I built my own. I bought a whole house regulator like you have where your house hooks up to the water main. Then I installed a brass male hose adaptor to the inlet and a side outlet tee to the outlet side. I put a pressure gauge in the side of the tee and a female hose adaptor on the end. Viola!! It is super dependable and has very good water flow.

Thanks, after years of using the standard 45 psi flow restricting one I purchased the adjustable brass one a year or so ago. I like it but the gauge did fail! It registered 80psi not hooked up!! So I replaced the gauge and it is working OK again

I bought one. Used it 4-5 times and it developed a leak. Called the company and described where the leak was as well as the serial #. They sent me a new unit FOC as they were aware that some of these units might have some issues. New one works great for over a year now. Also, don’t expose to a hard freeze. The gauge may damage.

I want to tell you I went through all the same regulators as you and found the same thing. The first cheapy regulated the pressure but was very restrictive then got the one with the gauge a little more expensive I thought maybe the first one was defective but flow was still poor so I checked out all the ones on Amazon and got the one you showed last and it works great and I can adjust it. Its more money yet but worth it, now my shower has great flow

I found one of those regulators on the faucet at a campsite, maybe it was yours! It wasn't in great shape though, so maybe it wasn't. :) I don't follow the same logic about where to place the regulator. I place it after the hose and after the water filter. The water filter reduces flow, and when water is flowing, it reduces pressure. I'd rather lose that from the full pressure side. There is a small risk of blowing the hose or filter, but those are easily replaced and most campgrounds don't have nearly enough pressure to put either the hose or the filter at risk. If you know the campground has really high pressure you can always start with the regulator, but the rest of the time placing it after the filter gives you more constant pressure and flow in the rig. I do agree about the type of regulator, there are quite a few clones out there of these metal body adjustable regulators with gauges, so get a good one! By the way, regulators do get worn and need to be rebuilt or replaced periodically. They typically will start leaking and the high pressure will come through when there is no flow. When you turn on a faucet you will get a tiny volume of high pressure and then the pressure will drop to the proper level. For the home regulators there is a rebuild kit, but replacing it may be easier than finding the exact kit for the regulator. For the RV just get a new one.

Used one like you recommended before I saw your video. The problem I had with it was the valves gauge began to leak. The leak got worse and I had to replace the entire regulator. Went to a preset with 45 to 55 psi. Just and FYI. Enjoy your videos.

Great video man, simple and clear! Got a rookie question here, would it be okay if you fill your fresh water tank with relatively high water pressure without pressure regulator, such as 80psi? It won't damage anything?

Sorry if you have gone over this... we are going to be in an RV park next week with overnight Temps in the 20's. Do you recommend disconnecting from the freshwater? If so, would you fill your freshwater tank to use overnight and in the morning or is there concern with freeze on that as well? The trailer does have heated tanks, but I've never used that feature and I'm not sure if they should be on all night? Sorry for all the questions, you are someone I have always felt was really knowledgeable on this stuff. Thanks!

Wondering if you're Renator regulator is still working good. I've had one for 2 years, and just noticed the oil in the gauge has leaked to where it only fills the gauge about 1/2 way. So now the needle is not in the oil, and presumably not working accurately. Have you or anyone else had similar experience? Thinking I need to buy a new regulator!

Shouldn't we add the blue filter first to the supply and then the regulator
@ellisdee5248

When I tried using the Renator the gauge would either drop to almost 0 or shoot way above the recommended 45 psi. Is mine bad? Or what am I missing? Edit: no matter how little I turned the adjustment screw, on of those 2 things would happen. I could never get a stable pressure between 40-50 psi.

A word of caution do not leave the regulators out when storing the RV in freezing temperature. If a little water is still in the regulator gauge it will break the gauge This from experience. The gauge can be replace easy for less than $10.00.

@AllAboutRVs
@AllAboutRVs 3 года назад
A typical garden hose is not recommended to use when used for potable or drinking water but if you are going to use it to fill your tanks at home turn on the water to the hose and let all the water that could have been sitting in there to be flushed out and then fill your tanks. It’s best to have an RV safe hose that you can find on our list for hoses that are better for you to use for drinking water. www.amazon.com/shop/jaredgillis
