I just happened upon your channel, love your mods! Very clever. Hubby & I have been rving for over 25 yrs. We are not fulltimers....yet :) but close currently just penny pinching snowbirds and getaways whenever possible. I have been searching ideas on small space saving techniques and even though we do have quite a bit of storage in our class C when living full time I know space will become very valuable. We also do not want to "mess up" the home in any way and I love the idea of using the holes already there( like the small hooks). We too have our rv the same as it was when bought new ,part was we were not sure if we were going to trade it in or keep.. we decided to keep it. (You have inspired me to finally make our rv into a home, Thank you for sharing this video :)
Holy Cow!!! YES ... my rv has one smoke detector right above a fold out where I sometimes use a toaster ... and my stick house has an alarm between laundry and bathroom that is super sensitive to moisture as well as the tiniest bit of kitchen smoke. I am usually moving a fan or waving a towel, but will try the shower cap - brilliant!
I really enjoyed seeing all of the modifications you have done, you are so very handy! I would love to hear more about micro greens and fresh herb gardens. Looking forward to seeing your next video soon.
I have to be honest...I don't have the patience for long videos but I can't get enough of your videos. They are so full of amazing ideas...the little liquor cabinet was genius and I love the crocheted pouch. So glad I stumbled across your channel! Keep it up!
@CrasyLadtCrankyDog, Please, PLEASE, show us more about how you created the little drawer in front of your sink for your dishwashing items. That is so clever, but I can’t figure out how you create the hinge and interior drawer walls. And, WOW!, the wine cupboard with 2 bottle slots. :-)
I just love you! I'm so glad you're back! I just discovered you tonight and I'm going to be watching all of your videos here like crack lol you're very knowledgeable and you have a Keen Eye for practicality. So many great little ideas for space savers and being a minimalist. Thank you so much you're absolutely lovely.. Bob Wells from cheap RV living should definitely interview you .. You're fabulous and truly help the community of Nomads💜💜
New subscriber, here. I carried a garden kneeling pad, as well, in my SUV when car 🏕 camping. So versatile, handy, lightweight. Back rest, bench cushion, dry pad for getting under stuff, sit upon on damp ground, inflating tires, etc. I have it in the house now, under the sink in the bathroom. I use for cleaning the tub to save my knees from the tiles.
I was just cruising around for mods and found your videos. I have to say your mods are the most interesting and best I've seen. Really enjoy your videos.
Go ahead and break something LOL, I agree! When I bought my “new to us” RV, it already had a small dent in the passenger door as I told my husband I even like the dent in the door because the pressure of keeping it perfect was already gone. Love your videos. Would love them even more it you could minimize the “um”s that distract from your content. I know it’s really hard to do but as a professional speaker I can advise you to just stop talking when searching for words until you have your thoughts arranged to go on, and if it’s a long pause, it’s easy to edit it out. Doing this will take your videos to the next level, and you deserve to be at that next level! How about some videos on your favorite camping recipes that are not typical camping foods. Best regards 😘
We are new owners of a Roadtrek Zion motor home and stumbled across your videos. Love your previous ones and so happy you have done a new one. You have done some brilliant things! Since you asked, I would love to see more about how you cook meals in the van.
Oh I am very inspired and impressed and encouraged. I absolutely love what you’ve done. Your modifications look fabulous and are such great ideas. You have inspired me so much that I have changed my thinking from “I’ll have to get/pay someone to do this and that”, to “I could do that” and I have added to my list of things I want to learn. Thank you so much for your inspiration. I am really enjoying your videos. 👍 🙏
We borrowed our friends Hymer and I discovered a perfect spot for flat items under the counter, above the refrigerator. There is a large amount of valuable space in there!
You found the secret compartment 🤣 (I inadvertently showed it off in my first "tour of the van" video and received a lot of thank-you emails from owners who never knew 👍).
You are SO down to earth! Love it! Great job! You are like a breath of fresh air! Thank you! We are new to RV world...we bought an older 5'th wheel, intent is this is our mobile hotel room - we moved 350 miles from our families...living on SS and having many animals...more land and a place we could afford to live on SS alone was priority...unfortunately, it meant a big move...also, with the turn of events going on in the country today...IF we had to give it all up and leave...we chose this RV with that in mind...loving all your neat ideas and amazed at how much you know how to do! Very impressed!
Would enjoy hearing your comments on trip planning (route planning with rv/van in mind), where you store van when not in use, and also on dealing with black tank (or cassette) in new places. Very glad to see new video! Carry on!!
