When I bought my new RV the dealer had a Master key that I used to open the units on the lot to see them

I saw places on the new lock for a key. How is this better or safer then?

See our blog post for details. It's a different key than the ones your trailer came with. There are of those in circulation than the keys your trailer came with. The real benefit of the lock is the fob it came with. We never use our keys anymore.

Question: Can a key from another RV open this lock? Didn't show that and we've heard that it's not any better. We have to replace our lock on our RV and would like to go with the wireless.

I agree. The advantage of the keypad is convenience, but since a key will still open it, doesn't seem that it would be any more secure. Costs $250!

No.The key that comes with another RV cannot open another RV. Theoretically there are probably other RV Lock keys that can open it. But how many RVers out there are looking to break into other RVs with a key.

It IS more secure because there are fewer RV Lock keys in circulation. Someone who is willing to pay $250 for the lock is probably not going to want to break other RVs that have their same lock.

Great question +erupt6900 It's powered with AA batteries. See our post "keyless-rv-lock-handle" at LiveWorkDream.
