lost the confidence of the people, but also drew their Anger. Soviet Russia is the past, but its contribution (for better and worse) will be felt by russians for Generations to come.

@@cgt3704 true that but don't forget that the RSFSR was the main nation in the USSR while the rest was just puppet Republic whose leaders where selected by the RSFSR who could also change the leaders if they were not loyal to them. Il faut prendre cette musique pour ce qu'elle est : c'est un chant de guerre pour le Régiment Preobrazhensky. C'est un chant de marche pour encourager les soldats à suivre le tsar qui mène ses soldats à la bataille. On pourrait comparer cet air à la Marseillaise dont le titre original était Chant de guerre pour l'armée du Rhin. Une chose est certaine; c'est un chant de guerre pour encourager les soldats à se battre et nous pouvons en admirer la mélodie qui est très belle et les paroles.

Tsarist Russia had more connections with the western powers than Modern day Russian Federation, makes you think how different would have Russia been today if it wasn't for the Bolshveks. Tsarist Russia and Communism are both parts of our long and sad history it shaped the Russian Federation we know today, I don't feel pity nor hate towards our history I just simply accept it as fact and take pride in it and in our country.
