Restore this rusty old bicycle transform into an amazing neo vintage road bike really happy with how it looks and rides. Let me know what you guys think! Music: Prod. by OP Beats Risal Amhudo #bikerestoration #vintagebike #bicycle
My father just took me to the garage and showed me his Gitane track bicycle from 1980's. Extremely light, but in great need for a full restoration. "If you restore it, it's yours", he said... Your video proved me that a full restoration is possible. So I went up to my dad and told him "challenge accepted"... :-)
@@cristianturcios6667 @JannisAdmek @CycleFields Hi all. The restoration project went very well. Turns out this bicycle is a high-end Gitane Vuelta equipped with Shimano 600. I disassembled, washed and derusted everything I could, then bought a few new parts : handlebar tape, brake cables, saddle, tires of course... Apart from a few chips in the paint and the rear brake which works moderately well, I'm very happy with the result. All of it for a budget of 90€. Definitely worth it.
İt is a "rebuilding". You have to clean and repair old spareparts and make usefull to say "restoration". Anyone can buy spareparts and make the istallation. Sorry for bad comment but that is my opinion. For "rebuilding" this work is great.
East Asians always find things to renovate by the roadside or in nature and are always lucky enough to also happen to film the whole thing while it's happening. Incredible luck. 😂
Another masterpiece. I was afraid of how the painted stem and handlebars would come out, but the result was sweet. I was surprised how the brown tape complimented the bike and made the colors pop. Awesome.👍🏼👍🏼
Hola soy de Chile ,estoy restaurando una bicicleta con similares características es de marca lugano ,en realidad es igual en sus componentes, me gustaría saber si alguien sabrá de que año será este modelo ,saludos
I was surprised you were able to get nearly all of the rusted parts and fasteners loose! I would have expected it to be almost a lost cause with all the corrosion. I've recovered bikes that didn't look quite as bad as yours, which ended up with many parts permanently seized into place.
I hope you notice that the forks are bent from a previous crash/collision damage. You can clearly see it in the after shot. Look at the headtube angle, follow it down to the top of the fork and you can see that the fork crown is bent backwards. The fork is clearly bent, and the bike, (fork at least) should not be ridden.... I hope you have good dental care😬😵
Man I NEED to find someone who has the time to do an old Schwinn road bike for me. It was my mom's and has her last license plate on it from 1974 but is unfortunately in rough shape after years outside but I don't think it's much worse then this one to start 👍 Makes me very happy to see people take the time and have the skill to make these old bikes better than new 👌👍👍👍
I’m enjoying the bike so far ru-vid.comUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.
Great video. I was thinking of buying a used bike, opening it up to clean, and spray paint it to make it more apealing, as the bikes here in Europe are functional but tend to be very ugly
Dude this bike became an absolute dream after restoration! The only question I'm left with is does metal stop to corrode if you paint it? Like, it doesn't have a connection with oxygen so i guess it stops
My master told me that it can be rust again in 3 years if you left outside under thensun and rain If you put inside and take care, it last 10 year and more
Nice restoration bike it save and never take to smash . if i had place to restor all things they will appreciate the mans made. I wonder how they get here in united states this bike they must be good quality back then. Till now the way i see it . the frame is unique no welding . i had one back and fort i pick it up in trashcan. What should i do without place restor bike ?
very nice, hockey stick tape would work good instead of electrical tape on the bars, would last longer in the rain and sun and has some grip to it too. could do the whole handle bars with it
Pleaaaseee tell me what oil you used to take the rusted parts out from each other, my saddle has been stuck like really stuck and I tried a few things it moved a tiny bit but it’s bad
You know how you click a restoration and it's obvious that the person purposely dirtied or damaged the item just to restore it. This is 100% not the case. Worse bike I've ever seen. Well done sir.
The cable router he installed a ove the Bottom Bracket would be a braze on, on a more expensive frame. It's the lack of busy on the frame which makes the difference. This man knows the trade!
Hello good work Also I hope you can assist me with some advice. I notice my bike had some paint bubbling on the seatpost and realised in the seattube there was a little rust and a tiny whole. Have you had anything similar? Thanks
Wow, this showed me more clearly than anything before, how much we waste. We have cycle-exclusive landfills, full of NEW bikes, let alone bikes I considered junk like this one.
