Cute squirrel...so now we need to see some grizzlies! Maybe you guys will get lucky (from a safe distance). BTW, thumbs up Paul for your driving. Those roads up there are a muddy mess. So maybe your next challenge will be the ice road over the ocean in the winter??!! LOL. Instead of "Ice Road Truckers" it will be "Ice Road RVers." 😁
WOW I can't imagine riding a bike from Washington to the Artic Circle. Thanks for taking me along. I know that I will probably never get there in my lifetime, so thanks for taking me along. Stay safe and safe travels.
I conquered the Dempster to this past June but the dirt road ate 3 of my tires, two just 2 hours from Dawson City. I met a couple who had their own tire troubles. They allowed to use their air pump for the slow leaking tire to get to DC. I chuckled with the tire repairman, you must make a killing repairing tires and washing vehicles. On the Dalton Highway, I had an absolutely flawless drive from end to end.
@@LifeWithPaulLorena I hit a 3 inch nail on the NB drive which was removed in Tuktoyatuk by John at Grandma's Kitchen free if I bought some food at his wife's food truck. I bought a musk ox burger and a soda for lunch.
Up there in Canada and Alaska they spread a mix of something they use for dust control on the gravel roads. When it gets wet is gets slicker than snot. Many years ago while driving in Alaska we were on a gravel road with that dust control stuff on it, and it got so slick our VW camper on one steep hill would just start spinning the wheels and the van would come to a stop and start sliding backwards down the hill just as if it were ice. We made many tries at the hill but finally had to turn around and head back to Fairbanks. Also the reason they don't have concrete ramps is the river level is high in the beginning of summer and level goes down as it gets closer to fall or depending on the amount of rainfall. As the river falls they just keep extending the ramp so the ferry can dock at the rivers level. Concrete up there would just heave from the frost and it would just break up.
I watched last night and now I want a Eskimo Donut 🍩. Going up and back the Dempster Hwy was soooooo awesome 👏. Was thinking the ferries were going to be worse. Piece of cake. Sweet. Can’t wait to see what you put together on the glaciers. Very Cool...
What a great video. Again. Those BMW guys are hard core, I learned years ago when I decided to ride from Philly to Daytona Bike week (on a sportster no less) and almost froze to death. after that I trailered. but those BMW guys (The BMW club of America camped at the same campground) rode from everywhere. In winter. There was never a trailer on the "BMW Side" of the park. If people had not been trying to kill me I might have traded my Electra Glide for one of those GS Beemers, they look like fun.
Guys,,,,,,,an absolutely fantastic video!! Chock full of information, as well as filming the gourgous scenery! And done with the minimum amount of talking/narrating. Bravo!
Wow! What a wash job! Cool to talk with the motorcycle group. That takes some serious dedication to ride those that far North and camp outside. There sure seems to be a small population up there. Congrats on hitting the 21k subscribers! Thanks and see you next video. Brian & Patty from Oregon
I would think that your ferry crossings were different because of the huge tidal changes there. If you crossed the first time at low(er) tide, your tires would roll onto the soft mud & that's probably the reason for the wheel blocks for traction & to help level your departure out. /Just a thought!
OMG! I'm too OCD to handle the mud! Our recent travels through St. Louis and Indiana I think we may be ready for Alaska. The roads were horrific, One spot in St. Louis on I44 through the city to connect to I70 we thought our rig was going to come apart. I70 in Indiana was nonstop potholes. Please do a video on washing the rig when you do. Safe travels Micahel & Kandy #BHGT18.
Fantastic Fantastic stic Fantastic!!! What wonderful experiences. You have created a real problem for us now as these vids have made us want to go! Thanks so much!
I have more fun watching you both and traveling with you via YT. Very sweet of you to film the guys with the motorcycles. I also have more fun going on ferry's. Love to both and stay safe. Thanks!
Thanks for the inspiration for the past year guys! We love your videos! You and a couple of other vloggers have encouraged us to start our own RU-vid channel. We hope you follow us along on our journey😁
😮 wow!! I now know for sure I will not be talking my motorhome there.. I hope you have a motorhome in one peace when you get back to the States. Lol 😂 looks like the bugs are bugging you guys. I hate being bugged by bugs 🕷
Another fantastic video guys appreciate you taking us along just curious you have to have power steering pump troubles with that rig sounds like she's growling pretty good nevertheless thank you continue to have a safe journey mark and D
Wow! Love your Alaska trip videos. You did a great job making videos of your journey into Alaska. As evidenced by the conditions of the dirt roads you were traveling over and the mud covering your vehicles, this was not an easy trip or proverbial cake walk. And finally, don't forget to wear LIFE JACKETS when you take your canoe out on a big lake, river, ocean or any body of deep water. That way you can continue making great videos and I can continue watching your great videos :-)
Brave souls on the bikes... looks like they were having fun....wow the mud on your rig I'd pay good money to have someone else clean it !!! Safe travels 👍👍
Given what is seen of public roads in other more northern spots like Northern Cape Norway, it really is a shame Canada and the US don't devote more to road infrastructure.
BTW...the RIVER crossing in the NWT along the Mackenzie river? Why no "Permanent" landings for the Ferries? Little thing called "Muskeg" has a BIG Effect on Stationary Objects...along with River Ice, grinding away at it too? (read about this somewhere "Decades ago" before the Internet even !!)
❓🤔I may have missed it, but how much is it to ride each ferry across? I tried to find the info online, I found the hours of operation but couldn’t find a price.
Out of all the hundreds of miles I've rode my motorcycles I never even thought of riding up to the Artic Circle... I've always preferred the warmer weather... LOL,LOL... God willing before I turn 90 I want to go to Death Valley and this time I'll be sober so I can remember being there... LOL,LOL... That's about the only place left on my bucket list... LOL... But right now I'd love to be physically able to just ride 6 hours south to my daughter's home in Nashville Indiana... I did ride up to the Wisconsin Dell the week before fathers day and spent a week camping up there by myself. It only took me 6 hours to do a 3 hour ride. BUT I was so happy to be back out on the road again. But I paid the price for it too when I got back home. But it was worth it.... I'll soon be back out there burning up those miles again some day. All in God's time not mine like my AA sponsor keeps reminding me... LOL... Also I highly doubt that my Can Am Spyder could handle that road Y'all were on. It only has about 4 inches of ground clearance... LOL... It's so good seeing you kids having so much fun... Be blessed... BBE..

hope you greased the undercarriage before you left and if you dont run into a nasty rain storm i would like to know what they say at the truck wash when you get there
Stop saying it like reindeer and caribou are two different things. Typically caribou are wild and reindeer are domesticated. Same species, no difference
I think feeding the squirrels up there is helping them out. They bury their food to store it until they need it. If people help them out then they have plenty of food and can leave their reserve food for winter. That's just the way I see it. I help animals out all the time in the wild. I know nature can take care of itself, I look at it as giving a helpful hand. Doesn't hurt anything. P.S. As long as you're feeding them what they're supposed to eat. I don't agree feeding them things that are not in their diet.
We NEVER called another culture disgusting. I said I thought something they ate was disgusting. That's just my opinion. I find seafood disgusting, but people are free to eat anything they choose. When talking to one of the elders in Tuktoyuktuk he said he found many of the things we ate disgusting. Different strokes for different folks. We found the people very welcoming.
