Thank you for making these videos. I've always been curious about Russia and it's people. I have always thought that we Americans and Russians have a lot in common. From what I see in your videos Russia is very beautiful and I would love to visit some day 😁
How wonderful to see the people dress so modestly, with respect and reverence for their Christian faith. Here in America, I have seen people arrive at church dressed like street tramps. Men and women alike. The Monastery and grounds are breathtakingly beautiful. Thank you.
Dear Valeria, thank you for these videos. I am Orthodox also but am from US. . I'm half Russian but I don't speak Russian (although I can usually understand a good bit). I love to see your videos about our Church and faith. I intend to visit Russia someday. Recently my daughter asked me if I could visit any place right then, where would I go. Immediately I said "Mocsow and Russia" without even having to think twice. Thank you again for these videos. Also, I wish my Russian language was just a tenth as good as your English😊. Did you live for a time in an English speaking country?

What beautiful buildings, they look amazing! I really like that architectural design, with all the domes and such. They must have a fabulous grounds crew to keep everything so pretty. It is awesome that they feed everyone twice a day for free. I look forward to the next video, have a nice weekend!
The architecture in this town is stunning. Since the current situation started, I have been watching as much as possible about Russia trying to learn more and see how some live. It appears to be a beautiful place.

That is so wonderful they get feed.Take all those apples you are tired of there and other things so they don't go bad.I would also find farmer( for the pigs) were you can trade ( meat) with for those abundance of fruits and vegetables.Great video!
This was a splendid narrative of this most interesting village and the Church-Monastery. I am TOTALLY amazed how the citizens have embraced Christanity after so many year of not being able to worship. Who is paying for all of these Churches to be refurbished? Are the youth of Russia attending services and being taught their Christian Faith? I pray that they will except their forefathers belief and embrace Christ's teachings. "Batyushka" is an affectionate and archaic form of "otets" (father). It's applied to priests when addressing them personally, as a sign of respect. You can also say batyushka when talking about a priest in 3rd person (for example, in his absence), though "otets" is more frequent in such a situation. There also exists the word "matushka", it's a female equivalent of "batyushka" (from " mat' " (mother)) and is applied to abbesses and other nuns of higher positions at a monastery. "Svyatoy" (saint) is a word for canonized ones and is never used when talking to or about an ordinary priest or monk regardless of his place in the hierarchy.
Oleg Kunov Thank you for that information. I believe that St.Seraphim was referred to as "Batyushka" at one point either in this video or another in the series. I may be mistaken but I think that historically Tsars were also addressed directly using "Batyushka", but only by peasants--the middle and upper classes would use the usual form of "Your Majesty". (I am thinking in particular of Rasputin addressing Alexandra as "Matyushka"!)
Yes, saints can be named like that, if a person feels special respect toward them. Women canonized as saints are also frequently called matushka. What about tsars, I think there were not many occasions for peasants to talk to them directly, but I assume in a hypothetical situation like that they could be called batyushka too. "Tsar-batyushka" is also abundant in fairytales and folklore.
