Thanks for watching Dr Hut. I only just got the lathe and that was my first piece. Appreciate your opinion on the thumb screw. I wasn't sure at first but it's grown on me 😁
Thank you so much Longhorn that's very kind of you. Yep I liked the shiny also, I just thought at the time it needed something different. I think I got that bit wrong 😁
I agree mate. I prefer shiny however the work put into that Footprint Wrench was phenomenal. I ‘be done a couple of those myself and they can be deceptive in how much work is involved.
@@shedmanx3640 Your spot on Shed Man. I picked this project because I thought I might be able to get it done reasonably quickly, boy was I wrong. Thanks for watching 👍
Thanks buddy yes it took forever, I was thinking it was going to be a quick job. I picked the lathe up last week, don't really know what I'm doing on it but it turned out ok. Thanks for watching 👍
Right now I am restoring an old wrench and after 2 hours of sanding I decided to take a break and now I am looking at your restoration. Maybe I better go for a walk. Lol Anyway, good work as always, precise, patient and with an excellent result. Bravo.
Thanks LTMS for taking a break to watch mine and for the very kind words. I know exactly what you mean. I picked this piece thinking it would be quicker, but I was so wrong. Can't wait to see how your wrench project turns out.
@@Austeration I also thought that mine would be a quick project ... I was wrong, it will take a while, also because I have just moved to another city and I have a lot of things to fix at home.
@@Austeration unfortunately the space to shoot the video in the house is much smaller, but I have a basement and I will organize it soon with a couple of power tools.
Thanks for watching Dirge, good question. I believe this type of pipe wrench has been around since 1915, could even be earlier. Not sure how old mine are though.
Thanks Magdad 😁 I didn't even know it should have a thumb screw till I watched your restoration of the same thing. I was lucky I managed to pick up an old lathe after starting on it.
Had to come see what kinda fun you had going on over here or rather should I say Down under Came over from Steve Winkleman aka SLW Restorations I love watching old things come back to life 👍🏻
Thanks for coming over and taking a look Dream Creations, much appreciated. I hope you might find something else interesting in my collection of videos.
Thanks for watching and commenting Brian, much appreciated. I'm undecided now, some like it and some don't. Maybe I should blue the whole thing. If you haven't already please consider Subscribing and check out some of my other work 👍😁
Thanks for watching xivanovandreyx. I did consider that, it would probably disguise the remaining pitting. Might still do it. Appreciate your comments 👍
Thank you Neil that's very kind of you to say. I appreciate you watching and leaving a comment. If you haven't already please consider Subscribing and check out some of my other projects 👍
Hey thanks for watching and leaving a comment GBL much appreciated. Please consider Subscribing if you haven't already and check out some of my other projects 👍
The blues a nice contrast . Nice machining of the screw , wonderful finish , great to see the teeth come up like that . Shame you didn't polish inside the handle 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍
Thanks for watching Jim. I did hit the inside with the mini wire wheel but I forgot to record that bit. Looking at the video now though it doesn't look that clean 🤪 thanks for the pick up 👍👍
Thanks G-Restoration I appreciate you watching. The new lathe is an old lathe. Still needs a bit of work. I haven't been on a lathe in over 30 years so I need to learn.
Thanks for that Ozwald, you mean the aluminium soft jaws so that I don't leave vice jaw marks. Please check out my latest project if you haven't seen it yet
Another great restoration, I think every "grandfather" and "dad" had a set of footprints in their toolbox years ago. Mine did lol. Good choice with the hot bluing too by the way.
I did not anticipate this wrench being so small! 😅 I really like the design. I used to use one daily and a design like this would have saved me a lot of mucking with an adjustment wheel 😊
What did you use your wrench for ? Yes would have been much easier than using the wheel 😁 These come in different sizes, I have a big one I might restore some time later.😊
@@Austeration I worked an oilfield job doing pressure testing, etc. Used a lot of heavy duty manual tools. It was a great paying job but I had no life. 🙈
