yo, this song sounds so happy and upbeat but is so dark, which kinda really reflects how ruby has been like leading up to the latest volume, how much she puts on that brave sparky personality for everyone else while neglecting her own emotions, and while some people may not consider Pyrrha's exit to be self inflicted, it was a correct portrayal, she knew there was little to no chance she would survive, but she had to try anyway another amazing upload
UGH YOU ATE This song is SO Ruby with all the tragedy... Just tragedy in her life. My favorite part was when you cut to Neos Penny and Pyrrha beating up on her because those are the people she couldn't save in the context of the show AND how you portrayed it in the song, and the past was really coming back to haunt her in more ways then one: genius
Dark lyrics with upbeat music, could anything sum up Ruby better. The story of the lyrics really sums up Ruby's journey and how she came to be in such a dark place. WBY are damn lucky The Tree gave Ruby therapy instead of letting her be erased, they better step up in V10 (please greenlight V10!). As always your AMVs are incredible.
Actually, the Tree was going to reshape her into someone new. The old her will be erased and reincarnated in a new body. The Tree eating you up, recycling you and spitting out someone new in your place was only half the truth. In the end, the choice is ours. Ruby was allowed a chance to choose whether or not to become someone else. Even going as far as to show her Summer's memories. Especially the mistake her mom made. Which helped her realize that everyone makes mistakes, even our heroes. But Ruby was on the clock and if she didn't make her choice sooner, the Tree will choose for her.
0:38-0:43 uuu I like that, unique, fits love it whenever you use it here (even when it hurts like with "everyone ignores me, everyone steals" or "For once, I think I've bitten off more than I can chew") Love how you portrayed ruby's issue of always caring about others Also find it neat how the "girl in the cardigan" is mentioned here along with ruby, when you had made "cardigan" for penny a big part of it being her relationship with ruby
This goes really really well with the Achilles Come Down video, and the interpretative question of if Pyhrra was committing suicide by going off into a battle if she knew she couldn't win it.
The song has a very ambiguous ending, and can be interpreted in a number of ways, it seems you went with the more hopeful one, which is appreciated. (seeing that she was the girl that she dissuaded time and again, recognizing this, and casting those darker aspects of herself away, becoming someone new and finding an amount of freedom in it.) I must again praise your ability to transition from scene to scene in a flawless manner. Particularly that framing of Summer and Ruby seems like it was intended, even though neither scene had a similar pose at that specific instance, along with the smooth movement from her helping people to no one helping her. Truly dark subject matter, but this is an underlying idea of the story all together. It was not nice to see Ruby herself reach this part of her character, but it was necessary because now she can truly start to grow and escape the fairytale world she built for herself.
Ok, I’ve always considered this song an absolute bop despite its grim theme, but seeing it synced to such a fantastic AMV made me love it even more. From the rapidly changing fonts for the R in RWBY, to the inclusion of those quotation marks and parentheses and semicolons, not to mention the “photographs” the briefly flashed on screen, there were so many clever little tricks and bits of editing genius that were so impressive to witness. (The scenes you chose for when Penny talked about being ignored and stolen from were beyond perfect) But the part I immediately had to rewind to watch a few times before even finishing the video was 1:35-1:40 because that was such fantastic editing I was blown away. But 1:54-2:21 is definitely a close second because you absolutely knocked that out of the park as well. This whole video was such an incredible display of editing talent I think it just might have surpassed Rät as my favorite video of yours, and you know how much I enjoyed that one.
It's the first time I've heard this song. It feels like a guilty pleasure enjoying such an upbeat sounding song that's actually really dark. And that's what makes it work perfectly for Ruby. Her upbeat personality hiding her pains and struggles within. . . . Although thankfully, we know she survives her fall! Excellent video as you once again perfectly match the clips to the lyrics and at such a fast pace too!
The worst part about her hiding the pain was because she thought sharing would make her look weak in front of her team and makethem lose hope. It's a common misconception that leaders asking their friends for help is a sign of weakness. When in reality, it's a sign of strength. To be fair, she and her team were still reeling from the catastrophe they suffered in the last volume and barely had time to process it ever since they fell into Ever After. Not helped by the constant shenanigans they had to deal with in this freaky dimension while barely getting a moment to rest. It's no wonder her teammates barely noticed her pain.
oh my frikin god. This reflects Ruby's situation in RWBY so well. These clips show how Ruby suffered, her teenage mentality shaking from the pressure of the literal end of the world.
God, the editing on this one is PHENOMENAL, the constant energy really fit the song perfectly and the lyric choice was absolutely phenomenal, everything about this was just amazing!
Literally gasped when i saw this on my reccomended, i love my r (even w its subject matter haha) and after episode 8 i was like ohhh this so fits ruby. Great amv as always! I like the bit of the hopeful twist at the end with the "this petite girl short as can be is gonna jump now and be free" (esp considering that kurage-p's song "diary of an underage observer" confirms the girl didnt jump)
Duuuude this is so damn good seriously, the syncing up, the way you told a story with the clips and song in tandem, the stellar editing, color me thoroughly impressed!
Well, s**t. This song gave me the vibes... I've seen videos paired to this song before, but this one seems to fit Ruby Rose really well, especially after vol 9. You managed to find important characters that led to Ruby's depression, as well as give both the sad and joyful parts in visual form. I especailly like how well you finished, cause the final scene was both sad and happy. It fits the lyrics while also giving it's own message that the scene was meant to deliver. 10/10
Every time I see one of your AMVs I think 'this is the best one yet, they can't get any better', and then every time I am proven wrong again. Wow. I cried at this. Your talent for taking this show that we all love and putting it to such fitting music is breathtaking. I loved the little touch of the clips/photo segments. I do hope V10 has a bit more hope though, I've done too much crying at V9 now 🤣
