Props for Gosling for turning the interview around and turning into an interesting conversation. He did his job selling the movie, I'm gonna watch 2049 tomorrow.
i mean, i was always going to see it, but this interview was really touching, giving some perspective and some reflection on the situations going on right now
If it was Jimmy Fallon, he'd just mindlessly laugh at everything Ryan says: Ryan: So what was it like growing up in Vegas? Fallon: HAHAHAHAHA YEAH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA RIGHT ON
very smart move by Ryan, it is also a tactic you ploy when you want to avoid a subject too. So the best thing was to ask how Jimmy was doing and interview him. Looks like Jimmy picked up on it as well and just let it be.
All things considered, I appreciate that Ryan shifted the focus to Jimmy. It wound up being his interview a little bit, and I think people do need to realize that in spite of everything the rest of the country thinks of when they think of Las Vegas, it is still a community with real people living real lives. Nice to see what feels like a more natural conversation too.
Ryan is a gentleman and is very socially intelligent. Things are understandably on edge, and I'm sure Ryan didn't want to go on about himself when something so tragic is hanging in the air (not that he's one to go on about himself normally). So he passed things over to Jimmy and made things a bit more comfortable and human by leading the conversation to good memories about Vegas.
That's what I was going to point out. Ryan very deliberately let Jimmy have this moment to reminisce about happier times in Vegas, and it turned the somber tone into a joyous one. That's classy. Well done, Ryan. May you never get punched by Harrison Ford again.
I think it was nice of Ryan to ask Jimmy about his upbringing especially since Jimmy must still be upset. It’s great to see Jimmy smiling talking about his hometown and Don Rickles.
Jimmy's nothing more than an ideological opportunist strategically exploiting the deaths of the innocent in order to effectively promulgate his views on gun control/confiscation. Those crocodile tears were nothing more than a means to emotionally manipulate his gullible audiance.
Lovely to see how genuine Gosling is. not like other celebrities who instead of constantly talking about themselves, he genuinely seemed interested and kind to all of his interviewers and fans. Love Jimmy to pieces.
I won't forget how moving, caring, honest, accurate and articulate Jimmy is when discussing horrific events like this catastrophe. I also won't forget Ryan having this conversation with Jimmy and thinking "OMG. Wow. I'm watching an amazing beautiful moment unfold of Ryan helping Jimmy with the pain he still looks traumatized by. How freak'n wonderful!" One of the best interview conversations I've ever seen. After watching news about trump in Puerto Rico, I'm grateful for the uplift.
Ben M It was touching. It reminded me of being at a wake when someone starts to talk with you fondly about the deceased loved one. You feel grateful to be able to share memories.
+DJ F- As you wish me to complete my sentence, I shall. The nature of your comment reminded me strongly of a certain radio show host named Alex Jones, and I asked the question to make sure that you were not. Also, I strongly dislike Hillary Clinton. I cannot speak for Ben, as I do not know him personally.
Got it.. I get really PO'd because these DIMWIT TV hosts like Kimmel open their mouths on something they know NOTHING ABOUT! Idiots are still crying for "the poor little Victims of Sandy Hook.. There is NO Victims.. It WAS a Obama sponsored "Gun Grab Roadshow" performance.. ALL I DO IS RESEARCH! Obama is a liar and a traitor to true Americans.. Perpetuating a lie just to get support from the gullable Left wingnut to confiscate our guns.. The New World Order cannot succeed without all out gun confiscation.. but the idiot left Hillary supporters wouldn't know the truth if you proved it to them.. Time for American SHEEP to wake up.. peace.. btw, see Dr James Fetzer on the Sandy Hook Hoax, on RU-vid
They cover it because it is in the news. That they cover it in a fashion that you disagree with is because the majority of the news sources cover it that way. And how did Sandy Hook get involved here? The one I usually hear about is Columbine.
Ryan is just a stand up classy gentleman. What a class act how he handled that conversation in such a way to talk about happy memories of Vegas to take away from the hurt. Just love him.
He is genuinely concerned about the incidents and how Jimmy is holding up. You can see he truly cares. He even mentioned the earthquakes as well, nice of him to remember there is also life south of the border. Gosling is absolute class.
This is probably my favourite Jimmy Kimmel interview. Such a human moment for him. Mad respect to Ryan Gosling for realising there are things more important than promoting a movie. 👍🏽
Las Vegas aside, this is what late night tv should be. This was so real and unscripted I couldn't look away. Just a couple guys telling stories about their lives is so heartwarming. Ryan and Jimmy are pure class.
Thanks Joel G. some folks are trying to make Jimmy look bad but they can't because it's his show and he directed it how he wanted it to be. Jimmy is so nice he did not matter to him in another show that he can afford health care for his son but was sad for those who cannot afford it for their kids. I call Jimmy a nice guy. a compatriot. Jimmy is a compassionate human being.
this is probably the most natural and free flowing talk show interview i've seen in a awhile. amazing how a terrible tragedy can humanize us a bit and make us just talk to one another and see how we're doing. Wish we could get this vibe more often from talk shows
Let's talk about how kind it was for Ryan to turn the conversation. Jimmy's excited to talk about home, his friends, and family. It's a beautiful thing.
