Any tips? I want to restore this homemade all by hand, no lathes or fancy electric tools. Its a rusty old WWII British Army Military Machete that needs repair and restoration, how to sand, buff, repair, restore, the blade and the handle.
In this video short I plan on restoring this old rusty machete with a broken handle, a new project for me with carving and woodworking tools that can be used in the wilderness.
I plan on cleaning up the blade, and replacing the broken old plastic handle with a homemade, handmade wooden handle from alder that I saved from winter silva culture projects. This is part one of how to and how will it turn out from the process. We will see what I learn from this adventure that I can apply to future projects working with wood. #howto

Nice machete!. Wet and dry sandpaper or a wire wheel on a grinder to clean up the blade. Depends on how shiny you want it, Connie. Thank you for showing it to us. Stay safe and stay warm

Thank you Sean, I found the blade to be pitted a bit more than I thought I have had to put the belt sander to it but am being careful as don't want to take the manufacturer engraving off it I found, I am so enjoying doing this, will be addicted now lol, its a longer process than just making the handle I figured out, you can't redo the handle and let the blade look like it did🙂it will be an improvement for sure, its my first go and only can get better, now researching about peeding, its awesome learning.
