We are heading to Alaska in June and plan on staying through September. So sad to see you have to end your trip early, prayers that everything went ok. After following your episodes all the way through and being so explicit on the sights and fun you had we would have enjoyed seeing Banff and Jasper with you. We are definitely making notes on your journey to encompass them on our journey very soon. I am anxious to see your budget on all that you did and experienced. How much Canadian money would you suggest that we have on hand? Your a very loving couple and may God pour many more blessings upon your travels.

Terry, thank you very much. While we did have to cut our trip short a couple of weeks it was absolutely the right call. It also gives us a great reason to go back😉 As for CDN cash, we recommend enough to fill your vehicle once in case you encounter a gas station where the internet isn’t working (for debit/credit). There were also a few campgrounds (E.g. Yukon Government campgrounds 20$/night) that only took cash. But generally I think you will find nearly all businesses take Visa and Mastercard. We wish you safe travels and hope you have a fantastic adventure!

SO.....after watching your wonderful videos, we went to plan B, took the plunge, and bought a small motorhome! now I need to watch all your videos again to pick up more tips on camping etc. I'm sure it will be a much better trip NOT having to hunt for motels etc. and watching all the nature instead of city stuff! Any tips would be greatly appreciated! thanks for the great videos!!

Congratulations Al! If you dont have them already we recommend two books, the Milepost , and the Church’s book, a Guide to Camping in Alaska. We also recommend the RVing to Alaska- Original FB group. I hope episodes 1, 2, 11 and 12 of our series might have some info worth reviewing again…and all the others too😉 We wish safe travels and a wonderful adventure … enjoy your new RV!!!

Absolutely love your videos. Have started looking into a 2024 rv trip because of your adventures!! Do you have a copy of your itinerary you would be willing to share? I would love to pay you for your expert itinerary. Just the vacation we would love!

Hi Donna, thank you very much for your kind feedback. We are genuinely happy you've enjoyed the series and found it helpful! Of course we recommend every Alaskan adventurer develop an itinerary that is hopefully best suited to their individual interests and abilities but we can certainly share ours with you if you'd like it and can provide us an email to send it to. All we'd ask in return is to share our videos with others you think might find them of interest. Kindest regards, Terry and Cindy

Thank you! This is amazing! What a trip! A question: did you drive with the rv to Stewart?
@TrueNorthCamping
@TrueNorthCamping Год назад
Thanks Remi! We actually camped at Meziadin Provincial Park and just drove the truck the 40 miles into Stewart. Meziadin is a very nice park on a pretty lake (with a few grizzlies around - see episode 10). Having said that, while the Stewart Hyder Rd is a bit narrow in spots, I would have no problem taking our RV down it - the road was in good condition. Hope this helps.

What a spectacular presentation. I've been watching all your videos carefully as we will be heading to Alaska from Ohio in May for a 4 month adventure. Thanks for sharing your trip in such detail. This video was equally as informative, and I enjoy the background music you add. Six years ago, we tent camped thru Canada & Alaska, but we will have an older small motorhome this time and will be taking our good ole time to stop and enjoy. Thank you. Keep sharing those videos.

Thanks very much Mucus Legg. And for what its worth, a small motorhome and and mindset to 'take your good ole time' ;) is a great way to make this trip. Hope you have a fantastic time!!!

Can't believe you drank the Sour Toe! 😂 You are much more adventurous in this respect than I. Out of all the YT Alaska video series we have watched for our upcoming AK trip, yours was one of the most informative and enjoyable. Wonderful commentary, beautiful videography, and great editing. I greatly appreciate all the time and effort it takes to share these with us and look forward to more.

