あぁ！模造刀だったんですね！天皇って書いてあって尚且つ個人名があったので、てっきり恩賜の軍刀かと

模造刀だろうなw柄の部分が金属で出来てる事自体おかしいし

japaneseってあるのに中国製？と思ったけど、神箏のCM見たら職人、刀、サムライ、日の丸でこれは逆に日本製じゃないなって理解できた

It's true, that's military issue.

The NCO sword had a regular steel blade, but the Officer Sword blade I believe would have been folded steel, the traditional method. Some officers brought their family sword with them into battle as well.

This would have been a purely ornamental piece, intended to be passed down through generations. They used the metal throughout to preserve it since wood decays over time

In the second world war japanese generals were given cheap katanas with metal handels

Depends on the age. Many ancient katana swords were modified during WW2 for the japanese army

It's ww2 it was mass produced using mechanical tools lol. Still it's nothing to snub a nose at its a deadish weapon. They.... weren't the best quality.

if its in "Rough Shape" or actually rusted, the blade would have pieces broken off or a noticeably damaged blade.The rust is faked.

It's just some wallhanger, my dude. This isn't a real katana. Hell the entire hilt and tsuba assembly was made completely out of bronze.

As I said I have two real katanas and two dull ones for practice,I would never let any of my blades get like this . If you do that's you .but as a sword collector this type of neglect is sad and dishonorable to the blade and the sword smith . End of discussion

My neighbor got his in Japan at a souvenir shop when he lived there in the 70's.

if it was owned by an actual samurai, it wouldnt haave fake rust. This is a forged replica that has had fake rust put on it.

I don't think that sword was General level issue. Looks more like Cannon Fodder level issue.

Its manufacturing seems too fragile and coarse to be a real one, even a last ditch one. Moreover, its grip is made of brass, which was a strategic material that would surely not ne wasted like this...
