I attended Martins seminar in Torquay last night. Haven’t seen him since he was a brown belt in Kenpo, but he hasn’t changed a bit. He is still one of the nicest, unassuming people I have been fortunate to have known in my life. Superb person, and a superb martial artist. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Hi Martin, Looking good as always. If you ever have a chance to visit Fl. I'd like to have you run a workshop at my studio. I always enjoy working with you and Kenpo/Systema. Steve
What he does is truly beautiful as kicking ones ass can be I assume the amount of self control he has and situational awareness he has is brilliant. I would love to have that type of training available for my children and myself. It's just beautiful. I've said this before it almost like watching underwater ballet but seems Mr wheeler is the only one whom can swim, or breath.
We live in glory days my friends. So much is open from the taking. There was a time when Indonesia was very friendly with Soviet advisors. Supposed psychic methods seen used in systema we also find in systems like Hongp Dremo and Yellow Bamboo in Java. One thing to remember! Strong faith in higher power. And to remain calm. If your in a high emotional state ones mind can be carried away. If you are good hearted/righteous. Fear not! Take the first step and you shall be met on the tenth.
All the time. And some people outside of seminars have been known to use real knives. the training always starts slow. it gets fast at the seminars, but if you see it on video, you won't see anything at all.
This looks ridiculous. People are falling like they got hit by a sledgehammer. It reminds me of soccer matches when they feign a foul and flop down grabbing their leg. However I did roll with Martin at my BJJ acadamy once and he kicked my butt. He is a higher belt than me anyway, but he is strong as an ox and very good.
If you research systema and see what it is and the concept of the art you'll under stand why it's because they are being hit with a ton of force but unlike other martial arts systema strikes are made from a state of being relaxed instead of tensing up their muscles. It's more of a holistic type of art focused on remaining relaxed through breathing which keeps you from having that adrenaline dump.
@@scarred10 Yep.. I gave systema an honest effort for a year, and I promise you its bullshit. They absolutely will not try these movements against a non-compliant opponent. If you offer the slightest bit of resistance to any of them they lose their fucking minds and ask "Why are you fighting?!?!" Dead serious, my instructor said that many times. When he told me I was being "too combative" I decided it was time to pull the plug. Too combative.... in a martial arts class. Let that sink in.
@@Richard-sf3gqsystema is not a martial art on its own... it is a system that is applied to the background of something you already know... martin and others are efficient because they also have training in other martial arts... systema does not teach you stances or techniques or anything like that it literally is unique to the person and teaches you how to react instinctively. it pays off greatly to already be trained in another martial art because you can fuse them and apply systema in the background...all systema teaches you is to breath properly which will also control your emotions and keep fear away and that will also keep you relaxed and have no tension... those things all tie together like a system and that's what it is really about.
