In this flight, we'll see the godly love and courage of two very different women from very different backgrounds. And we'll meet Boaz, who became Ruth's kinsman-redeemer, a type of Christ. Although the book of Ruth is short, it is prophetically important in terms of the genealogy of Jesus Christ. Ruth's story of romantic grace places love at the center of each of its four chapters.
This teaching is from our series The Bible from 30,000 Feet - 2018 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.

I have enjoyed this sermon series so much, and the book of Ruth is just so beautiful! I teach 5th grade Sunday school and we go through the whole Bible each year, much like "the Bible at 30,000 ft" and it has been great to use this series as a reference. I have learned so much. God gets such a bad rap when it comes to the Old Testament as if He is only full of judgment and punishment. But when you really take a closer look, it is full of the mercy and grace of God, slow to anger, quick to show mercy. It is His kindness that leads us to repentance! Thank you!!!

Feel blessed finding skip, I am happy others are blessed also, I wish my cult. sister could hear him, she slams the phone on me, she’s in a cult I escaped, she still is locked tight in it, I woke up and prayed, I then found skip, thankyou father , Amen , my sister dosnt have the internet to get help, I pray for her , she is Legally blind and cannot read, but All things are possible with God, , I will get a moment to speak to her,

You mention that everybody, or rather every human born who was ever born, had died. What about Enoch and Elijah? I don't think either one of them died, correct?.

What is the significance of God choosing a gentile to be in Jesus genealogy? It must have been for a reason.

God, throughout the Bible does the most shocking thing in probably all of human history. Multiple times in Leviticus, Deuteronomy, throughout the prophets and in the New Testament, God identifies himself as the God of the foreigner, the immigrant, and the refugee. This is shocking because the human tendency and the habit of every other pagan god was to identify as the god of the nation that worshipped them and especially of the god of the kings or the rulers. The God of the Bible is certainly the King of Kings, but he identifies in a special way the poor, the homeless, the needy, and the foreigner. That’s because the gospel is this: we are the foreigners. We are foreign to God’s kingdom. We do not obey His laws, live in His presence (heaven), or naturally pay kingdom dues (tithes, worship, etc.). We are defects of the Kingdom of God, but God identifies with us physically in the person of Christ. In essence, every gentile person in the bloodline of Christ points to the nature of Christ just the same as all the written prophesies about Him. God’s inclusion of the gentiles in the bloodline of Christ points forward to God’s inclusion of the gentiles in the blood-sacrifice of Christ. Hope this helps.
