Could you please separate your videos into two sections: 1) Rasterized tests and 2) ray tracing tests? I've heard that the RX 7800 XT often has faster frame rates with ray tracing off, but half of these benchmarks were strictly ray tracing benchmarks. Some of us don't use ray tracing because of how much it brings the frame rate down, and we'd really like to see how well new GPUs run games with ray tracing disabled. I don't mind if there's a ray tracing test as long as there's a rasterization comparison before it.
@jennymelo2098 bruh try to put 2 and 2 together, most of players go for high/max settings instead of RT, bcuz if u enable both the fps drop is too much and makes the games unplayable.
@jennymelo2098 That's totally wrong. The PC ray tracing options in Ratchet and Clank go far beyond what the PS5 does, which is why I asked for a non-ray-traced test.
@jennymelo2098 Dude, the test isn't clear. Raster is raster, RT is RT, no need for this two faced lie with mixing them up. The entire internet knows that 7800 XT dominates in raster but is a bit behind in RT.
Most of us do not use or care about RT. thumbs down from me anytime benchmarks are done using it. It does not show true raw performance. It is not relevant. and neither card had playable frames anyway so both are not good enough to use it and a majority of games do not have it. Same with dlss/fsr never should be used for benchmarks, period.
I use ray tracing and use a midrange AMD GPU (rx7800xt) and for example, on Cyberpunk all max graphic settings with MEDIUM ray tracing option I average 62 fps and that is with using the cheapest CPU that I could buy new the Ryzen 5 5600x. At this point it's almost a crime to not use ray tracing it just look damn so good!
i think ray tracing is shit... the bad performance , typical for nvidia to release something new that the current generation can't manage and is totally poorly optimized. like hairworks back then
Ray tracing benefitted professional creators doing path traced rendering for marketing. It developed Nvidia's AI ecosystem too. Selling it to gamers, despite it being useless in gaming was about building a moat increasing the barriers of entry and maintaining an effective monopoly in the GPU market . In the games I looked, you can only tell RT is on because of tanked frame rate. Playing Cyberpunk in the RT Overdrive mode, must be in reach of a tiny proportion of gamers, a halo project.
@@RobBCactive I think its something devs wanna push too, because its easier to implement than what they had to work with before. Personally not a fan because they got really good at "faking" lightning and stuff and the performance for me does not worth it. But obviously its a personal opinion, nothing wrong with someone disagreeing.
my config on rx7800xt important!! hi, i have cpu amd 5 7600x and 2x16gb ddr5 and gpu sapphire nitro+ amd rx 7800 xt and my case (tempest umbra rgb atx) is small and also has poor ventilation since I cannot increase the speed of the 4 x 120mm fans it has, I had high temperatures in several games with the gpu (85 degrees +-) playing in 2k with hdr 600 screen with freesync premium pro. I configured the gpu from the msi afterburner program, and only configured the core clock by setting it from 2400mhz +- which came from the factory to: 1863mhz, now playing with exactly the same configuration that you show in the video in the starfield game I get a maximum consumption of 180w with maximum temperature 55 degrees+- and a very stable +-70fps, in case it helps anyone, let me know if it helped you too.
and starfield whit 2k monitor hdr600 freesync premium pro and all ultra settings fsr2 and vertycal sync on (puting 60fps on config of the monitor screen) i have 60 fps 100% stable, gpu temp max: 56 degrees and gpu consumption max: 194w
@saggygaming2460 it's still not that impressive I have a 7800xt in fps/rpgs that push graphics you're already hitting or going under 60 at 1440p. I wish I had just spent the extra money on a 7900xt.
@@Bintzak i'm an nvidia user, but not an nvidia lover, i hate the whole company... but for content creators, amd is not an option, what makes me really sad, because they're much more sympathetic.
@@lowfastracing It was a joke. I also use a NVIDIA card because i got one for 300 euro(4070) thanks to work. So it was a no brainer. But if they gave me the option for a 7800/7900 I would choose the AMD card.
I purchased Rtx 4070 a month ago. I’m satisfied with my purchase, even though rx 7800xt has good performance and a better price, gpu power draw is better in 4070 in my opinion which makes reasonable. But ya, both cards are good in their own ways. Only problem is the fanboys who tell that their cards r better😂. 2:06
Im still on 1080p but my 2060 isn't holding up anymore so im thinking about upgrading to a 4070 or 7800xt. The main game I'll be playing is Ark Survival Ascended both cards struggle to run it at 1080 max. It doesn't include FSR for some reason. 7800XT gets around 40-55 and 4070 gets 30-45 but 70 with dlss and frame gen so idk. 4070 prices also went up for some reason cheapest one it $580 while 7800XT is $530 rn. Im still struggling to choose both cards have ups and downs.
