That was Vacuo. And if you take a close look, there were Atlas Ships, Mistral ones, Vale ones, and what looks to be Vacuo ships too. They're united. And yes, the Amity Tower is there as well.
I love that Somewhat is dressed like Ruby with the scarf/cape thing, all the way down to the two tufts of hair on top of his head. His best friend that he looked up to. He emulated her so much that he wanted to be like her in his next life. Like the heroes in the books. The cat is kind of like Ruby. Everyone depends on them to keep their spirits up and fill their hearts with purpose. To pour into the people of the ever after, but there was no one to do it for the cat. Noone to send THEM to the tree. Like Ruby said "What about ME?". What about the cat? The cat couldn't say that, because they were following their "purpose". Ruby and the cat are the two different ways the same situation could have gone, and the cat clearly got the shorter end of the stick.
I know their both very similar to little red ridding hood which I think is adorable. O damn. Thats a new perspective on the cat that I haven't seen before. I like it. When I do my full rewatch of the series Ill definitely keep that in mind! It does suck that the Cat turned for the worst but I really cant blame it. Clearly the cat was very curious about Remnant and its creators so when Alyx couldn't keep her promise the cat lashed out in anger and sorrow. I really wonder if we'll come back to the EA.
@@miln25 Yeah, the difference being, Ruby questioned her own purpose. The cat kept trying to force themself to continue their purpose. One ascended, the other could not. We could also argue that if Alex never made that promise, the cat would never have become like this, another can argue that if someone was there to help the cat ascend they wouldn't have ended up like this. Now they won't ascend at all. Edit: I think there will be a return. We've gotta see the new Neo somehow.
@@EncyclopediaBrittanica Actually, from what I understand the cat can ascend now, because it was killed by Neo’s clone Jabberwalker, not the real thing. But that means that the original Jabberwalker can do the same.
I think the moment talking to the Blacksmith about Little was very important. Look at how kindness changed them so much. Then we think the people who defected from Salem because of kindness, and now Vacuo having all Remnant there with them. Ruby thinks she’s had no impact but really, it just wasn’t the intended impact. I’d bet they’re all at Vacuo coming together because of her, people are working together and safe because of her kindness and caring. I think that’s something I’d love to see carried over into V10. Also the whole balance sequence 10/10. The Brothers seem to think balance is locked in war, aka Salem and Ozma, but they can’t seem to create an ecosystem of balance well. Meanwhile RWBY is an example of balance, so they’ll be the ones to bring balance to Remnant.
Volume 10 is not greenlit yet, so they have done nothing for it yet, that's why no credit scene. Probably volume 10 will depend on the movie's success too. (Volume 7 had zero credit scene)
also, as for the end credits scene, they needed the promotion. Volume 10 is yet to be greenlit, RWBY needs a lot of financial support right now to keep going
I enjoyed how they had Weiss as the comedic relief this season and it makes sense. She's a rational thinker, up is up and down is down, and then they drop her in a world where you can literally walk in a circle by going in a straight line. The fact that the others just accept what is going on around them really accentuates this for me.
I thought all of her comedic relief parts were funny so they nailed that part. I just wish she got a bit more focus on how shes dealing with the Fall of her home.
That Raven scene makes the Yang and Raven confrontation take on an entirely different light Raven “it was mercy” what really happened to Summer and what did Raven see?
