Ruyi seemed almost amused at Gao's blind ignorance. I wonder why she absolutely hated Ruyi seeing that Ruyi did nothing to her and it was Fuca Empress & Empress Dowager all along. I also don't understand why emperor was so leinent with Fuca Empress but so harsh with Gao and later Ruyi (even though Ruyi was innocent of all accusations).

Basically, it all boils down to reputation. The Emperor is concerned how his people would see the Imperial family if word got out that the mother of the nation is a malicious, evil, and scheming person that has caused discord in the inner palace. So it's best to turn a blind eye.

Also, he didn't have much assumptions with the first Empress. When Ruyi became the step Empress, he already had numerous experiences with people who plan behind his back to for their own gain, also Ruyi's allegations with Ling Yunche didn't help either

Could be a lot of different reasons. 1. He was a lot younger and a lot less hard hearted 2. Status. One was the 1st Empress and she came from a powerful family, whose assistance the Emperor needed. The others were just concubines from lesser known houses. Even the Gao family was one that the Emperor raised up. Ruyi's maternal clan had no power. A step Empress is below the 1st Empress in status.

From other comment threads I've seen, it's assumed that the translation doesn't have a word for what the seeds actually are. Basil is the closest, but I can't confirm if it's true or not😅

No they don't. Not if they're wearing it . If they eat that in large quantities, it might cause uterine contractions and abort a fetus.., that's it. But it can also upset a person's stomach and get shat right out before that reaching the bloodstream.

Wearing it would do absolutely nothing. If Gao was fed a large amount of seed every day , it would've worked . It could've aborted her fetus in extreme doses , but a bracelet would do absolutely nothing. She should've just invited her for tea everyday and fed her Artemisia/ mugworts ..,that may have worked.
