I remember when Monty passed, his family and friends at one point asked people not to send flowers, but to instead honor Monty by creating something. You did just that, thank you.

The problem wasn't that no-one on the team understood anime, the problem was disconnected groups working on story sections, working on action beats, and the overall direction was not in the control of the story section, and not giving a second draft to the overall structure. They literally did not know where they were going during episode 1. And referencing stuff can be done better by utilising its depths as well as its surface elements, but that is definitely not the core issue...

Monty is my greatest inspiration. RedvsBlue got me into animation. However I didn't really know him until around a 2 years ago. When I got into rwby and learned of his death, listened to cold, indomitable, that is when I began my sadness of his passing. I can't imagine the pain people must have felt 6 years ago now when he died, cause I was late to the funeral. His life was the end result of my dream. Thank you for making this, Keep Moving Forward🌹

I didn’t know about Monty until 2015, when I watched the remastered Boba Fett vs Samus Aran by Death Battle, which was made as an honor to him. The fact that the guy is the one who inspired my favorite web show gives him my respect. ✊

i remember in a podcast bernie burns talked about how a year or two after monty passed he took his kids sledding and he watched the sunset before it got too dark and cold outside and he just burst into tears missing monty

I feel like part of the charm in Rwby was watching everything grow. Not just the story but everything. The animation, the rendering, the background, the models, the quality, the writing, and of course the stories and characters.

i feel that, i've been around since S1 launched. its been an incredible journey.... joy, humor, suspense, Heartbreak.... then Hope. Monty has created a legacy, and im proud to say that i've enjoyed every bit of his vision, and cant wait to see how rwby eventually ends. Keep Moving Forward.

Honestly for one dude this is really good. I’m not a huge fan of the animation style, and prefer the V4+ style as a full show, but stuff like this is really neat for one off things like trailer remakes, and for sure this took a lot of effort. Props to you man, hope you continue to animate and grow.

@@RoundTableAnimation I'll be honest, I don't know much about animation but this is what I've observed: In the age of HD (especially considering this video is 5K), you can't cheat the lack of facial animations even in wide shots anymore... The original actually had a way around this (discounting the cell-shaded art style would've arguably made the stiff face less noticeable anyway due to flat 2D cartoons being able to get away with static faces and limited animation more often), they had Ruby have her hood up so they wouldn't have to animate her face (Much? If at all?) during the walking scenes. I completely understand if you didn't/couldn't emulate this due to the limitations of the model (I believe you said you were an animator, not a modeler in another video).

@@RoundTableAnimation Be careful with animation loops, when she walks you can see she's slipping on the floor (1:35). And when she's facing the wolves in the wide shot (2:12), her idle animation snaps (basically it doesn't loop properly). Other than that, her center of gravity is sometimes misplaced (1:15), and her facial expressions are really missing some life. Most of these issues disappear during the fight (the speed makes up for any mistake there could be) but during slow paces shots like in the beginning, it's important to polish details properly :) Finally, I would recommend toning down the sound FX so the music can take more "space". Perhaps you should use higher resolution textures too, especially for her skin (the dirt on her face is too low-res for close-up shots)

I love his animations and what they continued to do with it after his passing, but I'd definitely watch the series over again if they redid them all in this style

Yes I did!! I was not too sure how to do dynamics in the 3d program properly so I just hand animated the cape, the hair and the skirt!

I have absolutely no words from how beautiful this looks. Has to be one of the cleanest animations for fan-made RWBY content I've ever seen. I wasn't so sure in the beginning because RWBY looks weird in the way she was animated. But I continued on and the fight scene was amazing. You could clearly tell where she was, her face could be seen, and she TORE through those grimm. Keep up the good work!

This is pretty sweet. In the original, if you watch closely how she fights, she never swings the thing off center until she is using her power. If she doesn't use the gun to propel it, she is in the center as it pivots because she doesn't have the size or strength to swing it like you would swing a sword. Everything she does that requires brute strength, the gun does the work for her. The animators really put a great deal of thought into the physics of how someone small and weak could maneuver such a massive weapon. When she uses her power though, everything goes zero mass. So she can use the weightlessness to whip that around like a razor blade without firing a round briefly. Or at least it seems that way.

I absolutely loved it. The only big problem I saw was 2:13 the walk animation of the Beowolves was not matching their speed making it look like they were on ice. Otherwise fan-goddamn-tastic and beautiful.

The fight choreography was thrilling, dynamic camera angles, exciting pacing. So good. You even showed off some "smear frames" for the weapon, which I hadn't considered before in a 3D setting to be 'possible' in the same way as 2D. And now I've seen it done correctly, I _know_ I can make my own fight scenes look awesome by applying it. Thank you!!

The whole sequence from 3:00 is quite literally my favourite part. The way you changed camera angles and view points made everything feel so dynamic. My literal, only, gripe is that some sequences feel too fast to appreciate. Unfolding crescent rose happened like it was just spring loaded. Other than that, it was pretty beautiful to look at. Kinda hyped for White and Black chapeters...

The think I love most about this animation is that I can see your growth in experience. This start is a bit amateur, with regards to timing and movement, but as the animation goes on it gets better and better! It is clear that you learned how to do it better while you were doing this and that's great to see.

Not sure if you are fully aware, might be to close to the project to see, but you have done something very rare with this piece. You have successfully paid tribute to another artist, kept true to the spirit of their art, while simultaneously adding your own artist characteristics necessary to make it your own. I've been looking forward to the release of this! Can't believe I actually missed it. Your use of colors is superb, especially with backgrounds, and the instrumentals of Red Like Roses is absolutely gorgeous. The fight scenes are so fluid and I honestly think you added some really cool moves to Ruby's set. Not crazy about Ruby's model itself, but hey, that may just be because I'm used to the anime style. I hope you continue to make more work because this was just wonderful and is a great tribute to Monty too.

Choreography definitely stands out. While the original was fast paced and showy, this one is a little slow and practical. Evidence by the first cartridge she loaded before the last. But that was some fancy work, you're pretty good.

This is really impressive! Like other people, the animation itself isn't my style, but this obviously took a lot of effort. It's pretty crisp, clean, and fluid. Another thing not my personal cup of tea either was the more lowkey music. I do get wanting to not just use the Red Like Roses track and do your own thing; I respect it. The music just added a lot of punch to the original trailer. But, again, just a personal preference. This is still really amazing for a one-off animation!

The cinematography was excellent, The animation while stiff at times was also very good, the Ruby model is a little offputting but decent, and the Beowulf model is fantastically scary/creepy. Overall I’d say that this is a pretty great remake of the red trailer!

Not bad at all. My one suggestion would be to work on impact interactions. Little things like stepping too fluidly or not jerking when taking the recoil of a rifle is a subtle thing that we don't tend to notice when it's done well but can really mess with immersion when it's not there. Keep up the good work!
