A chaque fois que j'entends cette musique, que je vois cette équipe et ses supporters, je comprends pourquoi je suis un grand fan de ce beau pays, un fan français définitivement converti à la culture celte irlandaise ! Erin Go Bragh !
@@Iloverugby396well if you want to sing along the Irish tune La lalala la…. etc then fine. But the words are by the Salford born Ewan MacColl written about dirty old town Salford.
Erin Go Bragh from Texas!!!!! My great grandparents hailed from Munster and after 20 plus 20 years of marriage to my beautiful bride, we have 5 and plan to visit Ireland 🇮🇪🍀soon. When I first met my wife many years ago, she was an Irish step dancer. Then she met me and hence all the kiddos. God bless Ireland 🇮🇪
Tge French are amazing hosts. They have better music choices for the Irish team than I do as an Irish person. Also theyre in such a good location for the rise of the northern hemisphere teams. And their stadiums are top notch.
As a Frenchman born in Ireland, allow me to say proudly that France are doing a lot for rugby on and off the pitch. The French club scene has so many supporters, whole towns are catching the rugby bug. European rugby is in a great place, and it's only going to get bigger. A lot of this will be because of France leading the charge and putting serious money in.
The Irish fans and the songs are becoming one of the stories and themes of this World Cup. Credit to the French for fantastic use of music which is giving the atmosphere a huge added dimension.
@@Stephen-lx9nmDirty ole Town is a song written by an Irishman and Sung by an Irishman (the words are in Anglo- Irish if that is any help to your confusion)
Les Irelandais/aises sont déjà les champions du monde des supporters. Grace à eux, cette coupe du monde en à vraiment l’air. Bravo pour le jeu et pour l’ambiance.
@@yermanoffthetelly I couldn't imagine Wales winning though. Would be the greatest after party though 'cos we can celebrate just as well even when we lose.
A great song written by a 2nd generation Scot (Ewan MacColl) in 1949 about the town where he lived in England (Salford) and first released as a single in 1953.
I’m a 5 th generation kiwi with Irish heritage watching from NZ , puts chills up my spine listening to the Irish crowd sing , best vibe going around , all tge very best for the weekend ! Love the Irish spirit so much ❤
@@Paul-eb4jp He was Scottish despite being born and brought up in England .His mum and dad were Scottish and his birth name was James Miller but he changed it for a more Scottish sounding name i.e.Ewen MacColl
@@r.johnston919 Ewan was born in England and wrote this tune about his English home town. No mention of bagpipes, heroin or sectarianism. His family left Scotland behind for a reason. Just like my father did.
@@59jalex your nasty & clearly have a big problem with Scots for your information we are not all religious nut cases we don’t all play bagpipes or even talk about them much & we’re certainly not all junkies .
I'm so proud of the lads QF here we come we have no fear, what support, the fans are an example to the rest of the world how u celebrate COYGIG IRELAND, IRELAND, IRELAND
Sure, pedant. Written by a man born in Salford, both of whose parents were from Scotland. The Pogues, who recorded the version sung here, are regarded as an Irish/ English band, despite their various ethnicities. The writers daughter, Kirsty, was a member of the band.@@huytonbaddy
Little known fact, this is a folk song about Salford in Greater Manchester, England. Everyone more associates this song with Ireland, which is hilarious. Dirty Old Town, English or Irish? Who cares, great song and I love it! Ladies and gentlemen, keep singing!! ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️
We have thousands of songs. Being under British rule we couldn't write our own history so we put our history in songs. That said, this is an English folk song.😅
Im irish but this song was written by englishman Ewan MacColl about Salford an area just outside Manchester. Ok Luke Kelly and Dubliners sung it but its still about an Englush place. Just saying.😮😅😅
I was in the Irish bar in Key West a couple of months ago, i asked for this song. The singer hadn't heard it... ergo Irish Kevins is not an Irish Bar...
As a Scot, I’m so disappointed that we got stuffed, but I’m a realist!! So now that we’re out I’m cheering for Ireland 🇮🇪 It would be great to see them win the World Cup!
As I already said.. Thank God.. I actually thought the song was about Dublin.. Thanks for that info .. He was writing about some Kip in England .. Thanks again.
Yes and his lovely daughter Kristy ,spent years touring alongside The Pouges and sang with them many times as in fairytale of New York ..Themselves and the Dubliners made that song popular
@@Guyfaulkes1605born in England but Irish parents ,spent summers ,Christmas, Easter with Grannies back here so as Morrisy says English Heart Irish Blood !
Brilliant - Ireland is a nation of singers with hundreds of great songs like this yet the only song sang at every sport is the Athenry dirge. How great would it be to hear this during the next game...
No, Ewan MacColl was his stage name and he was born in Salford England, what the song is about, and died in London. English, not Scottish. Many people assume what you did.
