Russia has had FOBS systems in play since the SS-18 went online. This is designed as an anti-sat/EMP weapon. What most don't realize is that any Teller-Ulam thermonuclear detonated as a high atmospheric airburst will have this effect. This is not new, nor is it terrifying. Literally been around since at least the early '80's.
@@redredwine1054You know Putin never directly talks about nukes? The headlines you see are always his RESPONSES when he is asked to comment about US/EU politicians talking about nukes. At least that's how 'nuke' talks started 🙃 now the cats out of the bag
I feel confused, a few months ago the news came out that the Russians had run out of missiles there, even the infantry was fighting with shovels. Now I find them threatening open space. Isn't this magic?
Us propaganda designed to continue public support on both ends. On one hand we should spend more on military because they are almost finished but on the other hand we should spend more because they are such a threat.
Wait, wait , wait. I remember that MSM said that there are no rockets left in Russia and Ukraine says that they use microchips from washing machines for rockets and now I have to believe that Russia builds nuke weapons in space with the same chips from microwaves and washing machines that are being stolen from Ukraine? Am i getting it right?
Well you have to consider the added expense of all those the USA bribes….. just to keep things in perspective. And the USA’s budget likely supports a number of other countries’ militaries.
depending on the language culture. As we always say, if we do something America can disagree. But if America wants to do something, we have to agree. Otherwise it means we are not friends and America will invite friends to impose sanctions on us. This is the double standards of the dictatorial king's democratic ideology. So starfish for certain people might be starship.
@@wishunter9000 Notice how they called it "Starfish Prime" in the chapters... They made thiny slip ups in reporting before you know. I find it ironic how you care so much about this one screw up yet place no emphasis on the otherwise excellent video...
Im not here to defend Russia but having no cultural analysis in any of these news stories is mind numbing. Russia has been historically anti-nuclear in terms of space and seen it as a joint venture. At the height of the cold war there were countless joint space missions for gods sake. Many russians still see space as the ultimate frontier and the pride of their nation for their early achievements in space flight. A nuclear attack would be indiscriminate and damage russian assets equally. Damaging the last of their presence in orbit would be unthinkable for Russia, unless in an all out war of course.. .
Even the Boeing X-37 robotic space planes...have been carrying out such tests for years. And can be used to eliminate their satellites. If true...this would just be levelling the playing filed again, and is unlikely to work in the way fear-mongered s it makes zero sense. The nuke-powered battery EMP-Satellite however makes more sense.
I find it absolutely hilarious that these people are freaking out about it and making a big deal. You know we've probably had nukes in space for at least 5-8 years already.
Thought this was a thing in 1970s. Nuclear weapons in space wouldn’t really require Russia to develop any new weapon components. EMP would have a huge impact on society. Don’t know what the new intelligence is and not sure why it was brought upon a public forum.
Yeah this is not new, every nation with nuclear weapons can do this. Both the USSR and the United States detonated nukes in space, we don’t do this now because it would hurt everyone plus kill people in the Chinese space station and the international space station. In summery it’s just dumb to do in our modern era.
That assumes that its even a nuclear weapons platform. Creating space debris is dangerous to all the world. The Chinese boasted of a laser to disable them, but a controlled EMP with a Faraday cage protecting its electronics if devised would be the most effective, non violent non damaging way to get what you want without crossing lines.
So I guess, the Russian Strategic Shovels Program is more dangerous than the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture or PWSA, a program undertaken by the Space Development Agency
@@maxbounce I am not sure that's why I am asking... Maybe they are planing to transport used shovels from Chernobil and target USA with those radiated shovels by throwing them from space. But then they would have to transport like millions of them from space, right 😂😂😂
Wouldn't that ignite a direct full-scale war with the United States of America? One has to think what tremendous capabilities the U.S. has today if they achieved Starfish Prime over 6 decades ago.
@@Neo...... 🤔 nuclear blast in space will fry all unprotected satellites as what was explained happened in 1960. There’s no barriers in space so the radiation or disturbance will travel fast and strong.
... I don't think that would solve this particular issue idk how much of this you watched or took in. The solution to too much radiation isn't to pour even more on lol.
They've had an anti-satellite capability for years. You've never heard of the satellite that releases another and then that releases another that could be used as a kinetic impactor at short notice (cosmos 2519, 2521, cosmos 2542, 2543 + rocket powered projectile)? Apparently this 'newer' threat is nuclear powered, not a nuclear (explosive) weapon. Enough power to jam satellites over a large area, to prevent surveillance, not to physically destroy them.
