Introverts don't lack confidence. Don't conflate somebody who has social anxiety as being the same as being an introvert.

I love confident introverts, mostly because I think that people usually don’t understand what being an introvert means. It’s not being shy and timid or hating people, is about how being around people drains your energy even if you like and love those people, and you need time alone to recharge, but you can be very confident and comfortable (in opposite to awkward) around people. We need more examples like Ryo to really make the point come across, because as an introvert I’m tired of all the incorrect assumptions that people make 😓

Ryo's confident enough to be her goofy self anytime. Having Bocchi in the show made it simple to show to difference between introverts too. 😃

This is extremely bassed. Ryo is definitely the kind of character that shows us all that to be confident, we just have to accept ourselves and be who we are without needing to 'impress' others. Let us all start eating grass jk

btw a common definition for introvert is being more comfortable being alone or with their own thoughts. its not having social anxiety. like an extrovert feeling more comfortable with others, its the opposite for introvert. but that doesn't mean extroverts feel anxiety being alone. they would just be bored.

Social anxiety and introversion are not the same thing. I, an introvert, love people and love meeting new people, I just get socially exhausted very quickly and need to recharge alone. Introvert don’t lack confidence, we just prefer some quiet.

Bocchi: is the introverts a person whose personality is characterized by introversion a typically reserved or quiet person who tends to be introspective and enjoys spending time alone. Note: Introverts are typically more comfortable interacting with small groups of people rather than large groups (as at parties). Kita: extrovert an aspect of a personality that is often characterized by expressive and outgoing patterns of behavior. People who are extroverts tend to be very talkative, sociable, active, and warm. Ryo: is omniverts who experience extremes in introversion and extraversion. Unlike ambiverts, omniverts have trouble balancing outgoingness and shyness. As a result, they can seem like they have a dual personality depending on the situation they're in. Nijika: is an ambiverts a person who has features of both an introvert (= someone who prefers to spend time alone) and an extrovert (= someone who prefers to be with other people) in their personality: Ambiverts are sometimes also called outgoing or social introverts.

Ryo is very high introversion, low neuroticism. Bocchi is high introversion, very high neuroticism. If anything I'd say she gets close to being ambiverted since she seeks human connection so much, it's mainly her neuroticism that causes her grief and makes her stay away from people.

I can relate to ryo. I'm 100% introvert but is not socially anxious or frightened to address people 🙂 I'm interested in doing seminars, can talk on stage and can interact easily among a crowd, but it drains me and being alone makes me comfortable and recharged.

People often forgot that introvert can be social too, there's a lot of social and lout introvert outhere including me but usually we just want to be part of something we want and we choose our interaction carefully. Thats why Ryo really resonate with me

So basically. Introversion is not wanting to talk to people because its draining and they'd rather be alone and Social anxiety is wanting to talk to people but can't because it's a fear but they still dont wanna be alone.

Being an introvert and being an anti social are not always related. The only difference between an extrovert and introvert in that regard is that one need time alone to recover and the other needs social interaction. You can be extrovert and anti social, which sucks. Needless that you can still love social interractions as a introvert. But you will probably need some days alone after that one big party. Don't let one trace of your personality dictate how you live

The other thing Ryo has that a lot of us (non-socially anxious) introverts have is that she's very capable of being chatty and such... when the topic interests her. She likes what she likes, and isn't really interested in doing things related to other stuff. If we liked more popular stuff, like the sports ball, hey, we'd be harder to distinguish from extroverts. But the short of it, the topic of conversation matters.

being an introvert in terms of socialization preference to the norm has nothing to do with traits like confidence/self-assurance. id suggest people to not try to emulate characters from anime, or any character at all, infact, trying to induce traits within oneself when one has limited understanding of the origins and implications of that personality trait is the least efficient way to achieve that certain headspace. keeping unnecessary romanticization to the minimum is crucial to avoiding the barnum effect. the obsession of anime people with these minor and ultimately unimportant traits is irrational, but ive been there too so i get it - when i was 12. in short - dont base your personality around this one small arbitrary trait. there is no 'introverts vs extroverts' competition. dont try to constantly self-validate yourself

Yeah its wrong to divide people/characters into just two groups. I could even argue that Bocchi herself is not an Introvert and just socially awkward extrovert which is her inner conflict, she wants people to acknowledge her, she wants people to compliment her playing, she wants to spend time with friends, but she has no idea how to get all those things. Actually this is why I find her so relatable, because I dealt with similar problems (only missing the fact I was only mediocre on guitar). You're right that people usually misinterept introverts as being "shy, socially anxious, lonely". Even if you search "anime introverts" in google you get those characters you stated at the start of the video.

this was a nice video! i love the idea of unconventional introverts as too often they're boxed into the same type of characters (get it? boxed? bc bocchi gets... nevermind) also side note but i also think okabe is an introvert? i percieved him as one at least, i always thought it was just the facade that made him come off as confident but he did strike me as an introvert for the most part also some of the comments are kinda mean i dont think you're saying introverts are inherently lacking in confidence just that it's rare to see them portrayed like this

I am confident by my own but when I get into society I'd like to dissapear. Today I tryed to display my presentation with guitar but I just couldn't breath and my eyes got dark then I almost fainted and couldn't spell a word (we won't say that I couldn't even hold guitar). Also the problem is my personality type - it's impossible to me to get attached to anyone, I just don't care about others? because others don't care about me

what if i just have a deep inversion to emotional investments in personal relationships? im not socially anxious in any way, but id prefer if nobody got too close to me. is that considered introverted? or being autistic? im really not sure but my teenage years are full of antisocial memories i cringe at, followed by a couple of years in uni where i partied every other day and actively hung out/attended or set up social events, then i retracted into myself all of a sudden. very confusing even for myself. i dont wanna say depression because im not even sure whats going on right now and theres nothing to be even remotely depressed about

Ironically, I think that Bocchi is, as paradoxical as it may sound., an extrovert with social anxiety. Why? Because unlike Ryo or what people consider as "introverts" in general, she desires real-life, in person, social interaction TOO MUCH. She is always wanting it, thinking about finding people to talk to all the time.

So confident introvert = selfish jerk that constantly borrow money from friend that she will never repay (she only did repay bocchi because nijika literally forced her to do so) She isn't an introvert, she s literally just a weirdo that enjoy being called weirdo because she thinks this is cool and feel like that s how a rock star should act. (which is something that was literally stated both in anime and manga) Everything she does is pretty much for her own amusement even at the expend of others.

I'm a combination of Bocchi and Ryo's personality which makes me 2x worse than Bocchi. (I don't know how to explain it but I can be anxious when talking to people but also confident in debates in infront of class)

Sir please do a review of the magic that is bakemonogatari. If you haven't watched it yet, then go do that now. And if you're not sure about the 'correct' way to watch it then the answer is to watch it in the order they were released. That's how the author intended it. Because the first season that was published starts somewhere in the middle of the show's timeline, there are people that think the show should be watched based on the first things to happen in the timeline. Those people are wrong, watching it like that spoils so much stuff extremely early, and it'll take away the suspense and curiosity that builds up while watching

You're the first person online I saw who puta effort into actually pronounce the names correctly. This is a breath of fresh air after people who mispronounce them all the time I'm surprised you didn't notice that Bocchi herself is extremely extroverted.