Thank you very much Maisley Adventures, that kind of feedback is genuinely appreciated and means a lot. We hope you have a wonderful Alaskan adventure….and if you do make it to Dawson City, try a Sourtoe Cocktail. Think of the bragging rights! And it’s always a great conversation starter! 😉

This is a trip I want to do in 2025. Right now I have a 35' 5th wheel but I'm considering selling it and buying something smaller and a bumper pull. Looking forward to the cost. I live in Ontario too near Newmarket. My guess is $25,000, I'll see how close I am.
@TrueNorthCamping
@TrueNorthCamping Год назад
Hi Chris, we know the Newmarket area very well! There were lots of large 5th wheels that made this trip but I can really appreciate your consideration to downsize for this type of trip. For what its worth, thats exactly what we did. Our previous trailer was a 29 footer - we bought the 21' Rockwood because it still provided everything we needed and would be easier to haul and handle the Alcan (and future adventures) and to find campsites we'd fit. Have a great time planning your adventure!

Thank you so much for sharing your amazing trip! I was really inspired when I was watching the videos, so my wife and I made a decision that we are going to go to Alaska with our travel trailer this summer😀. As the residents of BC, we are wondering, as Canadians, how did you guys get the cellphone and data services in Alaska? Do you have any recommendations about USA cellphone plans? Thank you! ❤
@TrueNorthCamping
@TrueNorthCamping Год назад
Lei, thanks so much for your kind comments. We genuinely appreciate it and are really glad you’re going to make the trip. With regards to using a phone in Alaska, When we went last year Rogers (our local cell phone carrier) offered US roaming for $12 per day up to 20 days per month. So if you were there for all of July let’s say you’d pay for 20 days not 31. Basically it was 240/mo. Obviously it was pretty pricey but the good thing was it used whatever US network was available at your location so it gave good coverage and didn’t limit you to a single US network and it provided good data access, equal to our regular Rogers account. Our recommendation would be to check with your cell provider in BC and see what US roaming plans they have currently. Hope this helps. Have a fantastic adventure! I
@leipan6507
@leipan6507 Год назад
Thank you for your recommendation! I really appreciate the time and patience you took to answer my question in such a detailed way! It's very helpful! 👍 We are working on comparing the plans between what our local Rogers offers and what the current cell provider can provide to us. Hopefully, we can have the decision soon.☺ Looking forward to having your new video to learn more!

I am really enjoying this series. Very well done and I always look forward to the next episode. We are Australians and will be doing this trip this year and wonder if you can share the timeline of your journey to help with our planning. Many thanks.

@TrueNorthCamping Год назад
Hi Clive, glad you’re enjoying the series! As for timing, we went later in the season than many. We left home in early July. After spending time on the Alcan and in Yukon including 5 days in Dawson City we crossed into Alaska July 28. We crossed back into Yukon September 1. While in Alaska we spent 5 days in Valdez, Seward, Homer and Denali. Our other stops were shorter. Being there later in the season did mean the weather may have been wetter and cooler than June-July, but it also meant smaller crowds and few mosquitoes. Hope this helps…enjoy your trip!!!!

Totally enjoying your videos! We are planning our trip from Wisconsin to Alaska for next year. Your videos are the most down to earth and informative. Taking copious notes. Also, we travel with 2 shelties! Binney and Nick. P.s. love your stained glass lamp in the background. Here is my new you tube channel: youtube.com/@what-a-view-ml2uq?si=rjiVsjuchDIcI6aH

Thanks so very much, that is genuinely appreciated. We’re glad that you’ve enjoyed them and hopefully found them helpful. As for camera equipment, our slr is a Sony a6000 (with 1 wide angle lens and 2 different telephoto lenses), it’s relatively small and affordable, and we also used our cell phones (iphone SE) quite a bit, and our Thinkware dash cam. Hope this helps.

@TrueNorthCamping
@TrueNorthCamping Год назад
Hi Randy, we were there in the first week of August so I can only speak about that timing. The crowds weren't too big, there was no mosquitoes and the weather was varied. Some days of full sun and others with rain. Temps then were in the high 60's, low 70's but if youre taking a glacier cruise, you will want some warm clothes. Hope this helps. Have a great trip!
