Huge yachts, private planes, luxury villas and flashy cars. All belonging to Russian oligarchs whose assets in Italy have been frozen since the invasion of Ukraine two years ago, and, according to data collected by the European commission, this amounts to 2.3 billion euros. They're business men not politicians and even if they were politicians you'd need a strong case against them specifically. They've been coming to Italy for years without any problem, the only reason their properties are being seized is because of political reasons not legal reasons and if these business men were to sue the Italian government in any court of law, the government would lose because those business men didn't break any laws.

Clearly no one here have experienced law enforcement seizing or impounding property. It needs to be in same condition when released otherwise you can get sued. This prevent law enforcement’s using your goods as target practice

I remember when personal property of certain people in Germany was seized in 1940's ., It is not clear when and under which circumstances the personal property of Russian citizens will be released , or why it was seized in the first place. Of course , the word " temporary" does not include the time frame, is it a month, year, decade, a lifetime, or several generations have to pass before the property is returned.

@gregorywilson2124, when a bank freezes your account, nobody can withdraw or deposit from it. But the money is still there. The bank can not take that money for themselves. The same goes with sanctions.

That said, if he would credibly be accused of supporting genocide, fascism, ethnic cleansing etc in legally enforable way (i.e. he could be convicted in an international court of law), I'ld be supporting of prosecuting him.

Well they are not given visas to come nor is ruble accepted. If you read law if an item is seized or impounded then its need to be in the same condition when it’s released otherwise you get sued ..duh
