This dance is for goddess Durga during her worship of 10days inBengal , India. We still practice it every year , it is world famous and unesco heritage . This movie is however based on a 1920novel. Goddess Durga is a fierce form of mother goddess who was manifested to kill a demon called mahish who was causing chaos in the heaven . She riding on a lion and with her thousand hands and weapons in all slayed mahish along with his whole army. Women are the power of Hindu culture.

@@michaelscott6357 This is Indian movie. And this song is describing the culture of West Bengal which is a state in India. It has nothing to do with Bangladesh. Don't get confused between Bangladesh and West Bengal. Bangladesh is a seperate country and West Bengal is a State in India.

Unless you care to specify the difference, I don't agree. A manmade imaginary border doesn't mean shit in this case. Only borders that matter are the continents themselves, problem is that some of those states in those continents assume they are bigger than they actually are. Look at Russia and Ukraine for example.

You'll probably enjoy so many more songs, like Maula mere maula mere, breathless ( by shankar mahadevan) who sang that in one breath, then there are so many great artists like, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, SHreya Ghoshal (a singer in this song plus a freaking legend), Alka Yagnik (also a singer in this song), kishore kumar (an old time great), Sonu Nigam ( another legend) and also the nightingale of India Lata mangeshkar ( another legend).