I have a little theory. So since neo is trying to find herself see what she’ll become after seeing Ruby pop off being a better version of herself and after seeing team rwby hug she will probably wanna be with them as in join there side therefore when she’s in the tree she will probably give herself a voice and when she’s done and comes back from the tree she goes through the portal and like the weapons smith said “when your needed” she will probably teleport to team rwby or just ruby when she’s in trouble and neo will help her and talk to her and switch to her side like emerald did and have there little 1 on 1 talk. But yeah that’s my “little theory”
It’ll be crazy if Neo actually gets a voice after all these years. I think since she’s ascending she’ll most likely have a change of heart and join our hero’s side
While I cant help ya on that BS end credits scene [ and holy shit someone really dropped the ball on that one ] I can give you a lil bit of Weiss comfort - Weiss was actually pretty important this season and given a lot of really good moments. A lot of people are upset that she was the 'funny character' - when in reality that's still very much in her wheel house. [Shes the Logical one. Shes the one that generally figures out something way before everyone else ( and still does even here ). But when she, a logical character, is dropped into a magical world of rocking-horse-flies and illogical landscapes [ right after losing her home ] ya kind just break a little bit. In vol 9 Weiss is singled out a lot or put into an instances of isolation. Shes the only one, originally, to hold the burden of truth about what happened in the Void. Shes the only one who tries to talk to Ruby, to which Ruby rejects, and leaves her standing alone. The Red Prince singles her out to yell at. The Cat singles her out with a title " Wise Huntress" [ and later notation of her being their least favorite person ] . When small shes often by herself [ even despite little being there shes often framed on her own ] One could , maybe, take that as her " standing " next to Ruby. But either way she was solo. She was the only one to stop and look for Ruby at the marketplace and help her. [ First time she saves Ruby in the Ever After] She was the only one to have a physical reaction to the attack. Shes the only one who understood what Jaune was going through, and probably the only one with the mature wherewithal to understand the extent of what his time in The Ever After has done to him. Weiss is the first one to notice Ruby being attacked in Paper town and Glyph slides over to save her [ which would be the 2nd time she saves Ruby ] Shes the only one to actually pinpoint and explain why Ruby felt the way she did and accept responsibility for it while everyone else was like "WhY sHe YelL aT uS n No TaLk??" . Shes the only one to take in the lesson of the Genial Gems, accepting her own issues quietly, and flipping it in a way as to allow Jaune to accept himself. The moment with the Gems, in particular is pretty important since it's a direct reflection of what happened to Atlas. As said above, Weiss was able to quickly learn from them and accept that nothing is lost forever and that she & her people can rebuild their kingdom. [ I mean come on the dang crystal looks like ice ] . Flipping that instance , she was able to give Jaune something he hadn't have for decades. Clarity, comfort, and acceptance. Because that's what she does - that's why the cat dislikes her [ besides sassing the hell out of em ] Her - Her-ness? Is a threat to the cat leaving. She did it for Yang, She did it for Blake she did it for Jaune . . And if you count the coffee scene I guess Ruby too? though that really still needs a revisit [ god they need to talk wtf it's been years ] . At the tree, she gives JBY words of wisdom - again harking back to how she talked to Yang about being there for someone when they return - when they are [ ready ] to return. Anywozen - Between the laundry list of extra animations for her this season ( lots of hand gestures , facial changes, constantly checking on Ruby after chapter 2 ) , the best fights in the volume being Weiss support or Weiss heavy [ The woman literally did a large scale version of her attack she did on the Chainsaw Guy which means she 'might' have actually used Time Dilation - that was insane ] I think the girl did what she needed to do and was honestly a joy. While everyone is entitled to their own thoughts and opinions, I've shared these notes before with some on reddit and discord and it really made a lot of Weiss fans happy upon further review of her 'part' in the season. Her problems may not been given the spotlight they should have been - but she was there for an even more important role. A protector, a friend and a voice of reason.
I gotta agree. Seeing it this way. A lot of what Weiss did was important but very very subtle in that sense. I think when I do the complete rewatch of V9 ill see a lot more of Weiss actions in the volume. They were small but clearly impactful. I just wish we got more focus on Weiss. My main problem with best girl this volume is that she was never really put in the spotlight. She serves as the support character for the cast which isnt a bad thing at all. I just wish we got like two more Weiss centered scenes where we could get more of her feeling on the Fall of Atlas afterall she watched her home literally fall out of the Sky. And as shown its had a toll on her. I just wish it got more focus in the screentime. I will come back to this comment tho you did a damn good job of breaking Weiss down this volume I really appreciate it!
