RWBY: Volume 9 - Official Teaser 

I'm seeing a lot of potential here since they are clearly going a mental journey route, with Ruby specifically, but all of them too. Even Neo's one shot in this is showing something as well. That anger that's still been there, her looking up at something. I REALLY hope they dont drop the ball with this, especially since theyve had a lot of time to polish it, because this is a great setup.

It's going to be chilling when Jaune tells them what happened to Penny, and right when he got over his Trauma

I am so excited to see how Jaune will try to process what happened with Penny and how he will defend himself w/out his sword

My take on the teaser: 1. I think the person talking (which many assume is Summer Rose) is telling the same story that Oscar was telling Ozpin when they were in the whale, The Girl Who Fell Through the World. 2. Given the scenes in the teaser, we can assume Ruby is the “girl who fell” so I’m guessing she won’t be the same when she returns back from this wonderland place? If so, then that would be really sad 😞 3. Weiss crying is probably her telling whoever she’s with about how Penny asked Jaune to end her life in order for Winter to receive the maiden powers (if it’s not Jaune that’s with her). 4. If this really is Summer that’s talking, maybe this is her in the past telling Ruby a story that she’s familiar with? She loves reading books and comics about fairytales so it would be no surprise if she’s familiar with a few stories. 5. I compared a photo of Jaune to the knight on fire and the armor matches so that’s totally Jaune wearing a knight helmet of some sort. Don’t know why he’s on fire though. (Also remembering how team rwby doesn’t know Jaune fell in as well) 6. Besides the weird animals and creatures, it looks like we’re going to see other new characters as well, and maybe more Summer Rose stuff. Also, I’m curious to who is that white knight looking character.

This is very Alice in Wonderland and I LOVE IT. There's clearly the Cheshire cat at one point, and a weird nonsensical world that might be made up of the scraps the gods never used, or created through an entirely different method. The departure from the usual story is jarring enough that it might be entirely different than we expect but I'm super curious what actually is happening. There's a shot of her falling in the void like we saw at the RTX teaser with Neo, but Ruby's hand is glowing somewhat similarly to a Maiden's power?

I had a feeling the volume would be a self discovery journey. It’s going to be an emotional rollercoaster! 👍

absolutely LOVE that they're shifting back the focus to the main cast. There's so much going on that often times, the main cast felt like side characters instead. After everything they've been through, a mental journey route is the best course of action. These characters need to be in tip-top shape if they actually want to stand a chance against Salem, or else she'll just manipulate them like little toys in her game of chess. Also hope they take this chance to upgrade or at least unlock another aspect of Ruby's silver eyes. We know from Ruby's mother that simple silver eyes wont work on Salem, so for Ruby to actually stand a chance, her silver eyes need to be special.

I miss the old banter and jokes that the first two seasons had. Bonding with trauma does weld character development together, but you can't ignore the downtime in between. Not every living second does a hero fight the villain. Would love to see more of the in between moments that aren't always focusing on character trauma or fighting.

This volume looks like an acid trip... and I'm all for it! It looks weird and unique and I think it has alot of potential. Also wanna point out that I didn't seem to find Jaune in this trailer so I wonder where he ended up in this crack dimension. All I can say is I'm stoked and I can't wait to see where they're going with this.

I think for Jaune, he'll find out the truth about his lineage. His forefathers would have been monsters, and Jaune will then realize he needs to stop idealizing them and start idealizing himself because he's already so much more than his family bloodline. That's why we got imagery of the armor set that seems to match his heirloom blade and shield surrounded by the fire.

Seeing Penny’s reflection here makes me cry…

"After all the lessons she had learned and the friends she'd made and lost, who had she become?"...maybe Ruby is not the 'simple soul' anymore after this trip to the Ever After.

