ℹ️ About the Episode: Visit Mount Rainier, the Olympic Peninsula & North Cascades-and never drive more than 3.5 hours between campsites! The last 10-day RV itinerary we created was for the Tetons, Yellowstone and Glacier. Thanks to your feedback, we created another one for Washington state. We enjoy curating our past visits into a single episode to help you plan your next trip with all the information we wish we'd had when planning! Especially these particular national parks-due to their size, it can be difficult to know where to start. If you're planning an RV trip to either Mount Rainier or the Olympic Peninsula, don't forget that we have even more information on our blog for these two national parks. The Pacific Northwest is on every RVer's bucket list, so we wanted to share the most information possible. Of course, your best memories will be the things you stumble across and discover on your own, so leave some room for spontaneity in your planning.

Washington is my home state of 25 years before moving for work. Growing up we camped all the places you featured. Thank you for doing it justice in your video! The 9 months of rain living there can get old, but those 3 summer months, no place like it on Earth. Cheers, and safe travels!

I just rode from Alberta thru glacier national park, thru Idaho and followed the Lewis and Clark trail west across Oregon. Turned north up past mount Hood thru Seattle and started heading eastwards home thru the inland cascade highway and back up thru BC and the Icefield parkway back to home. The inland cascade highway was beautiful on the bike in the early morning with the mist and slight rain.

Enjoyed seeing the old footage in Washington. We lived in Seattle for eleven years before retiring and moving to Central Oregon. We just finished up hosting at a campground near Yellowstone and are currently working our way through Arizona with our Airstream Classic. Over the past week or so we have been in Eagar, AZ and Show Low, AZ. We are currently camping near Payson, AZ on the Mogollon Rim. Tomorrow we will be heading for Flagstaff, AZ (NAU is my Alma mater) and staying at the Elks Lodge in Sedona. From there, we will head for Phoenix and visit relatives for a few days and then to Anaheim, CA for a couple of days at D-Land (We are still young at heart). Finally, we will head home after having been gone since May 16th. Wow! What a summer! Keep up the great videos guys and maybe we will see you on the road.... 😄

Did you know you were only about 10 miles from John Muir's childhood home. It's a little county park just north of Indian Trails. The homestead isn't there anymore, but there is a nice little trail around the lake, which was his backyard.(Ennis Lake, Marquette Co. )

Great itinerary! I live in Gig Harbor and go to these places a lot with my RV, been to every single place you mentioned many times, plus many, many more in the area. I’ve actually camped at almost every Washington State park, just a few left to try, and go to the national parks all the time. One note for those considering Vancouver Island, it’s 500 bucks to take an RV of any significant size over there and get it back, so be aware before you get too excited. And if you think you’re going to be clever and take BC Ferries out of mainland Canada….no better. Though if you’re on an Airstream/F250 budget, this might not be a dealbreaker. Another great option for a side trip if you have the time is to get over to the other side of the Cascades. Seeing how different the east side of Washington is compared to the west side is really interesting.

In the intro, you mentioned some of the highlights of Seattle to visit. My husband is from Seattle proper (Queen Anne Hill & Magnolia). One non “touristy” place we always love to visit is the city park, Discovery Park, which is still owned by the Army, I believe. It was established during WWII. One time I saw an old red brick smokestack coming out from the ground. It puzzled me. Hubby’s cousin is an engineer who used to work at the park. He said it was part of an old missile bunker. It’s not labeled nor is it accessible. In the conversation I later learned the story of how Boeing built a fake city on top of the plant during WWII to disguise it from enemy planes. One tourist attraction we did recently and loved was the underground tour of Seattle. Seattle is always cool to visit, but the surrounding areas you all hit are always better in my opinion. I’m a lover of the great outdoors kind of gal.

Great video. We have camped at Newhalem more times than I can count (Deception Pass also😊). However, you might want to check your ferry information. I don’t believe there is a ferry from Port Townsend to Vancouver Island. The Anacortes ferry used to go there but is no longer going all the way to Vancouver Island until sometime in the next 5 or more years. There is a private ferry (the Black Ball) from Port Angeles. Otherwise you have to go to Vancouver and take the BC Ferry over.

Correction ~ wonderful video, but the mentioned side trip to Victoria, BC (with your vehicle) is on the Black Ball ferry out of Port Angeles, WA. Not Port Townsend. Mount Rainier in one day? I highly disagree. If you’re gonna spend that much time on the road, switching locations, just take a location out of the list and stay at Rainier an extra day. Stay in the Olympics an extra day. The Olympics alone have mountains, beaches, Rainforest and geothermal Hot Springs all within an hour or less drive of each other. IMO don’t try to do everything in one week. Pick two at most.

Did you really say Mt Rainer can be done in a day? No it can't unless you just want to drive up one side and take a little peak if the mountain is even out. Crazy! I lived in Seattle and have been there dozens of times since the 70s and have not even scratched the surface! Just to be technical Ballard locks are not outside of Seattle they are outside of downtown but the equivalent of N 45th street and Seattle goes up to N 145th street. FYI for those who may not know taking the side trip to Neah Bay is not part of the National Park, Cape Flattery is on the Makah Indian Reservation, a permit is required for hiking and beach combing is not allowed.