I don’t know about Weiss being the only one to check in on Ruby and help her In episode 2 when Weiss talks to Ruby she actively upsets her and only tries to comfort Ruby after justifying Ruby’s thoughts that they were the problem which only further suffocates Ruby because she knows it was her plan even if it wasn’t Ruby’s words that made it fail In the market she also upsets Ruby, making her close in on herself by telling her to take the job seriously, undermining Ruby’s feelings and effort In the end Ruby has to comfort Weiss when she’s going through her own mental hell I don’t know why Weiss didn’t talk to Yang or Blake because that could’ve been a good moment with someone who isn’t as stressed out and a way to build rapport with someone besides her sister and Jaune
@@pumpkinwarrior7138 Alright grab a snack & buckle up here we go - In chapter 2 Weiss attempts to have a conversation with Ruby in regards to the events in atlas and the void. Starting off with Rubys , well, unintentionally callous response of " Don't worry, we'll get through this and go back *Home*". Home. Like that thing Weiss had to just sacrifice for the 'greater good'. But, its just about that - it's about loss in general for *both* of them. Weiss' loss of home and Rubys loss of Penny. Its a little heavy, but it's necessary and in line with how Weiss would handle something while trying to be more open. Historically, Weiss is not one to open up to others and show vulnerability. The only other time she had done something to this degree was when speaking with Yang in Volume 5 about Blake and only after Yang had opened up to her. In this instance, Weiss was trying to give Ruby a level playing ground as Yang had given her. She, more than likely, expected a harsh or cold response to come from it - but it would have still been better then silence. Or so she thought. Ruby's response of "You did the best You could for Atlas, Weiss" is very - how to put it - incorrect way of stating that? " WE did what WE could " . . .In saying "You" she has flipped the point of what Weiss was saying and ( Unintentionally ) slipped a word of solo blame back onto Weiss herself. In that sentence Ruby had distanced herself from Weiss, a verbal shove if you will. Weiss then tries get hold of the conversation again & get Ruby to talk about Penny as it's clearly bothering her. She had just opened up about her vulnerability to Ruby but Ruby would not open up to her. Which as her 'best friend' is kinda damming. That's when the silence comes and the storm starts to roll in. Sometimes when you're dealing with someone after loss or a person in depression, you have to walk on eggshells around them. Sometimes you have to be more direct. But you always need to talk. Regardless of how, or why, its very important to keep contact with other people. Even if you don't want to. Weiss had attempted to get Ruby to talk and externalize her emotions. Weiss sees Ruby as her best friend and a person who should be more open with her and vise versa. But - she wasn't. And the topic was left on dead air. With Weiss not knowing what to do and only feeling like she had done something [ wrong ] - we'll get to that later. The marketplace comment, I will admit, was a bit off handed. But given the over all dialogue of the chapter, I feel like this was meant to come out BEFORE chapter 2. Or that the dialogue had been written at an early point of development. ( the "What's a Jabberwalker" line being a big indicator of that ) The only thing I can think of as an 'in universe' reason would be just frustration. Even the kindest soul can have moments of stress or internal collapse. Read "The Metamorphosis" it's literally all about the extent of human kindness and the extent of mental anguish one can handle as depicted in a physical transformation. I'd say this rings true for her trying to hurry Ruby up at the Paper town too because they literally just got done with Jaune and were rushed into some other bs instantly. [[ They are both very stressed ]] To be fair with Ruby comforting Weiss, Weiss had JUST un shook Ruby who was crouched down by a table having a war flash back while the cat just hung out kinda waiting for her to break from it. Most likely hoping everyone would just move on without her. Like, in hindsight - Weiss saves Rubys life from the cat [ in that moment ] . How do you think Ruby would have felt if all of her friends followed Jaune when he told them to run? Left there, all alone. No one cared to think or even wonder where she was. But - Weiss did. the one the Cat called "the worst of the bunch" because at that moment the cat was dangerously close to taking her . But then here comes the semi-albino short stack collecting her traumatized friend. That's just - kinda their relationship at this point. Naturally speaking, Weiss would not go to someone else after the Chapter 2 talk. Or , well, especially after that Chapter 2 talk. As I stated previously, she had left herself to be emotionally vulnerable which is NOT something Weiss does freely around people. She is someone who tried to internalize things in a very harsh way and try to figure it out herself. Its a very unhealthy way of handling problems, but it's how shes learned to cope over the years. She came from an abusive life, she learned to be quite and to deal with things herself. . . in silence. Even though her main concern is Ruby, she may feel that ruby is upset [ because of her ].( see I told you I'd come back to that ) Because she had to be the one to tell her about Penny, about her dying [ again ] ( which , side note, if you've EVER had to tell a loved one about another loved ones death it messes you up on the inside. It is something you dont forget. It's something that lives with you forever. Their face. The crying. The feeling that you just destroyed this persons reality. That loved one was ALIVE until YOU told them they were not. And that's crippling. And you blame yourself, it's not your fault . . but you feel responsible and I'm dam sure Weiss is on that same level right now ) Because shes the one that brought up Atlas. Because shes the one who's sad and shes not sure who to talk to and chose Ruby which backfired. That small conversation in chapter 2 was damaging. And I'd argue it was more damaging to *her* then it was to Ruby. This actually all comes back in Ruby's break down when she snaps at Weiss with "Gotta get home, right!?" after knowing well that comment really hurt her last time. . but Hurt people . . Hurt people. so - Circling back, Weiss would not talk to others because at this point she'd feel it's a problem of her own machinations. It's only after the Snappaning Weiss sees it's an overarching problem. She *knew* something was wrong with Ruby but not *exactly* what it was. She could guess the aforementioned things above - But the girl is not a mind reader , but she is very smart. After the Snap she's able to piece everything together and respond to JBY with " Maybe she didn't think she could talk to us. " Which she can relate to - and goes on to explain the pressures . . . because they are pressures she has lived through herself. The /expectations/ The way it can be crippling and how they [ JWBY ] really needed to own up to putting that pressure on her even if they wanted to be supportive. In fact doing this comment, and watching a few episodes over, I've come to realize that every major breakthrough with Weiss comes as a reflection. Her reflecting on things in her life and aligning that to the events in the Ever After [ also The Ever After abbreviated is TEA and that's KINDA NOT OKAY ] Which is kinda cool theming. Ya know, snow white mirrors and all that jazz. Anywhozen . . . - Weiss was pretty cool this Volume. Shes flawed, but owns up to it - and thats kinda neato.