Nah, it's the other way around. Whenever Russia accuses anyone of anything there's a near-100% chance they have done that very same thing themselves, are currently doing it, or are about to do it in the immediate future.
Exactly! This is definitely the military industrial complex getting one of their intelligence buddies to scare everyone into opening their wallets for "protection". We've been drawing up and bragging about theoretical space weapons for decades on top of having active programs like the X47b and SR72. The US, Russia, and China have all demonstrated they can shoot down satellites many years ago and how it would cause a domino effect taking out everyone's satellites. It's the part where they keep stressing its nuclear that gives it away as no real threat at all and just your everyday fear mongering
@Neo...... oh, you think just because there's a "treaty" that would stop us?? You tapped there tons of rules/ agreements that the US don't follow. They'll just never tell you
I choose not to take them seriously. WSJ as with all other media, are for-profit and will sell whatever brings in the revenue, or whatever capitulates with the current power. Recommend: listen to sources, but give credence only to fact-based believability. I always ask: What are your sources.
As much money as the U.S. spends on defense (more than the 9 counties combined) we should have to worry about anything from anywhere. In all fairness to the military, half of it probably never leaves the DC area. Didn't we see this in Space Cowboys?
I'm sure they leave the DC area, but they go back to that area because that's where all the defense companies that sell to the military and government are headquartered.
it's not that we spend more than any other country. it's that the other countries don't spend a dime on their own defense and rely on a 100 year old alliance to watch their backs.
When the US does this: Look at this, we made something that will keep the world align. When other countries does this: THIS IS DESTABLIZING, THIS IS TYRANNY!!!
Did you ever pause to think of why that is? Russia, Iran, China, North Korea are totalitarian societies that invade and threaten neighboring countries, throw journalists in prison and 'disappear' opposition political candidates. The US... well, come to think of it, that's pretty much what the Democrats are doing.
moreover, some of their population in far regions do not have gas and heating to this day. so it may seem rich for the rich ones and poor for those who's poor (=the majority of russians)
Funny how liberals laughed at Trump when he announced the creation of the Space Force. Now liberals are scrambling to blame him for (supposedly) Russian space nukes...😂😂😂
Biden had a bad week and they needed help earlier than expected. Im betting the October surprise will be some way to halt the election...you know...to protect the democracy or something.🙄🙄🙄🙄
As usual, it takes some time for us to get the full picture. Russian MoD recently reported to Putin they identified about 50 military, and 250 commercial satellites that actively participate in the war against them. They didn't specify how, only that this is an issue we need to "resolve".
Russian nuclear weapons in space could cause emp's that could blackout the US electrical grid; and it only requires one mid size one over the central US at an altitude of 200 miles above earth. The widespread grid blackout would interrupt food supplies for weeks; of which grocery stores only carry 3 days worth at any given time - resulting in mass starvation of the general populace.
WSJ, what did the U.S. do to cause Russia to do this? Back in 1962, the U.S. placed nukes near Russia's border which started The Cuban missile crisis. When the U.S. removed the nukes, the Cuban missile crisis ended.
The issue isn't the US's response. It's the response of Russia's new owner, China. They won't be too happy knowing their growing space capabilities are at risk due to the meth-head just north of them.
@@ray017ray017 dude you are literally reading the comments and thinking, ah I need to have an opinion on this guys opinion. How am I the one wasting my time!
The Fine Print: Politicians are looking to cash in on sweetheart deals with aerospace companies to create a countermeasure. Media promotes stories like this for public buy-in. (To bad that contract cash can't be put towards Jim and Jane American.)
America took the first shot in space with the creation of the, and it's almost impossible to say without laughing, the "Space Force". Until America, as Americans like to say, "do better", the world remains at risk.
Well my question is, when are we as a planet of humans, together, stop hating and waring and killing one another??? When will we move forward with positive energy and realize that we all benefit by working together and being ONE FAMILY, HUMAN!!! No war!, no killing, no more!! Imagine that! And our higher dimensional brothers and sisters can come and help us along our way, being a part of a PEACEFUL galactic FAMILY!!!! It's primarily old energy world leaders holding us back!!!! May Love and Peace be ours, ALL OF US, SOONER rather than LATER! The choice is ours!!!
I would settle for an ounce of peace. The U.S. and the world is consumed with hate, greed, and power. Nearly all of our elected politicians are full board corrupt and don't even bother hiding it anymore. We are headed fast down that one way street called Rapture: Trials and Tribulations. That time can't come soon enough.