As much as I love the 4070.... you should wait for the 4070 ti Super. As it will have 16 GB VRAM which will actually make it futureproof.... unlike the current 4070 or 4070 ti. For 1080p though? 4070/7800 is kinda overkill for now lol but given how quickly the 3060 or below became obsolete for anything above 1080p.... its just sad.
you know you can use FSR in basically anything on a radeon card, right :) ? I'm really impressed by the 7800xt, just got one about a month ago. I'm playing Alan wake 2 at 200 fps on FSR and frame generation, on 2k monitor, while keeping a max 55C temp..
I’m completely lost now… hearing everything and its opposite about those two cards. Not a fan boy of any company as I’m coming from consoles’ world and planning to build my first PC for christmas. I dont know which one to pick… Here VRAM, there wattage, there again DLSS Vs FSR… Honest advices needed folks !
@@bunyamincorul ify To be honest I checked a lot of videos since last time and my conclusion is that if you’re really into RT go for 4070 as 7800xt seems to offer 4060ti RT performances (which are more than bankable) But if you’re not looking for cutting edge performances on RT but looking for excellent rasterization and overall performance + decent amount of VRAM go for the 7800XT Personally, I think I will go for 7800XT AsRock phantom or Sapphire Nitro + to minimize GPU high temp
I try to help, what is the point to buy a RX card? Only 16GB Vram. And this Vram got only the slow Gddr6. So Team green, better drivers, better upscaling dlss3.5, framegeneration, much lower power consumption and better worth/Value if you sell this card in some years again. Because of better ray traycing/Path traycing. This will be the future of New games.
amd really pulled their weight with this one, way better rasterized performance and not bad ray tracing performance in all except some games, even though Im a nvidia fanboy, gotta say the 7800 xt is way more value for money
Lol no. 7800xt has the same performance as 6800xt some benchmark even shows that 6800xt is faster. Get 6950xt for the same price and more performance. Although if i have the money i still would buy rtx 4070 since i loved old games and nvidia is realising remastered RTX remix games
@@ForceInEvHorizonI mean the 7800xt is slightly faster than the 6800xt on average. It also pulls less watts and is muuuch cheaper than the 6800xt It's a bad generational leap but standalone it's quite good
@@knowingbadger faster you mean 1-2% faster? In my country the 7800xt is like 20-30 more expensive than brand new 6800xt hence i said its better if u buy 6950xt
I love a good fps rate but the difference in power usage is what took the most of my attention. Where I live that's a serious difference in my electrical bill :p.
I have a question. When playing Fortnite at 1080p with 7800xt 7800x3d and 4070ti 13700k with ``3D resolution'' and ``draw distance'' set to the highest, and other settings set to the lowest or off, which configuration will yield more fps?
This video is comparing a 4070 not a 4070ti which is a slight step up. The 7800x3D + 4070ti is the best gaming combo out of those four options. Ditch the Intel CPU.
@@empresariogatin8215competitive gamers degrade visuals and may use custom resolutions on a 2nd display to max frame rate. Playing 1080p is a concession
even if almost every game rx 7800 xt has better performance than 4070, i think that this rxt is still good choice. You can get smoothly fps with both cards, but for people that are focused on ray tracing and upscaling, 4070 is a little better. Also, 4070 have better FPS/watt. So, if you like RT and for you power consuption is inportant, the rtx 4070 is still good choice. I have TUF rtx 4070, and after undervolting the temperature barely reach 60 degrees with CP2077 with PT and DLSS3 witch smooth FPS (60-100fps, depends from location in 1440p)
You're right, the 4070 is significantly better at ray tracing. It even beats the rx 7900xt in ray tracing. The 7800xt looses to the 4060ti when ray tracing is on. AMD wins in rasta but dlss and FG are conversations that need to be had more often
@@mohyari3075 Completely not true. 4070 isn't even faster in raytracing against 7800 XT, 7900 XT simply beats it left and right. The guy here simply chose games where 4070 is faster. It's a simple manipulation (it's especially clear because he didn't show raster benchamrks where 4070 doesn't look even remotely good). 4070 in RT in 2k is only 2% faster than 7800 XT. There are many games where 7800 XT just wins by big margin ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-J0jVvS6DtLE.html. Hardware Unbox already did comparison and even RT is not on 4070 side. And no of these game is in this 'benchmarks' except Callisto Protocol. And even for this game this 'benchamrk' is suspisious as hell.
