RWBY Volume 9 Episode 1 Reaction and Discussion! 

Weiss deflects the "what happened?" question until she can talk to ALL of them....she doesn't want to have to relive that trauma more than once in her head.

Watching RWBY reactions again makes me feel like such an old man. This show came out the same year that I graduated college.

I was very surprised and happy to hear Luci Christian was the voice of Little. My first experience with her voice acting was from an anime called DanMachi which was my #1 before RWBY Vol. 9. 😂

Luci Christian is one of my favorite Voice Actresses, I'm always excited to discover her voice in something. 😊 She was the VA for Touko Nanami in "Bloom into You" which was another top tier anime for me in which it had a similar premise to my & Ruby's journey in Vol. 9 before it's release. It's one of the major reasons why I found and accepted that I was just Non-Binary. I didn't have to perform for anyone else or emulate anyone. I could just be nothing, or neutral. So that's what I decided upon but that path did get lonely. Up until Vol. 9 that's all I was, just someone who someone else's perception of me didn't define anything. To the point where I didn't even define me. I got lost in stories where I could be other people and it was a fun distraction, but at the end of the day I was still empty. That was until Vol. 9. Back in December the previous year, I discovered a small caterpillar in my front garden. I took some nice pictures, but there was talk about a big storm coming that would be pretty intense so I made the decision to take it in and take care of it. I had it for about two weeks until it became a Chrysalis. I witnessed it in real time, filmed it even, and it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. The indescribable feeling I could compare it to is a parents feeling to seeing their child for the first time. That's how much it impacted me, and it was like an instinct kicked it i never knew I had. Oh, I grew so so worried about it's health all the time, everyday. Am I doing this right? Is it supposed to look like that? Omg I found a small green maggot thing nearby wth? But then it hatched? Out of it's Chrysalis and became Vivi the Monarch Butterfly. He was so precious, and we had a few flight tests.. they didn't go too fell at first and he tumbled quite a few time and, the tip of his wing had a small fold and I thought maybe he can't fly. I got so sad and upset that I failed, that I was so sorry I wasn't good enough.. but then! Then next day Vivi flew, only for a little bit before landing but it was enough to fill me with so much hope. I fed Vivi some watermelon juice on a Q-tip and I tried that day to release him but the weather wasn't really that great, and it did rain later. I let him out on a flower at the nearby park and took some nice photos/video but he just stayed on the flower for a while, so I debated with myself and decided to take him back home until the sun came out. That night after buying an entire small watermelon and slicing it up for the juice to give Vivi in the morning, that night in bed I bawled my eyes out because I realized that it was my last day with him and I couldn't think about anything else. When the morning came, I fed Vivi watermelon juice, put him in the mesh habitat cage I ordered and took him to the park again. This time the sun was out and he was stretching out his wings, and doing his little head bobs, cleaning his antenne. I put him on the same flower the previous day and took some lovely, amazing pictures. Then he flew, but right into a packed car on the street, so I went to go make sure he was okay. And he was just a little stunned but fine. I picked him up again and held him, moved him to another flower and recorded a video of him this time until he took of, and disappeared in a tree across the street which I pass by everyday and have names it Vivi's tree. Now why is this important? It's because Vivi was my Little. Just one small act of kindness, led to a remarkable change. Vol. 9 is what made me think about myself for once. As a RWBY OC character. And I decided upon a Butterfly Faunus, with the Semblence "Twilight Chrysalis" where in the shade I have a green Chrysalis Shield, which hardens by aura into a shield by reducing aura regen. While in the Sunlight, (thanks Superman) aura regen is increased and instead of a shield I have orange Butterfly wings which allow me to float. You see I had a dream about a race people called the Chrystalis, who were a geode people that originates from the earth that could evolve and grow wings made of crystal. When light passes through their wings which gives them the ability to float and fly. I debated whether to have a Juniper or malachite green hair or blush peach colored hair, but I realized I could have it change color in both modes. Maybe a nice brown color, but while my Semblence is active it could change color to either "harden" my aura, or set it free. My Aura is also green so... Wait, I've just had the realization that the closest character that I relate to, isn't Weiss or Ruby. It's Penny? I'm currently trying to process this new information. I apologize for the vent/rant. 😅

I was about to ask if you've ever reacted to the previous volumes elsewhere, but then you said it got you through middle school 😅Love the discussion either way, and am glad to have another RWBY fan to watch along with!