Hey Crazy lady! Ive only just found you're channel and im so glad i did. I love your content and wbat you share. The tips and tricks arw so helpful. I just purchased my first RV yesterday!!! Its a 23 foot Winnibago and i can't wait to hit tbe road and start exploring. Thank you so much for the video's you have made already. My RV has a cassette toilet also, so seeing you're video on how to empty them was so helpful to me. And the shower cap trick over the smoke alarm, how clever. Looking forward to watching more of you're adventures. Take care. Love from a Aussie friend from down under ❤🙏
I happened upon your older video's a few weeks ago and then noticed that there were no recent ones and then today... BOOM~! you're back! You have great ideas and I enjoy listening to you present them. Very easy to follow how you have improved your van to suit you. Your video's are very much appreciated. Please Keep doing them.
I just found your channel and I love it! We have a Roadtrek but I can use a lot of your mods in our van too! Thank for sharing, I would love to see cooking videos too!
You rock girl! I went back and watched a few older vids. Love the frig storage, the privacy curtain and so many more,, But this one is my favorite! Learning from a seasoned traveler is like candy! Can't get enough.Thank you for posting this and I will watch for anything coming down the way from you! BTW, your hair is lovely!
Aww thank you I just ripped the kitchen out on a whim, now I feel much better. You are right, doing it changed my mentality towards what the van was 😊🇬🇧👍 Ps to put a new one in lol
Absolutely amazing, could you please do a video showing that cool storage hack you have your utensils in next to the stove/cooktop on the side wall, pretty please.
Yes. I stayed until the end. Love this video and all of the modifications you have done to your cute little home! I love that FAN!!! I'm not on the road yet but I will have to get one, maybe before I leave home! Stay safe out there and God bless.
Please share instructions on how to crochet your atlas holder! Please include how you attached it. Not-quite-newbie crochet person here. I would love to be able to make such pockets to put in all sorts of places! Thank you!
I'm new to your channel and haven't looked through everything yet, so if this is already covered please ignore. Would you please (if you haven't already) do a video on your inside herb garden? How are you growing them, do you ever have issues with tiny gnats or other bugs, etc.? Total gardening newbie with brown thumb here, but I like to cook with fresh herbs so I'd like to learn how to better grow them inside. Thank you!
Great video for your return to RU-vid! We share some similar mods, maybe not done the same way, but with the same intention. I'm so glad to see you still have your Hymer. Many have traded up to much more expensive vans. For me though, the Aktiv has pretty much all that is necessary (albeit with a hodgepodge of hacks). Maybe in another video you can talk about your travel habits: choosing a place to visit, making reservations (since RVing has exploded), and prepping for the trip. Just throwing that out there. Glad you're back in the mix!
Too funny that I was just thinking I hadn't seen anything from you in a while and checked to see if you still had a site up. Enjoyed your mods...always interesting to see how owners make their spaces their own. You shared a lot of good ideas, thanks! Wish they still made this van...it had some issues but was the best under 21' van offered and had lithium. It had everything on my wish list except an outdoor shower.
Thanks - yes I'm very happy with the Aktiv and excited to see more designs coming to the USA now too. And soooo many awesome self builds out there - this community is amazing.
Currently reorganizing our small trailer, your fridge and food storage video was immensely helpful. We got the taller liquid containers and bins sized to our fridge. Now this video has given me so many ideas. The crocheted net is timely, because I need a fruit hammock. I also need a place for hubby to drop his wallet, keys and mask. Your catchall bin by the door has inspired me. Thanks!
So glad you're back! I thought we'd lost a RU-vid treasure after I'd only just found you. A few things: 1. What was/is your job that you have all these sweet skills with Betty? 2. OMG that wine storage!!!!!! 3. Do you have plans to come to Alaska? 4. What level do you want to be friends? Like, BFFs? Or like, book club or crochet buddies? I'm here for it.
I would love to see a video about growing microgreens in a van while traveling! Could you please share what you use to grow sprouts? Thank you for all your great videos!
What a great surprise seeing the notification of a new video! I am so happy to see you again! What you have done to your Hymer is remarkable. I love how you have used every inch of your van. Fantastic ideas. Thank you for sharing them with us. PLEASE keep your videos coming. I would love to see how you did your dimmer switch. I never use the overhead lights because they are too bright, same with the lights on the awning.. Thanks for being back. You were missed. I still have the Hymer cutout hanging from my dining room light!
