I hope you consider changing the name of this wonderful video, so a novice like me can find it more easily. This is the best video about building a dim bulb tester. Thanks!
Not picking on you but I did a search on YT for a dim bulb tester and stopped counting after 100 videos showing how to build a dim bulb tester. As an engineer for the last 45 years, I have to say this is nothing new or novel. TV techs started making these back in at least the 1950's an probably earlier. It is not a bad thing to build or have but it only tells one that something is drawing way too much current. A variac and simple amp meter, clamp on or in series is what most of us have used for decades. I guess I am surprised at the excitement over this very basic design. When you flip a switch on any table lamp to on, you have in essence, created a dim bulb tester, less an opening in the circuit for plugging an outlet to supply some device which runs off of AC. And that is the down side to a DBT is it only tells one something is drawing excessive current and nothing more. I suppose, I find this kind of amusing in some way. Good luck !!
