I have this card and it's crazy how power efficient this is. It consumes only 4 WATTS on idle and can go down to 2 WATTS. And it only consumes around 40 watts when gaming which is crazy considering you can play on high graphics at 60 fps on this thing.

@@rochester212if you can get your hands on a cheap optiplex with a 6th or 7th gen i5 or i7, you can stick a low profile PowerColor rx 6400 in it (even with the low wattage PSU) with no modifications whatsoever (other than needing to disable secure boot otherwise you’ll hang on the dell logo before installing the GPU, and switching the main GPU in bios before your first boot into windows with the new GPU) and you can get some incredible performance for really good price

AFAIK even the rtx 3080 fails to saturate a PCI3 x16 slot.. so this wouldn't make much of a difference.. correct me if I'm wrong though

@@JVenom007 Yes you are. The card itself is also limited to a x4 config. The card will run at PCIE 3.0x4 instead of x16.

For a single slot half-height card, XFX SWFT105 is great for a SSF e-sports PC. I upgraded from a RX 560-B card(single slot watered down RX 560) in my 3.8L mini-ITX PC. it's a very nice bump up in FPS and much quieter when playing games. The price was a bit high but it's way better than getting the GT 1030. I have it on PCIe 3.0 and it runs great, I know it could be better on PCIe 4.0.

If you don't exceed the VRAM, PCI-e 3.0 is actually fine. The problem begins once you go past the 4GB.

I have the gt 1030 and ordered the 6400 (which should arrive tomorrow FUCK YEA) and looking at comparisons I am gonna be playing shaders at smooth framerates. Plus it has 12 "ray accelerators" which is just rtx cores so, with fsr, you can play rtx games. (minecraft bedrock is finally gonna be opened after months of seeing only java being opened) The one issue that is going to pop up with the rt is well, 12 isn't a lot for ray tracing to run smooth, so I am only gonna get 30 fps with the fsr (or rsr can't remember). Now comparing to the 1030 i got 2 years before reading your advice not to buy one, 0 rt cores 30 fps on low shader settings no fsr or rsr and also the framerate just sucks

@@Fanatism worth it. 60 fps with lows at 50 and I put the card in a PCIe 2 system vs my 1030 stuttering frequently and never quite reaching 60 fps. And I use max graphics on recoil (visually good roblox game)

Deals are relative to what is actually on the market, if it's a superior deal to its direct competition past & present, then yes, it is a good deal by definition. It is not not a good deal only when pitted against your fantasy of what the market *should* look like, a fantasy that has no bearing on the current reality.

Considering a large portion of the population don't stream, and can be low profile and have a one slot form factor really is impressive. I just disapprove of the 4x pcie 4.0. AMD marketed the APUs as a stop gap measure until gpus were more available. Now, you can't get the full performance of this card because of the PCIe 3.0 capabilities of the AMD APUs. If it was 8x, this would be a great card for older optiplexes and apu build upgrades.

I remember the rx 570's being about £100 brand new in 2018 and it came with 2 free unreleased triple-A games. So this card at £150 in 2022 is absolutely trash and even if it was half the price it still wouldn't be a great deal.

Yeah, that was when the bitcoin mining crashed and AMD/nVidia were stuck holding tons of stock on hand. I expect a similar crash coming up except they're likely going to try and entice people to buy new cards with the performance doubling of the new cards.

The main point of pcie 3.0x4 vs 4.0x4 is that as long as the vram usage doesn't maxed out the diffirence should be minimal.

yeah, and with fsr / fsr 2.0 , you could upscale from 720p for better performance. Normally I wouldn't recommend it, but this is budget GPU territory.

Well in India it's launched at 180usd and the 1650 comes around 270-300usd so the 1650 being only 2℅ faster then the 6400 it makes a lot of sense to save 100usd in India* by choosing this

Thanks for the video it helped me pick up a Sapphire Pulse RX 6400 for 175$ CAD used which i am planning on buying an embedded motherboard called the "ERYING Gaming PC Motherboard" which is using an i5 11600H which also confirmed the board is using a PCIE 4.0 as well and mainly just building the system as one a back up system and two an esports machine for games like Valorant.

You can't stream or record with this card as it has no encoders.

I have an RX 480 8 GB and I saw that these new RX 6400 are practically the same in terms of performance and with several advantages....only 1 cooler easy to remove for maintenance, no extra power cable, good amount of memory, low consumption for almost the same if not better performance....I think the 6400 manages to have more added value and efficiency compared to the 6500XT.

