2022 was another successful year for our club. While there were not very many fantastic soaring days, a good number of new pilots accomplished their first solo's. We also had lots of folks come out for introductory flights, fulfilling dreams and checking items off of their bucket lists.
With the lifting of Covid restrictions, the inter-club "Mayfly" competition allowed more activity, the annual Mayfly competition was finally held after being missed for two years, though it was organized at the beginning of September at the Gatineau Flying Club. A few of our club members participated, but the weather did not cooperate, and so no tasks were declared, though we did take the opportunity to fly over some new terrain close by.
With the US border open, the area clubs were also able to hold the annual Lake Placid Wave Camp, and some folks were able to try wave and ridge flying.
While the fall weather did not produce many soaring days, the conditions produced some of the most vivid fall colours seen in years, and the view from above was fantastic!
Much thanks to those who shared their photos to make this video possible.
