Just to be clear you can still unlock steam achievement even if you play on assist mode. Do try on normal first because that is the intended difficulty.
A Windows or OSX machine is not automatically giving information to the NSA. Plenty of ways to harden your machine, use for gaming, and not blame game developers to make something for every platform? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Go get one and have fun :)
