If I have a cant hook in my ear, I'm probably going to be listening to the sounds of the hospital psychiatric ward in the other ear...

Something I appreciate, when I watch you work, is that instead of thinking "Oh, I wish I could afford those tools" - like on so many videos - I think "Oh, I have the exact same tools in my garage right now", and I'm motivated to repair something of my own. Thank you again for sharing your work with us strangers out here on the Internet! :)

Nice restoration but I think a black Rustic Square Head Lag Wood Screw would have been a better choice for attaching it to the wooden shaft.

Nice to see a harbor freight restoration, lol. Question: why not use electrolysis to remove the rest of the rust?

I'd have preferred if it were shown how this tool was used, as I'm not familiar with it. I personally also dislike the style of leaving the in such a badly pitted condition, especially for a showpiece. Impressive work on the wood though.

Ok this not for logging dominantly, this thing is often used in old carriage steam powered saw mills to turn the logs over during the sawing process, usually two people would be using these hooks at the same time.

There was a good reason for the clamp being lower down in the position it was. The hook is now too far up the shaft for it to grip a log correctly. Try it, you'll see..

Ok i would have made the handle a bit longer but i can live with that. The other thing is that you dont give any clue as to what its for or how its used. I gotta believe there are thousands of people out there that were wondering what it actually is but didnt mind because they knew there was going to be a demonstration at the end. If no demo then a picture of an old school logger useing one whould fill in the blank for those people.

Looked like more work on the handle than the tip but good job overall. Seeing as this will be a show-no-go tool, maybe you could have gone ahead and finished the tip and painted it black. Enjoy your channel and good luck with it.😊

With how much dirt, dust, rust and general filth gets on that workbench I'd be very tempted to replace it after every restoration