0:36 Doubt, regret, wonder, contentment. This volume is going to be the emotional roller coaster ride of my time and I am SO HERE FOR IT!! BRING ON 2023!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I shouldn't joke about that, it's July already D:) The talking animal characters are definitely Wonderland (Cheshire cat, the Dormouse, White Queen [based on hair colour alone], thinking the pile of leaves may be the tweedles or the caterpillar which [would probably be behind the smoke abyss we see Ruby and Yang in a couple times], and the Queen of Hearts because menacingly) and team RWBY are definitely Dorothy, Tinman, Cowardly Lion and Scarecrow from Oz. This may be the most mind melting, heart wrenching, jaw dropping volume to date and I hope they live up to the hype this community makes for them. THIS IS GOING TO BE SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every season the visuals just become more and more pleasing love it

If the knight is really Jaune, then please don’t make him a villain. He has suffered enough. I want him to find his inner peace and his character development.

This is the story of a girl! Who cried a river and drowned the whole world! Though she looks so sad in photographs. I absolutely love her, when she smiles.

Stinks we have to wait longer than we thought. But I’m still excited for this, and nervous too. Given Ruby’s state of mind in Vol 8, particularly after Ironwood’s ultimatum and everything that happened afterward (especially Penny’s death), Ruby might just give up. That face she had as she closed the chest said that she was done. She’s going to blame herself for everything, Cinder’s words to her “you should never have been born” will echo in her mind to the point where she herself will believe it. She truly is no longer the same optimistic girl that enrolled in Beacon.

This has some Volume 4 vibes. By which I mean the team being split through most of this volume and having individual hurdles to overcome, culminating in the finale having them regroup and find a way out. I cant wait for Neo and Ruby to somehow reconcile.

While it will be interesting to see everyones adventure through Wonderland, I'm hoping we'll be checking in with Qrow and his group too. Not only should we see what's left of the Ace Ops coming to terms with what happened to Atlas, but we also kinda need to pick up Maria and Pietro.

I wonder how they’re gonna deal with Neo. This trailer looks great though but a bit irritated that we have to wait until 2023 even though we’re only halfway into 2022. But regardless I bet all that waiting will be worth it once Volume 9 is finally released.

Ahhhhhhh excited for this, I am loving the setting so far (I can tell it’s heavy wonderland inspired which I think is great-) surprised we didn’t see anything about Jaune, but I suppose they’re just making us wait to see him. Also as much as I’m excited to see team rwby again, I am really really excited to see what Ren, Nora, Oscar, and Emerald are doing (and winter and the happy huntresses-)

0:25- I wonder what's up with that knight. I think it may be Jaune, as what we can see of the knight's armor matches his, but with a bit more detailing and the helmet, of course. If so, I'm kind of concerned for him, as there's a lot of what would be rust or dried blood on his armor. One thing's for sure, this Volume is going to be trippy.

0:24 That knight we see for a brief moment, if you look at the armor, I think that's Jaune. Makes me think that he's having a very bad time but I'm also wondering how this is going to change him. Also, since Joan of Arc was *Burned at the Stake* and we're seeing this, this also makes me worried for him.

This will be worth the wait with all those details. I want to see how everyone handles this Wonderland area and learns more about themselves.

If the character at 0:26 is in fact Jaune, the fact he is surrounded by fire is not good considering who he is based on.

All I wish is the ending to not be rushed. I hope that the makers of Rwby put a lot of effort into making this volume of Rwby a great season to watch instead of me sleeping on a couch. i have been watching Rwby since 2013 and i have loved the twists, turns, and characters that have come to die and appear. Good luck Rooster teeth animations and no pressure.

This made me catch up. Wow Vol 8 was incredible. Absolutely blown away. They really stepped up their game.

The distinct lack of Jaune and a presence of a helmeted knight with similar colors is worrying.

Left hanging from that cliff for so long, I'd given up hope of seeing a continuation. This may not be an answer, per se, but it gives me what I sought. And opens the door, as well. Identity truly is one of the most important things to anyone. "Mirror, tell me something-tell me who that is I see in you?"

