I know this is country but I have a beautiful pillow sham and I hang it over my screen door and place the long side between screen door and outer door!! Keeps just enough sun out and the heat also!! Locking your door makes sure it's sealed tight to keep heat or cold out too!! 18 months full-time camper home living (3 totally different ones) with husband great Dane pitbull and miniature Australian Shepherd/Pomeranian!!😂😂❤😎

That’s not country-that’s a camping genius idea. Might not be the most decorative look but sounds like it fixes the problem!! I might have to build on that idea❤️❤️💃

Very creative! Thanks for sharing! I was going to use the Velcro strips, but then I remembered they didn’t hold well in my minivan either when I used them for screen doors (even on the inside of my sliding doors, they didn’t hold) but Alien tape holds up very well in the heat. I tried it on my dashboard first, and it held all summer long - then came up very clean too. I made some fitted Reflectix panels for my Dodge Grand Caravan, and gave them to a friend with the same vehicle after I got a pickup truck, prior to getting our travel trailer. I use magnetic-holding blackout curtains it the truck (even though all the windows are tinted…because…southern NC summers😰). What I used to help hold up the Reflectix (because I cut them slightly smaller than they needed to be), what the little plastic suction cups. Now, they don’t stick to every surface but they’re definitely good on windows. I like your son’s idea for installing the magnets too! 👍🏻 It must be in his DNA 😎. Thanks for the quick tips!!

Sounds like you are busy coming up with ideas too. These “do it yourself” projects are always a battle of experimenting. I’ve never used alien tape, but I’m going to look into that. Specially, living in Florida!

@@GlueStickChick haha! I consider myself a bit of a crafty hack - mainly because I don’t want to buy something if I can make it!! 🤣 to be honest it really kept me busy during Covid, but I’m loving, personalizing the new RV too! I need to cover these vents! We’ve been getting Florida weather and in August, we’re actually headed there to visit family, so I better get busy(er) LOL!! On that topic, I know that your’s is mainly a crafting channel, but as a fellow RVer, in a tropical environment, how have you done with battling humidity in the RV?

Thank you for taking the time to share this great idea. My husband and I just purchased a travel trailer and this morning I was almost blinded by the light coming in our trailer lol

I think a "standard" skylight pillow measuring 14"x22" would also work for your skylight.

Some of the simplest solutions come from being so desperate to come up with an idea to resolve a problem. Good luck!

Brilliant!!! Thank you so much for sharing your great idea! Sorry I can't return the favor with an idea of how to cover the window in your door. Good luck getting a response about that from someone else.

Hey Lynn The only thing that REALLY matters is that you can use this simple idea to get rid of an impossible problem!! BTW My front door is shaded by my awning ❤️

Hmmm , i discovered just closing the flyscreens , also helps cool the van , but still allows the light , and air to flow . My van has two such skylights , and a huge panoramic skylight . This thing is something like 800x500 mm , just to give you an idea of just how large it is . I just close the flyscreen here as well . I also covered the open side windows , and closed the windscreen off completely . Nothing fancy just the standard blinds , with a towel over the side . The result was a pleasantly cool van , with no fans . I do have two doors , and yes both of these were open , along with a fully opened awning .

Hey Mickey, sounds like you have been very creative in your van situation. Sure wish I had a fly screen! I’m glad that you found everything that works for you. There’s a challenge in all of these RV options and it’s worth working them out to be able to have the blessing of travel! Thanks for sharing

Thanks so much ❣️😁 Our shower is in the bedroom in our 5th wheel and i was struggling with ways of how i was going to block the light coming through this huge sky lite. I thought of the velcro strips but i knew they would melt from the heat.. So Thanks again for a great idea.. Cheers 🥂😁

Wow, that makes my quick and risky RU-vid worth it Jacqueline. Thanks for taking the time to share. Sometimes the simplest things takes us campers to get so frustrated that we go to any length to fix it and then have the nerve to share🥰

I used thick foam ,cut it bigger than size, then tie a strip of material as a handle ,around the middle.. It blocks the hole, easy to remove, no trouble..

where do you get reflective cover? Great idea, thanks. I did the velcro black cover on my door of my 5th and it's still good, and I also live in FL

I got the reflective cover from a large roll that I bought at Home Depot that did the whole RV. I think you could probably buy a small windshield reflective cover at dollar tree?? We just got back from camping. I made the skylight cover five years ago and just now see I need to replace the elastic string cuz it’s finally starting to lose its elasticity.
