I liked the video overall but felt the maker’s attention to detail was very disappointing. Pay attention to the alignment of the holes on the handle. Are they centered or placed closer to one edge? If they’re not centered, are they at least off-center consistently between both handles? What about the channels running down the inside of each handle? Are the channels uniform with smooth, even walls, or are their inconsistent gaps and other marring on the brass? Was the material removed from the very center to create the blade channel, or are the remaining walls on either side inconsistent widths, meaning be removed more brass from one side than the other? You can check all those things in the 9:44 to 9:54 section. Spoiler alert: this knife has ALL those tooling and measuring/alignment flaws, and many more. Lots of evidence that he rushed the work and didn’t give it his best effort. There are other things in this video that he did wrong because he might not know better (like using steel tools to assemble brass pins in a brass handle), but those measuring, alignment, and tooling flaws are simple laziness. And maybe he figured he’s not being paid for this, so it doesn’t matter. But if that’s the case, why bother making a decorative knife and emphasizing all the hard work along the way in the first place?
