The X-13 Vertijet was an amazing aircraft, far ahead of its time. Ryan aviation spent nearly a decade developing a Vertical Take-off and Landing aircraft. Their efforts resulted in the X-13 Vertijet. In 1957, the Vertijet managed the impossible. It took off vertically from a mobile launch platform, flew horizontally like a traditional jet, then returned vertically to the platform at the end of its flight. @AnyHistory