Jaune, looks epic. And all I can think about is him probably killing Cinder while she tries to burn him, but he just keeps going. I can't wait to see how Jaune gets that helmet.

What if at 0:39, Weiss is crying because she’s telling ruby what happened to penny?! 😭

Definitely gonna have to hold out judgement on this - seems like the team just fell into Wonderland... not sure how I feel about it when the world is literally about to end. I don't think a mental / emotional journey is a bad thing, but to go from 'Salem's here and destroying everything' to take a break and go on personal discovery journeys? Just feels off to me, but we'll see how it goes I guess

Out of all of this, I still wonder what happen to Jaune…

The knight looked suspiciously like jaune, and it gave me Megatron vibes

when you realize the trailer is focused on Ruby but she and Weiss are the only ones from those who fell who doesn't have blood on their hands I want to see how Jaune is dealing with the shit he *just* had to do

this season is definitely going to have the characters and dialogue. absolutely animation, and a story with people in it!

This is certainly gonna be one of the seasons of RWBY ever made.

I'd like to point out to anyone wondering "Why 2023?" Aside from the setbacks they experienced from issues like the pandemic, there is also the fact that the world of Ever After and its inhabitants require the team to build a lot of new 3D assets and leaves little to no room for them to reuse old assets. Usually, CRWBY manages the workload of new 3D assets by restricting the scale of new areas, easing their way into places like Atlas, and falling back on 2D paintings for distance shots and areas the characters won't go to. It seems they cannot do that here. Ever After has so many unique models, and they can't even reuse Grimm because it looks like the Grimm don't exist here. Always remember, every single thing that we see in RWBY had to be built by someone before it could be used in the show, including the locations. 3D animation is a lot of work. And you can't just slap together a 3D model either. There's a whole pipeline to go through to bring something to life. Respect the concept artists, respect the modelers, respect the artists who make the textures that color the models, respect the riggers who make the models ready to animate, and respect the animators.

There were three main thoughts about what this island was after vol 8 that I saw. One was Afterlife, second was Yggdrasil, and third was Wonderland. Based on this teaser, I think our answer is officially Wonderland.

I JUST FINISHED ALL THE RWBY SEASONS 1-8, I started last moth, and it was and incredible journey, I AM SO HYPED FOR THE SEASON 9, this is gonna be LEGENDARY

I feel like they're going to give neo a redemption ark in this because she's going to find out Salem's the one who acted up killing torchwick and then she's going to get pissed

AHH Why does it have to be so far away? They must be putting 112% into this volume make it the best RWBY has ever been.

I really hope they don’t all find each other in the very first episode. Would be great to see them all exploring different parts of this world for a few episodes to really get a feel for this realm.

The anxiety meter is shooting along with this hype. I am thoroughly curious as well as freaking out on how this volume will turn out when it's aired.

I'm assuming the narrator is Summer Rose and that this season will likely show flashbacks to Yang and Ruby's childhood. It's entirely possible that Summer is reading Remnant's version of "Alice in Wonderland" to the younger Yang and Ruby. I don't believe Summer is alive anymore, and even if she was she would definitely not be in this world since it's heavily implied that Salem knows what happened to her and likely had a hand in her fate. I believe this season will focus on Summer and who she was as a person and a mother, but will also focus on Yang and Ruby properly "mourning" their mother after finding out what Salem has been doing with silver-eyed warriors. This season is going to be heartbreaking, I can feel it, and I can't wait.

Finally RWBY Volume 9 is Coming in Early 2023!!!! This is Awesome!!!!!!

