In Canada our wages are better compared to the US (A&W & McDonald's pay $17.50/hr) but our gas is outrageous, it's like $7.50/gallon right now, but our healthcare won't bankrupt us. So many variables to compare!

Ok I am feeling a little cheated here in the eastern US...I have never seen and I quickly called my local supermarket, they also have never heard of "Lay's Cucumber or BBQ Sparerib" flavored potato chips!! I am so upset!! ROFL
in 2010 or so, I bought Pringles BACON flavored chips in a russian supermarket in Kemerovo which tasted SO totally and utterly of REAL bacon, I have felt CHEATED ever since. But let me give you a hint- go to ASIAN supermarkets to find some of the lays flavors we lack- small bags but they will have a LOT more, strange ones too, like crab flavored and stuff, but you can find the cucumber or BBQ flavors probably not the same as those European markets but nice for a change.
I love the food in most of the supermarkets you've shown, they make me hungry. We're in Melbourne, my wife is Chinese and shops in asian markets, even starving hungry I can never find anything I want to buy. Russia seems to be a traditional family orientated culture, in the western world we are going down a depravity road. Id like to move to a traditional family friendly country like Russia. But we even have trouble with Melbourne cold. $150+ a week for water, electric and gas.

Russell, if you come to Kaliningrad, you will be surprised at how many other locally produced products we have. Mainly meat and dairy products. Local beer can be ordered in restaurants and cafes. Come on vacation 😁 we have the sea and huge shops like Victoria and Spar.

Every time its an insistence on "typical" and more and more argument for what is typical. I havent been IN russia for a decade and even then this was ALL typical all the videos- because its what russians have. In moscow its typical, you're talking about like a huge portion of the population... I was living in Kemerovo for a few months for instance and we had BIG places like Continent Vkus which was I think a moscow based chain and was like a lot of the higher end supermarkets shown here, we had Maria Ra which was more like the small ones, there are those kind of "lot" stores with bulk items like Russell shows... all were "typical" as if you can find such a store in a place like Kemerovo which is a BIG city but its literally in the "middle of nowhere" and isnt even close to its big brother novosibirsk in scale- it means typically given most russians live in cities- that the experience and availability is typical. Russell, Great work showing all of the stores and people and layouts, prices and availability just for the sake of curiosity, Great channel. I absolutely love your content, as someone who did live in Russia for a time "long ago" what you show is what I remember, and its so much easier to show people what you are recording than try to EXPLAIN it to people. It's really TYPICAL. I can't understand why you can't find it in Kemerovo if I can show you a bunch like these....in Novomoskovsk in the region of Tula. If Kemerovo is out of nowhere, then where Novomoskovsk is ? You really haven't been in Russia for a very very long time.

Pickled (or rather fermented) cucumbers are traditional add to potatoes, so it's nothing really strange for us. We have some interesting chips flavors, like crawfish (not lobster), mushrooms in sourcream and even olivier salad (New Year limited edition). Recently I've seen Lays with flavor of mozzarella cheese with pesto.

Is everything around you in your town (what is the name of it)....doctors, hospital, library, post office?....or do you have to go into Moscow for those. Magnit prices are insane. I do prefer Svetofor and have already visited it today. I spent only 298 roubles: 2 cans of cod lever (2x0.22 kg) - 43 rub; 2 packs of cottage cheese (2x0.45 kg) - 89 rub; 2 packs of butter (2x0.5 kg) - 166 rub. Their specials '1+1' is amasing.

Молоко у нас в основном пастеризованное, срок годности небольшой, я покупаю объёмом +/- 1литр , пару раз в неделю. Если взять объёмом побольше, то скиснет быстро. Говядиную берем в специализированных магазинах, в мясных лавках, хорошее мясо. А курицу или индейку можно спокойно брать в супермаркетах, главное смотреть срок изготовления и упаковки.
Чем мне нравится еще магнит, по мимо того что есть почти все, так это их приложение на телефоне где есть встроенный сканер, и можно через телефон отсканировать любой товар и сразу посмотреть цену, а не искать её в куче ценников или идти на кассу или искать сканер каторый не везде есть ,а если и есть, то надо искать где он весит ...
Смотри,делаешь визу, потом прилетаешь в Россию подаёшь документы что-то по типу "беженца/иммиграта" ну там не важно, либо можно подать документы на гражданство, сдать экзамены, либо жениться/выйти замуж за гражданина России и всё живи не хочу, естественно устроиться на работу, взять ипотеку ну там как пойдёт, в целом если интересует данный вопрос на ютубе куча роликов от иностранцев которые переехали в Россию, даже основали свой бизнес, в общем куча людей от которых можно узнать все подробности, конце концов интернет в помощь, вся процедура как начать жить иностранцу в России есть. At the cinema you can get popcorn. You can buy the microwave stuff in the supermarkets as well. I've made some at home a couple of times, but just the classic one with some extra salt.

Harrys bread is very suspicious. It is somewhat chemical, not only because of color(there are different variations), but it can be stored for several month(!) and will be still eatable after that. It is unnatural.
Every time I see all the eggs sitting on a shelf it seems so crazy! In the USA they have to be refrigerated. But I think that is because they supposedly have more salmonella on them? I do not know why that is!

you panned across an item named SPLAT , what is SPLAT? 19:56 you showed some peaches, those are what appear to be "Saturn" or "donut" peaches, they don't grow tremendously large but , if you get a chance to try one do so , it's an interesting variety of peach that is fairly easy to nibble on since you don't really have to sink your whole face into it, like you would a traditional peach or an apple or something like that..
