Takagi is the protagonist of the manga "Osu!! Karate Bu" previously the main character was Tadashi Matsushita, a first year member of the club, and the manga was more focused on comedy, but as the story gradually changed to a focus of battles, the main character was changed to Takagi Yoshiyuki, who is the captain of the karate club. Although the name of the manga is that, the series focuses on various martial arts and not just karate, as the series progresses and new arcs emerge with increasingly powerful enemies, Takagi begins to train with many different masters throughout of the series and from this he learns new martial arts and also ki techniques, at the end of the manga Takagi had mastered all the most powerful martial arts in history and also all the most powerful ki techniques that these arts possessed.