I just bought one of these to replace my Gt 1030, as here in the UK lekky prices are still insane after over a year and they show no sign of dropping any time soon, so i thought the RX6400 would give me a nice boost over the GT 1030, and that 53 watts will still allow me to game as the 30 watt GT 1030 has done for the last year....plus i got a new one for £125 delivered......so this card will see me for what seems like the next for years of insane lekky prices here in the UK. :)

If the motherboard has a PCIe 4.0 interface, this video applies. *For example, I have a 2.0 adapter.* Under FC6, RX6400 would give one frame for about HUF 1450. And a GTX 1650 costs HUF 800 - This is only for some applications that do NOT pre-load the data into the discrete memory of the VGA. / PCIe 2.0 Games: Far Cry 6 , Doom Eternal ... we lose 40% of the frame for these games.

Works great for a secondary GPU for passthrough for development. I need Visual Studio sometimes for school but I daily drive Linux, the 6400 fit nicely into my power and financial budget so that my Windows VM has some OK 3D support. A low profile RTX would be ideal for my use case in performance and features, but those don't exist and would likely be a problem when it comes to power budget.

Am I looking at the wrong one? RX 6400 looks like it doesn't even compare to original Nvidia budget cards that you can still be using (and that I am using) like the 1060GTX 6gb, that runs everything but was only about 220$ at teh time; paired with selling that was ilke a 100$ upgrade at the time and I have not had trouble running anything on highest settings ever for years. Yet, this is even up to 50% worse according to some specs.

The RX 6400 is there for specific people on specific use cases like you have a bad power supply so PCIE power only is a must or low profile. If you find yourself needing the RX 6400 for those reasons I'd also suggest looking into the Intel ARC a380, it's cheaper and has 2 GB more of VRAM, if you're willing to spend 20 more dollars there's the 6 GB RTX 3050.

It depends, the 1650 has media encoders so if you care about recording or streaming, that's one thing. 1650 has DLSS but the 6400 has FSR 3, RSR, AFMF. It really depends

Its going to suffer in PCIE 3.0. Less than the 1650 according to Hardware Unboxed. Make sure it is a very recent Optiplex. Enjoyed the benchmark music.

you forget one thing. vega 8 and some others amd apu are as efficient as this card for twice cheaper the price. amd probably don't want you to know that. so i will go for a 15.6" laptop with a 5700u and it's pretty much the best quality for price i've found.

Depends on you. I would rather build because the parts are standardized, meaning easier repairs and upgrades done by myself. However building a pc yourself means you have warranties on parts but not a whole system. If you have bugs, it's up to you to figure ot out. A pre-built should come with a system warranty and customer service.

if you havent figured this out yet and you still have the graphics card and pc, check your bios and set your display to the graphics card, check if you plugged in your cable into the gpu and not the motherboard after you have set the display. maybe its a driver issue.

This would have a sweet market spot if it's power consumption was lower... I think Dell limits the pcie port power draw on the sff PCs to 30w or 35w, (at least the sandy bridge and ivy bridge ones I recall upgrading) if this card could fill that niche(and be low profile) it would be a good upgrade for a cheap PC.

In addition to being a smidge cheaper (current price in US market), RX 6400’s power draw is a bit lower and unlike the two cards you mentioned it’s a single-slot + low-profile card. Also as new RDNA2 release, will probably enjoy longer remaining driver support than these older cards.

From personal experience using the 6400 for the past 12months paired with 24gb and an old r5 1600 at 3.0 not 4.0 you end up with a rig that will gta5 at 75fps on medium high with lows/high of 1fps either side making it very smooth and 60fps with the same smoothness and med/high settings.

@@davidchillton1744I had an optiplex with a I5 2400,16gb DDR3 ram and a GTX950 Gigabyte Windforce II. I don't have to say,but that config was pretty good for me back in 2016 when i was a teen and couldn't work. I had that config for free except the 950 which were paid by my parents (130$) brand new. Okay i can afford new stuff by now however there are plenty of people out there who have to turn former office PC's to low-mid gaming configs if they want to play. Thats why the GT1030,RX3050 6GB were made.

Some games were 26.9 avg :( 1650 was able to keep above 30fps and no offense to AMD fans, I like the geforce exp so it picks the best settings for the game automatically, were I have had to do custom settings even with AMD's new interface.

I agree, the only other card I found was the Yeston 560-B LP card ($173) and I had to get from China for about the same price as XFX SWFT ($180) about a year ago. It was way better than a LP GT 1030 but not as good as the LP 1650 (dual slot). But I agree, I have a 300w PSU on a Mini-ITX PC and this thing ROCKS. I can play Fortnite with better graphic quality and at higher frame. Deep Rock Galactic and GTA5 are better!!!!!

Exactly why I bought this card, I want a upgrade from the 1030 without breaking the bank for a little more performance. AMD really was thinking of us GT1030/RX550 users 😭🙏🙏

Even if it cost 80$ I wouldn't want it... wouldn't mind it's level of performance is as a IGPU though I'd wish was to buy just a CPU that would cost much less and would perform much better without the IGPU and for a much better price instead but sadly everything is expensive nowadays ☹😵‍💫
