President Mwai Kibaki has this evening with immediate effect suspended Higher Education Minister From the cabinet. According to a statement from the Presidential Press Service, the decision was made after consultations with the Prime Minister and in light of the High Court's decision last week that the Eldoret North MP must face criminal charges in a case filed against him by the Kenya Anti Corruption Commission. Subsequently, Professor Hellen Sambili has been appointed then acting Higher Education Minister. Sambili also remains the substantive Minister for East African Cooperation.
