Is replacing RV incandescent lighting with LEDs worthwhile?
When you consider the 90% battery power savings, 10X lifespan, superior vibration resistance (roads are not smooth, afterall), heat savings, and other benefits, the answer is a resounding HECK YES!
Dealers often charge $600 or more for LED conversions, but you can do your whole trailer for the what the dealer charges for a single fixture!

www.aliexpress.com - Just visit the site, and search for terms like "T10 12V LED" or "1156 12V LED", optionally with how many LEDs you want per bulb (brightness). Filter for free shipping, and find the cheapest/popular seller with good "star" ratings... :-)
As of 2017, prices are down to around $0.50 per LED bulb when bought 10 or 20 at a time, free (slow) shipping..

Thank you for posting. A couple of my lights have just gone out and I have to confess I didn't know how to change the bulbs. You answered that plus gave the great suggestion to switch to LED. Thanks for simple and to the point message.

5:00 This happened with the license plate light. I managed to get the bulbs to turn on after the third or fourth time, but I was still left confused why the lights didn't just work the first time. Thank you for explaining this! You get my thumbs up.

I purchased all led lights for my camper but now that I’m on sure power for the rest of the cold months I went back with the incandescent where I needed light the most as the ones i purchased on amazon weren’t that bright

I bought replacement 1141 LEDs for my 1975 Steury Houseboat. However, the polarity was wrong on some fixtures necessitating reversing the wiring in the fixtures (as DonziGT23 indicated below).

It's not impossible to have reversed wiring, but it's still wrong... :)

Some of my light fixtures are 12v, some are 120v. Do the same led bulbs work in both - interchangeably?

redroofretriever although they use the save leds internally, absolutely not externally compatible. 12v LED bulbs put strings of three 4V LEDs in series, many strings in parrallel. 120V bulbs rectify AC to DC and then often just put strings of 30 in series. The sockets also wouldn't match.

Good video they have LED light now that replace the whole fixture and both wires are white doesn't matter pos to neg they work either way

Yes, you can replace the entire fixture, and in some cases that may even be the best option. Many people don't want to rewire their trailer, don't want to drill new holes, or want to save the most money possible (fixtures are 5-10X the cost of just bulbs). Another good feature since I recorded this is single-directional panels of LEDs, so all the light is projected "down" out of the fixture instead of having to bouce off reflectors like incandescent bulbs do.

Lloyd Palmer i got mine through aliexpress, and have had zero problems with the last 50 12V bulbs of assorted sizes (multiple trailers). Chinese 120V bulbs sometimes incrementally fail due to insufficient rectifier/driver circuits, but the 12V bulbs may be too simple to fail...lol. Color and how many elements is a personal choice. i like "cold white" and 50ish LEDs, but some think them harsh and like yellower "warm white"...

Corkey Bergamo 12V DC bulbs shouldn't have this issue, but i have heard of 120V bulbs causing interference with sensitive TVs and radios due to bad driver electronics. Unfortunately, the solution seems to be trying different brand bulbs until one doesnt interfere.

Casey Sewall Well, that's annoying! If you go to Aliexpress.com and search what you need, you'll find lots of competing vendors with different lot sizes, led counts (brightness), color (cold or warm white, or even totally odd colors if you want something like a green porch light), etc...

I tried to replace my clearance lites with LED lights but then don’t work, I tested them by grounding them and tucking them to the positive side of my battery they work fine. I put them in the clearance lite on RV they don’t work...

Either reverse polarity or the contacts aren't meeting.

I have the exact same dual bulb light fixtures in my rv. What specs do I need to consider when shopping for the t10 LED bulb? For example wattage, lumens, etc. Amazon has some but many say for auto lighting. Will they will work? I'm interested in getting some really bright powerful bulbs. Would a 350 lumen LED t10 be about 5watts? A 800 lumen bulb about 10 watts? A 130 lumen bulb about 2watts? Can you recommend a few good bulb brands to purchase please? Cool white is the whitest, natural white is more yellow and warm white is in between, I think. Thanks

klaus von Himmlisch Manufacturers horribly lie about lumen output. Most people find 50-75 LEDs (.15A/1.8W to .2A/2.4W@12V) to be good light output for most fixtures. 90-150 LEDs are blinding and only useful if compensating for not enough bulbs for your area. One factor I didn't get into is that LEDs are directional, so if you are using flat panel bulbs that direct all the light in the desired direction, you can use fewer LEDs for the same effective light.

oh, thanks GGH. So it seems it's the number of LEDs corresponds to the other specs. I especially need the very bright bulb over the 3 burner rv gas cooking range because that's got only one bulb socket and a filter fan. Need to see what I'm cooking. But the fixtures have mirror like reflective on back side, so full led around bulb may be ok. I wonder if Phillips and Samsung lie too?! Such a shame about the liar companies. Thank you

5:40---wrong. The polarity to the lamps can be reversed and I've had to re-wire a few of them.

I'm trying to change all my new LED lights to incandescent. I get terrible headaches from LED lights. Also, I eyes start to burn and feel fatigue with LED's, so they all have to go.

Cheap LED lights at home can flicker because they are running on AC and not rectified correctly. In the (DC) RV, they don't flicker, so if you're having issues maybe try different frequencies (color temperature). Many people get eyestrain from the harsh blue-white in exposed fixtures, so try a warm white or even lower wattage yellow.