GamingWillis yeah well so is the fact he is a condescending prick I want to know who he poked fun at or terrorized in the percussion or string section in a society catering to the dopey iconoclast just look at the blonde sidekick from Wayne's world and what instrument did that jerk play?
Makaveli Soldier He's born in New York and perhaps cause he identifies so much with his Italian heritage? That's what I thought because I thought he's a New Yorker, too.
This is why Ryan is the best, firstly he has the ingenuity to know that his movie has sold itself like he stars in it w Harrison Ford and it's directed by Denis Villeneuve, it's gonna be a masterpiece obviously and so his job is done by simply attending, interviewing Jimmy shows how kindhearted and confident he is.
I did not want this interview to end. One of the most interesting and fun interviews I’ve seen in awhile. Best to Jimmy and all the victims and their families in Vegas 💕
I have a new respect for Jimmy Kimmel. I was never a big fan of his show. But, over the last few months, he has been surprisingly vocal about current event. He is speaking against the wrong that politicians have and are doing. He was great and serious, heart felt.. Glad to hear a t.v. entertainment comic speak seriously. Yeah for Mr. Kimmel. Keep going.
It feels like this is almost therapeutic for Kimmel. You can hear his voice cracking because this is all very emotional, but he's happy to share those stories expressing his love for Las Vegas ❤️
THAM, DO NOT BELIEVE THESE STUPID FALSE FLAG GOVERNMENT PLAYS. . CRISIS ACTORS WERE USED. . THE ONLY DEATHS ARE FROM DIFFERENT ACCIDENTS WHERE THEY "CHANGED CAUSE OF DEATHS" FROM AS FAR AWAY AS VERMONT, WHO DIED DAYS BEFORE L V. . . . NO HOSPITALS RECIEVED ANY VICTIMS AND THE CORONERS OFFICE WAS >>>CLOSED
I grew up and still currently live in Las Vegas to this day. It really is nice to hear this and get to know both of these men in a more personal level. It really brought back childhood memories of my own during the time I grew up here in Vegas. It really is true when you tell people you come from Vegas. I had one guy I was talking to when I was visiting Washington DC. He asked me where I was from and I told him Las Vegas and him and his group of friends were like, "Whoa! People live there!?" haha. I went to the same high school that Jimmy Kimmel attended as well. It's in a rough neighborhood but slowly improving.
Chadwick Cooley I know I visited Kansas one time and told some people I was from las Vegas they asked if we lived in casinos I said no we have communities houses we live normal just like everyone else
Seems like a really nice thing for Ryan to do, asking Jimmy about Las Vegas, like a really nice way for Jimmy to reminisce and think back on his hometown and all the good things he remembers, after such a horrible event. You could hear the emotion in his voice talking about everything.
I love this so much after watching Jimmy's opening about the tragedy in Vegas and how clearly distraught he was and Ryan got him laughing about his childhood now, the world needs laughter now, as well as change of course. But laughter and smiling is always a great bonus
Jimmy Vegas appreciates your words. We are all joining together & helping one another. I am a mental health therapist & have already heard horrible stories. My heart goes out to all.
Calm down people. This is beautiful, they are discussing the great community of Vegas and good memories of the place. I can't think of a better way to honor the city.
Being a Vegas native myself, it’s refreshing to hear him talk about how it’s a community also. Most natives I know avoid the strip and we are at casinos just for the movie theaters, bowling, and the restaurants. I’ve never been prouder of where I’m from after seeing how my community is coming together and doing so much for these victims. I hate that this tragedy happened and feel so violated to be in my city, my hometown. My heart is crushed for the victims and their family.
Krystal s yeah that one thing that pisses me off that people actually think that Vegas is just the strip we have communities and we live normal like every one else in the world
Las Vegas IS a big little town. I remember the celebrity softball games and watched the Happy Days cast play. I remember I saw Redd Foxx at the Vons, and I met Ben Vereen walking in front of Sunrise Hospital, and there's so many other memories. I left my heart in Las Vegas. Jimmy did and it is so sweet to hear him tell his memories. terrible sadness Sunday
What are genuine person Ryan Goslin is asking Jimmy Kimmel how’s he doing? Didn’t even care about the movie he just wanted to know about his life in Vegas and why it affects him so much this is very genuine
This is precious and lovely. This is my America: A Canadian boy wanting to learn about a boy from Las Vegas. It's good TV, good Internet, a good world.
Canadians, like Ryan Gosling, have much compassion for our American neighbour's. Matters will get worse before they improve but times shall get better. Hold on America, the good times are around the corner. Peace & Love
Ryan is a smart and genuine individual. He knew just what to say to make Kimmel get his mind off of everything and make him laugh and enjoy himself. Props, Ryan.