I really hope that we see a teaser number 2 pretty soon, it would give the audience a better idea of the journey taken by each protagonist. it´s going to be interesting

Watching this after the volume 9 finale

I'm both excited and anxious about this next volume. Can't wait to see the work that had 3 years worth of effort put in it, but I'm also worried about Jaune. Both because of what happened last volume and what I assume as him in this teaser. All I ask is for a happy end for my boi after all that he's been through. Although if the armored knight in this teaser really is Jaune and he starts out as an antagonist in Volume 9, I hope he gets an awesome fight scene against Team RWBY. Or just an awesome fight scene in general. He does look like he could have a power up along with his armor. Like, maybe it belonged to a knight from long ago judging from what seems to be rust on the helmet. He does need a new sword since his old one got broken by Cinder. I've seen theories about Jaune also alluding to King Arthur and that he will find a sword in a stone in wonderland to replace his old one. And if he really does find something like Excalibur, I hope he gets to really use it. Another reason why I'm worried is that this Volume also does seem like a good place to further prove the JNPR death theory by having Jaune die there, possibly to save Team RWBY or to ensure they get back home. He does want to be a hero, and that would certainly make him one. There's no evidence of that happening so far tho, just a baseless worry of mine. Atleast, not to my knowledge--

So, over with the ice queen we have these characters potentially experiencing nightmares based on their insecurities. And in there far future, V9, seems like there is some self-discovery going on there. Really hoping that this pays off with the potential character development we could see. If Ruby is her team’s heart, then what happens if that heart breaks? We’ve been wanting to entertain this idea for years so really, really hoping it pays off.

There are so many fairy tale references. Omg finally Ruby(Dorothy), Weiss(Tinman), Blake(Lion) and Yang(Scarecrow) enter the realm of Oz. This is gonna be very interesting. This is what this show was always heading towards.

Bruh this looks pretty trippy also Jaune's new armor in 0:25 looks ominous as hell. Hopefully he'll get a power boost this volume. But overall this vol has some sick ass potential.

I know it's a stretch, but an immediate guess that came to my mind was if they find Pyrrah in this realm. Who knows what they'll find, but I like the thought.

So they're in Wonderland. Best part for me is that Jaune isn't with the girls, meaning he gets his own solo adventure and evolve without any to help him. Hopefully he gets the Sword of Destruction at the end of all this

Well as someone who’s actually rather enjoyed the series a lot for all 8 volumes, this looks very interesting. Curious if they’re going for an Alice in Wonderland reference this time.

Can’t wait I forgot about this after volume 3 but then watched the whole series in 2 days the whole 8 seasons 😂 And yeah action got a little nerfed but I’m excited for it And I can’t believe I started watching this when I was in elementary now I’m in college 😂 oh how the times fly I hope time flies until early 2023 too

Wow. They are really taking their time with this one. Even only having a minute of footage shows how hard they're going on the animation. Take all the time you need animation team!

I just finished watching volume 8 and started thinking if that was how RWBY will end, just to find out that there is coming next volume. :) So happy. Unfortunately we have to wait until next year. :(

This is gonna be good, really getting some Wonderland vibes from this place and that intrigues me. Wonder if this volume is going to be strictly this, or also time in Vacuo with the others? Also: Where's Jaune, did I miss him?

Wow amazing teaser, honestly to me this looks like a "finding yourself" type of season everyone is probably going to go through something mentally down there.

I love how this will be going. I'm even imagining a dark souls genre game within this volume to welcome Ruby as the main character and her friends to Dark Souls. Sorry about that, but I'm algo hyped that I too see potential here for more things

I’m kinda bummed we got to wait another year for this, but I’m looking forward to seeing it when it comes out. The wonderland vibe is kinda nice but gives me the chills, and also that the realization that Ruby truly is not the same girl that we saw at the beginning. And who is that at 0:30? That doesn’t look like an outfit of a character that I’m familiar with

Now I have two big things to look forward to next year. Thank you Monty Oum and Rooster Teeth, I can't express properly how much this series has meant to my brother and me.

About time I've been waiting for volume 9 in what feels like 2 yrs

It should release sometime late January early February since a game called smite is scheduled to release skins related to the show in its first patch of the year and they did a similar thing during the release of volume 7 so it’s likely it’s going to happen again

Volume 9 has to be crazy if we have to wait next year for it 😀