Maybe it's YOU who is still on the gross/primal plane with your perceptions... Do you call the tide evil when it engulfs the beach? Or the Sun a tyrant when it bares down you on a blistering day? What's the difference between a human taking a life compared to old age ending it? I don't fully subscribe to these ideas, but they are interesting nonetheless. I seek to try see things without bias.
As stated, they don't have as much to lose compared to the US. Brief googling says US has over 7000 satellites while Russia has around 200. It's also more doable to add radition protection (like the US gov does for its important satellites) for 200 satelittes vs 7000.
@@AJ-jx5gm This is false. Most of their satellites are huge, complex and in Geo-Synchronous orbit - this gives them a much wider range and field of view - hence only need for a few. Small satellites dominate LEO (low earth orbit) while large satellites dominate GEO. TheUS actually has 2,926, most of which are in LEO. many belonging to private companies like SpaceX. The whole EU (ESA) has only 62, with just 12 in GEO.
I think I remember that.. I know there have been many attempts to bring down starlink systems via intrusion as shooting them down one at a time would be a waste of time, but seemingly none have been very successful with active management. They had more success bringing Canadian power grids offline. For whatever reason. Spite, I guess lol.
It can be helpful to notice that the opposite of what Putin says is very often a true and useful communicate. So "we have always been categorically against and are now against the deployment of nuclear weapons in space" should read: "we are confident and invested to the deployment and use of nuclear weapons in space". It takes only a moment to learn. Another example could be "We do not have any intention to invade Ukraine, these are just exercises"... we all already know what he really meant.
The Outer Space Treaty isn't worth the paper on which it was printed. We can fully expect adversary states such as North Korea to deploy offensive weapons in Earth Orbit as soon as they're capable, so it should come as no surprise that Russian EMP nukes are already in orbit and waiting to be detonated. This is not an absolute panic-worthy concern, though, as we have assets in place ready to find, hack and redirect those offensive satnukes to a more isolated orbit to destroy them there. And in the rare case where we can't find them in time to prevent an EMP blast from affecting the Western Hemisphere, we can safeguard our most important and sensitive information and equipment with Faraday cages anr airgapping to prevent any infiltration, either by wireless or physical contact. The resulting damage to our infrastructure and loss of life will be mitigated, and our subsequent recovery from such an incident will be accelerated. So basically, even in the face of despair there can be found hope.
Grandpa what are you talking about? Outer space treaty is one of the most respected treaties in existence. North korea could have put nukes in space a long time ago. Russia could have done it in the 60s. Come on man. Stop spreading fear. This Russian weapon probably isn't nuclear in nature.
See the thing is the space force does not have weapons in space what the space force does is make sure American 🇺🇸 satellites are safe from Russian and Chinese threats, the space force also launches satellites into space for the ( DOD ), as well as keeping GPS safe and running.
@@Skankhunt42-xl9fq Yeah right, put a army into space with no weapons on it, that's like fighting ww3 with no ammunition, this government doesn't fool me nor do I trust it and I'm a American.
Because America needs complete dominance. A multipolar world can't exist, if the elites in the west no longer call the shots it's war till they do, or they selfdestruct
So the US spends TRILLIONS on it's military, more than all other countries combined, and they are worried about something that they somehow didn't think about??? I want my money back. I'll take hundered dollar bills if you don't mind...
"Putin denies that there are nukes in space" - well, now I'm scared... the best proof that Moscow is working on it, is them saying they aren't. If they had said they already had them in space, I'd be totally calm because it would mean that they have no idea how to do it.
The EMP weapon in the space is very old, I believe Rusia have a new way to generate electromagnetic pulses, we see in the evolved of Rusia electronic warfare.
@@darkNovaskarthis is fake intel to get more aid for Ukraine. Russia isn’t a threat to the US now, so they have to create a threat. Scare the people into believing that Russia is a real threat and they will approve of hundreds of billions of dollars for Ukraine. And it will also help Biden come election time.
I don't think Russia is a threat to USA Russia has its own interests just like USA or any other big country. US should sit down and talk to Russia frequently.
not only is there zero proof... this as always been possible since the mid1960's.... do not think this something 'new'. any ICBM can be programmed to launch and then park in Orbit around the earth, since the early 1970's. basic orbital astrophysics. i ask, why is everyone Suprised by this 'news'? and insane lack of science education among the the sad human race
