RV DC Power Not Working | Quick Fix Solution

My 2005 Ford FourWinds E450 RV was receiving no power from the battery power and suddenly stopped working when not plugged into shore power. The RV circuits were not working, and the fuses would not light up when tested and the house battery showed over 12 volts of charge. The battery cables tested ok and had no visible damage but the rv power converter was not working and the rv lights and outlets were not working. Using a multi meter I was able to trace power to what looked like a small breaker pole and I was able to find a small circuit breaker switch that fixed the problem.

I was freaking out and watched a bunch of videos. Was on the verge of taking it in for service until I came across your video. I was nervous about opening the back of the fuse box, but I got over it and found the switch by unscrewing the bed base. I found the tiny button, pushed it and prayed. I screamed when the main power switch illuminated and all power was restored. Thank you so much for sharing this and never taking it down. 6/25/2020

Thank God I ran across this video. I had the same problem with my 2017 Thor quantum PD 31 RV. After spending days crawling around the underside of the RV and checking every possible fuse I started to watch every you tube video on the subject. Then finally ran across this one. As soon as I watched I ran out to the RV and seen it located under the bed and pressed it. I couldn't believe it worked. Just want to thank this guy for posting this video that saved me a lot of money in shop fees.

Your the BOMB. I had no DC in my Minni Winni. After watching your video I went on a hunting mission. Found a relay in my 4x4 junction box under the front of the rig where the batteries connect to the rest of the camper. The reset button was out and i pushed it in and like magic I was back powered up. Without your video I would have been lost. THANKS!

Just found a similar reset button on my 2000 Dodge Ram camper van. Was the smallest little button (not even 1/4") on the power converter supply right by the aux battery switch. Pressed it and everything was immediately working as it should. Incredibly easy fix if you know you have good aux batteries, but aren't getting any power.

2015 Thor 35SB Spent hours troubleshooting same problem. Then found the video. Then found the fuse box and looked under bed. Then pushed little button...voila...power back on. Lifersaver thank you, 6/4/21

Just want to say thanks for the video. I was having a similar problem with my Thor Class C and was at the point of having to take it into the service department. After watching your video I located the same circuit breaker and once it was "reset" all the 12V functions worked. Thanks again.

While this video was informative, in my case switching the DC distribution panel breakers at the breaker panel off and on several times caused the DC to work correctly again when off of shore power.

thx, I'm gonna look, just replaced the deep cycle batteries because I thought it was those since they r old...but now I have NO 12v power after replacing em, maybe I have a extra breaker like yours does, I could start my generator before but now can't and even the panel won't show red lights either now??

I also have this problem. Wish I had y'alls luck but I can't get mine to turn on. I have a brand new battery. I checked all fuses. Even found that similar button under my camper but still nothing works with battery only. I have to connect to shore.. This is so frustrating..I might have to open up that box next that button I found and see if there's a fuse in there. Any other suggestions?

I think mine might be the converter. It's a 20 year old class A. Same problem otherwise.

I had the same exact situation in a 2014 Thor Windsport. Under the drivers side hood there is the box that ties the chassis and house battery systems. There are two contactors inside with a printed circuit board. On the bottom left of the PCB there is a 50 amp breaker with a very tiny push button reset. I touched the button and it started working the same as yours did. I’m guessing that something ran down either your house or chassis batteries to a very very low voltage and you started the engine. That is what caused my problem. The alternator was charging higher than 50 amperes and the breaker tripped. Hope this helps someone! Respectfully, Kevin

I have a 2010 forest river 2304 camper. Where should my reset button be? Where was yours?

My button is located on a block under the rear bed where the electrical wires come in to connect to the circuit breaker panel. Another issue could be the battery disconnect relay switch. If it goes bad then it won’t allow the system to switch over to DC battery power once unplugged from shore power.

No I didn’t disconnect the batteries just hit the reset button. At the time I had no idea what was going on. Hope that helps

I accidentally connect it the battery cables the opposite way and everything shut down now I don't have power the relay that's outside were the cables connect doesn't have a reset button do think by replacing it might solve my problem

There’s a possibility that might work. That’s a tough one and might require some trial and error to figure out the problem. Does the rv have power when plugged into shore power?

Hey man so you would only get 12dc when you where hook up to shore power right? But once you where unplugged from shore power you didn't have 12volts correct?

I'm going to start studying this situation. I just got an RV 2009 R Vision trail sport. The guy told me the power and everything was working but when I come out to the countryside. None of the plugins work. Still have battery power. Are they supposed to be working? or did they only work if you have a power generator or you're plugged into house or something?

Hi there. Yeah it sounds like you want power from the outlets. If that’s the case you have to have a source of AC electricity which can come either from a generator or plugged into a house or campground outlet. The battery peovides DC power which will power the lights, furnace and refrigerator. Hope that helps.

@@nomadsrv927 hello my nomadic brothers and sisters. Yes indeed I guess I do need ac power. But were there not some solar setups with the inverter that make it possible? Or does that require a giant array of solar panels? what size of generator do I need to run things like coffee makers laptop desktop computer basically everything?

Yes for a solar power setup you would need multiple batteries and solar panels to keep them charged of course it would depend on how much power you would need. The laptop, phones etc don’t need much power but a Coffee usually needs around 1000-1500 watts and a desktop would need something similar to stay running. But it could be accomplished .

I've went through this myself. Tried the reset. Nothing. Replaced with an auto reset. Still the same. All fuses are good. Any tips? Anyone.....

Damn. Everything works but the lights dim out and than shut off. Battery is at a steady 13.7v. maybe the convertor?

Yeah it could be a bad converter. I was having dim lights and ended up having to replace the converter. Here’s the one I replaced it with: amzn.to/37ur877 Hope that helps…I know it’s very frustrating trying to figure it out. 😄👍🏽
