Nice driving Ray!! All of a sudden the Subaru didn't seem so fast (Y)

Thanks mate it was great fun considering the engine is standard. The difference was corner entry speed, which the RX8 is quite good at!

Some of the best track driving I've seen with an RX8.... superb balance.any suspension mods? I drive a tuned 55 model series one....the chassis yet is untouched....but it wouldn't handle like this,its rather soft in the dampers area with what seems alot of roll....but plans are ahead. Any advice welcome,and again.... excellent drive👍🌈

Thanks. Standard suspension just with Racing Beat roll bars. Pads were DS2500. You really don’t need much for trackday as the chassis is the best in its class.

@@raywan3766 I drive a series one. Have to admit I find that the car rolls alot more than I expected....doesn't add alot of confidence even though it is agile. Did the stiffer bars make a big difference?

@Darren Lucas definitely get a set of Racing Beat ARB if nothing else, makes all the difference on track. I had standard Bilsteins on the R3, but a set of nice coilovers could be good for your series 1. Obviously the R3 has a slightly stiffer chassis also.

Beautiful sound. I noticed some corners you match reved and some you didn't. Was that on purpose 🤔 not nit picking, just curious

I heel toe rev match on most of my downshifts, but depends on what speed and Rev I’m doing at a given corner. Also if I’m experimenting taking corners with different gears or slightly different lines, I’ll make some slight adjustments

how reliabley can you drive them like this before they break ? i want one and am keen to learn

You’ll find like any other engine it depends how much attention you pay to looking after it, regular oil changes (3k miles) and check levels all of the time etc I’ve owned quite a few rotary engines never had a problem, but my maintenance routine is very strict and on time with no expenses spared.

@@raywan3766 thank you for the reply, i will be getting an R3 in white. i was always under the impression they were extremely delicate, but i keep seeing videos of people spanking them, so aslong as i keep ontop of maintenance and do preventative its all good?
@raywan3766
@raywan3766 Год назад
@@makina2022 what I did was oil and filter change every 3000 miles, spark plug change every 6k to 9k miles depending on how I used the car. Add Protek-R or similar with every petrol fill up, always use super unleaded fuel, always check oil and coolant levels before each journey, inspection of any leaks. Warm up before any redline & cool down religiously each journey. Some people skip these things and then find the engine is not happy. Small caveat, I have done this to all the rotary engines I have owned and not had any problems, but that’s not to say your one won’t by following this, just hopefully less likely. R3 is nice as it has additional oil injector to reduce rotor blade wear, recommend you get the upgraded ignition coils on the RX8. Get a compression test before buying, look for even’ish numbers across each chamber per rotor. Enjoy, they are awesome underrated cars with a super chassis.

@MAKINA GEORDIE these engines actually need high revvs often to keep carbon build up at bay. If you maintain it really well and track it often it's likely to last longer than one that's maintained well but driven slowly. Between an engine that wants to rev and a chassis that wants to take corners they're the perfect track day car.
