Bro, Russia has captured more territory in the last three weeks than Ukraine has in their entire counter offensive. So far, in the last 6 months Russia has gained over 700sq Km of land, not even including the land they just captured in Kharkov. Some of the territory of which is some of the most heavily fortified, like Avdeevka for example, which in itself was captured remarkably fast.

Military summary mentioned that some officials said Ukraine won’t fight for the border lands and fall back to Kharkiv, interesting that you two have different opinions on this. Kharkiv will most likely be in artillery range very soon and will probably be captured by the end of the summer I think. I also don’t see them holding the villages you think they’ll fight for. The manpower is too low, they will trade ground for time to build defences, and as a way to guilt NATO and USA to send more money/weapons. Even though there will be no one to use those weapons soon, the money will find some corrupt pockets so no worries there.

Russia’s assault on Kharkov has been coming for some time, and now stands poised to dislodge the entirety of the frontlines in the SE of Ukraine. The Russian Army has made a significant amount of progress in the village of Liptsy, in the Kharkov region in the last few days, forcing clumsy and hurried retreats on behalf of the UAF. Liptsy is a strategically important village, as it borders logistical waterways and connects a number of important roads to the SW and W of the new front. The Russian momentum on the village is expected to fully liberate it in the coming days.

In fact, Hungary was a power in name only. They were never allowed to give an emperor. So, Hungary is already in its rightfull territory. I think Russia will give them back the region Stalin gave to Ukraine and that would be all. @violetamih8617 Not trying to pick a fight, but under the Austro-Hungaian Empire, the established boundaries of Hungary were set mainly along the lines of those areas that had historically been part of the Kingdom of Hungary prior to the Ottoman invasions. It was a combination of demographic changes, the rise of nationalism among many ethnic groupings, and the loss of the First World War that led to the borders that we see today.

Some residents of Ukrainian villages are being evacuated, becoming refugees. And some of them wait out the military operations in the basements, and then perceive the Russian troops as liberators. But if earlier refugees could quite easily cross back across the border and get to their homes, now Russia does not let anyone back in. Because many saboteurs came under the guise of returning. Now all Ukrainians can get to Russia only through Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport, where they and their gadgets are checked for 20 hours or more. About 30% are refunded by buying them a ticket back to where they came from.

It is somewhat concerning that the russians use such a small force in kharkiv region. The ukranians will send units proportional to the advancing force, which means around 10k...which is small to have the desired effect, namely to spread defending forces thin. So either they attack from at least 5 more direction, or it will be no use.

I don't understand the optimism in the comment section. I have been following this war for two years and I am not impressed by russian progress at all. If they don't take Kiev and Odessa this war is a failure because then NATO borders will have shifted east all the way up to the Djnepr. And now with all the drone attacks I wonder if there will be any russian soldier left by the time they reach the Dnjepr. I think it is more likely that if I check in on the war a year from now that the frontlines will be uncomfortably close to where they are right now. Lets face it : Russia is not the super power we assumed it to be.