@@AkumuOukoku I was coming back to your OG comment to read it again and then I see you dropped this. Well damn you broke Weiss down better than anyone I've seen. It shows that she had a major impact on our characters it was just subtle and 99.9% of people wont even catch what she did on their first watch (Me included). I think it's because all of her comedic moments stood out more to the audience than anything else. I still think Weiss was pushed to the bg as Jaune took most of the focus along with Ruby for the remainder 4 episodes. She had her good moments in Chapter 1,2, and her speech in 4. With her response to Ruby in 5 being really good as well. But by the time we got to episode 8 it felt as if her arc had concluded. It's definitely something that if you pay attention on rewatches you'll definitely see but upon first watch o boy. Not so much. I do appreciate this and it really helps breakdown Weiss character!

For one, she had a very strong, very commanding presence with her comedic side ( which she has always had this was nothing new - dunno why people were bugging over this. Girl been EXTRA & A MOOD throughout the series and we love her for it ) She 100% owned chapter 4. Pretty much took over Chapter 9 too. If not for Summer I'm kinda sure Weiss would'a ran away with that. But, over all, I'm okay since this Voume was meant to be a "Jaune & Ruby" focused one. But hey, we got some great setup for volume 10! Winter reuniting with Weiss, the status of the SDC, Whatever the hecc Whitley is doing . . .finding out her dad is dead. Finding out Ironwood is dead. The flow and production of dust after Atlas falling ( there are still oodles of mines & ports owned by SDC - Arrowfell was actually really important for this context ) The rebuilding of Atlas . . . [[ realizing Cordovin is the highest ranking military officer next to Winter now ]] Still need to find out more context on Glyphs / hereditary semblances ( or if it's the only one & why ) . . . . WILLOW THINGS. Gotta see how Vacuo feeling bout housing the Schnees after . . . well [[ literally taking all of their stuff and leaving them to die ]] . The possibility of Winter teaching Jaune better sword skills & aura control. . . there is a lot to doooooo Plus - someone needs to go vibe check Raven.
I don't think their setting up white knight lol I think they're giving them more of an established friendship to show their individual growth also Miles said they're never doing wk so I hope that hasn't changed lol, I loved this volume a lot though, cried several times with this finale. still crying honestly lol

The episode was weird but some parts just felt a little weird. Ruby choosing herself just feels like the ascension was unneeded. WBY also responded to the cat about how Ruby isn't weak simply because she chose herself. On top of that, they didn't even do anything to help Ruby. Not one meaningful conversation. Imo the lore about the gods could easily be scratched and use that time for a meaningful talk that can make these other scenes seem like they actually belong. Rn it just feels like a bad written fanfiction
idc if this gets deleted but this was the worst volume to date the story went nowhere ruby learned nothing neo is getting the tortwick treatment getting brushed to the side this whole volume is so much filler and on top of that they get sent straight to vacuo while when we last left off everyone else had to fight the weather and grimm and deal with the mess they made this one is a hard L its not even funny its just sad at this point
I wouldn't consider this the worst volume. Although since its announcement a lot of people have disregarded it. It had no intention of ever pushing the story it was mainly about Ruby learning to accept being Ruby Rose is just fine. This volume wasnt for everyone but I say its still overall a pretty good volume minus the complete fumble of episode 9. And episode 1 and 2 were on the weak side. Yes, their in Vacuo but in a different time so who knows where that will take us.
Of course they’re not going to have to fight the Grimm and the storm, it’s been a few days in the ever after If time didn’t even move forward then there’s no need for a reunion Also filler doesn’t mean the “media I’m watching didn’t have enough changes” it’s about manga adaptations
