The bar is too high? The bar could not be any lower. I live in Chicago. I'm a lifelong Bears fan (for some reason). We've never had a 4,000 yard passer or a QB who's thrown 30 TDs in a season. This is a team whose best QB -- not just in my lifetime, but all time -- is Jay Cutler. I'll defend Cutler from people say he was outright bad, but he's far from great. (He was a competent QB at best, prone to interceptions at worst, and whose career was probably significantly shortened by being protected by an O-line that habitually had more holes than a ship in Iraq's navy.) After Cutty it's Sid Luckman... Sid. Luckman. Then, there's a long list of "OK" QBs (Erik Kramer, Jim Harbaugh, Jim McMahon), then it's a patchwork of barely competent to incompetent QBs whose win-loss records can largely be attributed to the team's heritage in defensive football (Hello, NFC Champion Rex Grossman and NVP Mitchell Trubisky!). If CW does what other teams in the league consider the bare minimum, he'll be a hero to this team.

Tyson Bagent won two out of his 4 games he started with a worse Bears teams team last year. CW will be fine with a new O, new weapons, ect, CW is easily the best QB to come around sense Luck. Bears have a good O-line, great WR, great TE, great RB. and a great D.

So many people are ready to push Eberflus out the door. He's done nothing to deserve that yet. If The team is losing and looks bad doing it then yes, but that goes for every coach. This has been a complete tear down and rebuild from the start of his tenure. There's a chance he's a good coach.
@nickh2935

Yeah there we go. Perfect game plan for Chicago. Put Caleb right into the thick of it, watch him underperform and then fire the coach halfway through the year. great plan there, really setting up your rookie quarterback for success.

There are plenty of rookie QBs who started and didn’t have instant success and went on to be pro bowlers and hall of famers. Not everyone who sits at first will end up being great . Caleb has already been in the spotlight, and he’s already been making big money in college. The Bears have improved the team(not saying they’re elite, just improved) and I think the team is solid enough that Williams could settle in and play well within the first few weeks of the season. There will be mistakes, sure. But I still bet we see a faster and higher ascension than we did with Fields or Trubisky.

The Bears are dumb, if they were gonna bench Caleb year 1 they should have just kept fields. Spoken like an unbelievable bust. In an ideal world, sure, every QB prospect could sit a year (or more) to watch and learn. Most teams don't have that luxury, and the Bears have young talent all over the team who expect to start winning soon (i.e., next season). You try to explain to these guys entering their prime that the top-tier rookie manning the most important position is going to be sitting a year. And then watch how quickly Eberflus and Poles lose the locker room.

He is absolutely correct. Y’all don’t wanna hear it but don’t be surprised when the bears don’t make the playoffs next year. It blows my mind that teams arent following the chiefs playbook when it comes to drafting a young quarterback. Sit them behind an experienced pro and have them learn the playbook/system and learn as much as they can from the QB room and all other experienced guys on the field. That was Reid’s plan the entire time, and look how well it’s working out. Look at how well Jordan Love is doing after sitting for a couple years. But no, let’s just throw every rookie Quarterback out of the frying pan and into the fire. And then everyone acts surprised when they flame out or underperform expectations.