@@yosar6107 I would certainly say look for reviews that have a larger sample rate though 15 games isn't bad sample size it is possible to pick 100% the games that works well with one architecture over the other. Though looking at different reviews the RTX 4070 tends to be around 8-10% slower when it comes to rasterization performance, though the 4070 recently got a price cut which is not a common thing for Nvidia to do. Still getting beat by 10% from a card that cost $100 less in this price range is not a good look for Nvidia.
I guess my i7 9700k is now the bottleneck with my 7800xt, frame times are garbage and I get regular fps drops to mid 40s with the same settings as you.
7800: Better rasterized performance, more VRAM, $20 cheaper (at least where I live) 4070: More power efficient, better RT performance, better RT quality, better lighting quality and functionality in 3D modeling, DLSS3 > FSR
Not sure about the "need" for upscaling on this "tier" of GPU, but I went "up one" to an XFX 7900 XTX and it crushes everything maxed out (RT too) at native 4k. Personally, I'm better than fine with native 4k 60fps+ maxed out and don't care for any upscaling if I can avoid it. I'll run 1800p if any game comes that will actually need a res drop to hit 60fps+, but I have an RTX 3060 too and no matter how you cut it, upscaling is a concession just like all the other graphical options. That said, I do like BOTH TAA and native res like DLAA and am looking forward to FSR 3's ver of this and FG (mostly for my RTX 3060 ironically). Still, these are two great GPUs and I don't think you can go wrong with either today. If you plan on keeping it for a while you're probably not the kind of person who is going to drop this kind of money, but if you know you are, I'd personally consider the VRAM. Even at 1440p it's pretty easy to go over 12Gb these days. In the future, I doubt games will use less.
@@Stuntmandouble08 Yes, the prices they charge suck as well, but what I mean is that they don't provide enough performance to really be valid for the future, and especially on Nvidia's side it's the Vram limitations. It's not only "Fuck, they're too expensive", but also: "Wow, look at those graphs in those games". Granted, I am now talking mostly about the mid-range.
nice video. maybe you can make a full video of warzone 2.0 in ashika or vindol map. with different graphics settings and resolution like 1440p and 1080p.
It is a case of the rx beats the 4070 in many cases untill you turn on ray tracing i was a bit hit and miss as for the lsast few days did not know with to buy the rtx 4070 is overpriced but i love ray tracing so im buying one tomorrow amd was very close though.
Different architecture. There is no way to compare clocks directly, there are different amount of calculating units and so on. The only thing you can compare is clocks between the same vendors. So 4070 vs 4070, 7700 vs 7700 and so on.
Ray Tracing Nvidia's poorly optimized feature that you have to look for with a magnifying glass! Like Hairworks back then, there was far too much loss of performance for slightly nicer hair, but the rtx 4070 is more efficient.
AMD and NVIDIA drivers allocate memory differently. NVIDIA uses compression to use less VRAM, but that causes some more CPU overhead compared to AMD drivers.
In india, the price difference between 7800 xt and 4070 is just 37 dollars (currency converted). AMD cards usually come down a while later but as of now there's no price perk in India. Just that 12 gb vs 16 gb and more rasterised frames going in favour of AMD against dlss, cuda, ray tracing of nvidia. which one to go for, any advice?
c'est quand meme incr de se dire , qu avant tu avais un pc complet pour 800e aujourd'hui c'est le prix d'un composant , tu paie un pc 3000e pour tourner a 50 fps c'est abérant !
I'm a rx 6600xt owner and 1440p gamer. To be honest both of that cards sucks, 2023 and still not enough for 1440p next gen gaming. But amd Fsr is bad and the consumption pf rx 7800xt is too much. I don't believe that amd 7000 series is good enough for a update on my case... Still waiting for a miracle for the next gen GPUs
Raytracing is a waste of performance in most cases. Can barely see the difference. I'd turn it off even with nVidia for more performance. Seems kind of a biased review to only show with RT on for most games.