Yeah! Great to see your video. What great mods you've done. I love the idea of crocheting stretchy cord for the pocket you did under the table - looks nice, too. I will try that.
We just found your channel while looking for thoughts around fridge storage (from 2019) and are now getting caught up with your journey by watching more of your vids! Thanks for sharing with the community, your tips are quite helpful! We just subscribed and look forward to keeping up with you and Alfie! (hope I spelled Alfie correctly :)
Just recently discovered your channel 😊. Would love to get your take on social (+/-) community issues, pest control (especially keeping mice out of the entire unit during extended stays), as well as security (do and don’t). Thanks so much!
Hi again, I would like to hear more about keeping the herb plants alive and their care..I have no green thumb, but plan on having fresh herbs onboard. Thanks
Wow, super efficient and well built too... YOU ROCK! A little aside here, if you don't already have security cameras, maybe think about looking into some for your safety.
I am very curious to see what you plan to do with the bed area. I also have an Aktiv and want to rip out the whole bed/storage area and make it work better for me.
Wow, so many great ideas in just your kitchen alone. Thanks for publishing another video! Since you asked, I would love to see a video on how you grow your fresh herbs and microgreens.
This was an awesome video. We have a teardrop trailer and a tiny fridge. I can get about 10 days worth of food in mine with lots of prep. I like some of your ideas and will adopt them. Also great tip with the hair ties!! Thanks for the video.
Currently, I have a Class A, 32 foot ... 2003 vintage and love the livability, but not the size for things like Farmer's Market/fruit/veg stands, etc. and toying with different ideas. BUT, love your vlogs both for RV and house (1 br/1bath in rural NW MT) ... learned a lot. I thought I was organized, but I always learn tips from someone else ... repurposing screw holes!!! RE future vlogs: microgreens ( I grow them at home, but wondering your procedure/spot on the road), more on WeBoost and antennas and your setup as in how you set up when you park, cooking/kitchen ... do you have an oven? (My rv has a gas oven and mwave/convection .. I use the gas oven and cannot quite imagine life without it: sourdough everything, pies, etc.) and if you don't have an oven do you do breads and how? Really, whatever you are interested in, I think you will make interesting for "us". Cheers!! *** P.S. LOVE the bed reduction!
Two women, a Golden Doodle and a Poochon are going full time in a Travato 21’ in 3 weeks. I’m more concerned about losing the nutrition aspect of ‘normal residency’ than about downsizing. I’ve been milling and baking whole wheat sourdough for 3 years, along with fermenting veggies. We’re 65 and 70 so it’s now or never and we spent 8 years full timing in large Rvs so I have some idea what’s ahead RVing. But your vids just blew me away with the wisdom of getting the right containers for that micro-fridge!! Amazon is loving me. Thank you for solving so many of my storage issues!
Thanks Mary. I use a roomy screen tent but not a pop up one. It is fairly easy to put up (especially with a helper) and packs down into a bag that is easy to stow and only about 3 ft long. Amazon link: amzn.to/3j4KjaK
Hello, so many ideas I'd like in your kitchen. And the storage for your wine, where did you find it? Glad I see another video from you. And me too, I will like to see a video on how you grow your fresh herbs and microgreens. I'm thinking to keep a citronella geranimum in my rv and it will fabulous to have my own fresh herbs too.
I really enjoyed your latest video, you do such a good job! .....I would like to see a video on washing up dishes etc. .......I have a 19 Airstream trailer and it has a very limited grey tank so I am concerned that I would run out of water when boondocking, however,I need to get my dishes etc properly clean...any advise would be welcome.
I am wondering about your carpet.... Is it plastic? I have friends that have some shag plastic carpet that works well for them and that I like very much.... I am wondering how you ended up fitting your carpet. It is hard to find runners wide and long enough. On RU-vidr Jarrod Tocci video, he recently showed some custom vinyl mats from a company named Inhabit I believe. It is made of marine vinyl and edged. I have known of marine vinyl for a while and have been thinking of making a rug from it. Thanks so much for your videos! I have an Airstream Interstate Class B - 2007 and love it.
Hi Katy - my "rug" is actually a couple of smaller runners and rugs that I cut to fit the space and they are "plastic" - the smaller pieces make it easier for me to shake them out often. Mine where purchased at Target (USA).
I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT ONE OF YOUR BINS - The clear bin on the slide under the front side of your bed. Was that a cutting board to the right of it? Was that cutting board also a lid for the bin?