In summary: rasterized performance is around 20% better on the 7800xt in heavily GPU intensive games, but pretty much the same in most games en masse. The 4070 performs around 20-30% better in all titles using ray tracing (other than Jedi Survivor and Dead Space which just have a ray tracing on/off button lol), while also being more power efficient. The 4070 overall is a better graphics card, but for $100 less, you're definitely getting a good value with the 7800xt. It all depends on your budget and preference. If you don't use ray tracing or have a lower budget, get the 7800xt. If you do enjoy ray tracing or have a slightly higher budget, get the 4070 since there are simply more features you will be able to utilize if you do.
Why do you think the 4070 is a better GPU? The 7800XT is literally faster in most cases except for RayTracing, which tbh doesnt make all that much of a difference visually in most games. AND it's a lot cheaper.
@otisjordan5613 I'm not arguing that the 4070 is a better value card than the 7800xt. I'm saying that, in general, it is a better graphics card. Only in heavily GPU intensive games such as Red Dead Redemption 2 or Crysis will you see a noticeably different framerate, usually around 15-20 frames higher on the 7800xt. In almost all other games, however, it performs identically to the 4070. The 4070 also has access to DLSS 3 at the moment, which is a better upscaler than FSR 2 in every way. It is also more power efficient and has a smaller form factor. As for price, the cheapest 7800xt on Amazon is $560 rn, and the cheapest 4070 on Amazon is $550.
@IsraelSocial It's cheaper on Amazon rn, but yeah, in general, $100 for 20-30% better ray tracing performance, power efficiency, smaller form factor, and DLSS 3.5 is feasible.
@@laughup7055 It will be fine for quite some while. I am still at 8GB VRAM and it's okay. But I ran into issues (The Last of Us especially) - but I think you made the right choice between the two for sure.

I had the same problem, it’s not necessary to take the card from myself, I saved a lot of money considering that I took a good quality card, it doesn’t matter which card you choose, the main thing is not to take the cheapest version, the main thing is to take into account the tax duties of your country
any card is the same tbh but if you really care about ray tracing 4070 is a clear choice but you have to be prepared for playing at 30 fps with highest level of rt effects
Man, where I live, the cheapest 4070 I found was $840 (Gigabyte Eagle) The cheapest 7800 XT is about $817. I think there's a Cartel of the retails on my country. I had to buy the 4070 because DLSS and FG. FSR is nice, but still looks like shit on 1080p monitor when needed.
Who use fg? Maybe dlss is a reason but apart from that i will go to amd, you will get 5% more fps for less money and fg gives you input lag, 4070 is the worst choise
Is Bethesda still using Creation Engine? That can't be real they can call it 2.0 or whatever that engine is from 2002 in tech world that was were dinosaurus was still roaming the Earth.Bethesda really never changes.
Does this RTX 4070 not have DLSS 3.5? because at no point did you activate it, if the card has this technology and you are comparing the two, why didn't you activate it and compare it? Isn't it unfair for a competitor to have a technology and be completely ignored in the comparison?
Dlss 3.5 is not implemented on any game just on cyberpunk 2077 and buy a card because upscaling dont makes sense at all, peak one card because price performance not for the upscaling feature
The issue is DLSS and FSR. So if you buy nvidia and FSR kicks ass, you regret buying nvidia as the main advantage offered by DLSS goes away. If you buy AMD and FSR sucks, then you're going to watch low VRAM cards rip your card a new one with DLSS. It's not a good time to choose a card now. People should wait for FSR and then decide. If FSR sucks, go nvidia. If FSR matches DLSS, AMD is an easy choice.
I miss the days when it was all about raw performance and not feature limitations. What did nvidia have back then? Hairworks? Physx? No one cared about those things lol
@@watchdoge6464They're important though. Today I bought the 4070 instead of the 7800xt, 5% across the board and VRAM doesn't feel right. Now I am looking forward to DLSS, RT, have options. 4070 runs 50-90W lower and 5-10C cooler, not sure if that's worth the $100 to get 7800XT, since FSR2 is worse quality, and AMD cards don't do well with AI productivity depends on where you live, 100W for 3 hours/day can amount to about $30-$40 per year
My 5800X is matching that 13900K and slightly beating it everywhere. That's really surprising. The power draw on my 7800XT is also way higher. I'm in the 350w range in most games and even hit 426w with CP2077...LOL! That's crazy!
