Upgraded from an older 18v kit. ru-vid.comUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

I have the same drill I love it. I just used it to drill into 4500 psi foundation concrete and install some shelving. the drill performed flawlessly. love my Ryobi tools.

I left Ryobi for Kobalt a few years back. Now Lowes has changed the format on the batteries making my tools obsolete as after market batteries are extremely expensive. I am now tossing the Kobalt junk and going back to Ryobi who did not change their battery format even when switching from NiCd to Lithium. Good for you Ryobi.

I left Dewalt for the same reason. I have a ton of Dewalt 18V tools but I'm not buying into the new battery platform and the adapter doesn't work on all tools, plus it makes some tools huge.

Something to add, you can add even more power behind that drill by using the newer HP series batteries as both the tool and battery have extra contacts for more power delivery. The standard 4ah that kit comes with is a non hp battery so it doesn't have the extra contacts.

I recently got the R18PDBL-C55S 18V ONE+ BRUSHLESS HAMMER DRILL KIT (R18PDBL-0 Brushless Hammer with 2.5+5.0 AH batteries and charger). From day 1 the clutch does not engage! We tested it by holding the chuck and engaging the driver on driver setting, with eTorque seeing on 1 & Gear selector on 1, It's identical to eTorque setting 10 & Gear selection 2. I took it to the retailer who confirmed it was faulty and we tested the same on a demo model which on that low setting the clutch spun freely.

I just want to say that you are very good at making videos. You explain things with great and correct details. I am definitely looking forward to getting this drill now. I love Ryobi the most of all companies. When I got my first Ryobi I thought that they did not make there drills nearly as strong as Dewalt, but all the other features were better. Then when I looked up on amazon and found this drill, I totally was like “Ryobi is my favorite.” In conclusion I also like Ryobi and I think that you do very well on making reviews for tools. Keep up the good work.

I bought the brushless hammer drill kit for Black Friday which included a free tool (I chose the angle grinder). I already own the Ryobi SDS hammer drill and thought this new hammer drill would be comparable. The SDS drill is a freaking workhorse compared to the new brushless hammer drill. So the brushless hammer drill is replacing my everyday drill as it's a little smaller than the regular 18v drill. I'll use the hammer mode for large hole saws and in tight spaces where the SDS can't fit.

it's 30 minutes for the standard small batteries. the 4 amphour batteries do take longer but last much longer than the standard packs.
@homerepairtutortoolsgear1607
@homerepairtutortoolsgear1607 7 лет назад
+frozenwalkway thank you for clarifying. The battery still had 4 bars after doing the 1" masonry bit and 1 1/4" diamond hole saw tests. So it held the charge very well

By the way, I just bought this drill. The manual for the charger says the battery which is half that size takes 30 minutes. That one should take an hour.

I love the drill itself, it helped me install windows in my home with TapCons into Block. The CRAPPIEST part of this tool is the chuck which at this point won't come off the spindle to replace it. From day one, the only thing it held reliably was hex shank bits. Anything round, it slipped. Awesome torque and power, the weak link is the Chuck.

Hmm, doesn't include the depth gauge like the older brushed model... not even a place to put one on the inner screw-on handle piece. Not that I'd miss it much but some trade/uses might. It's a little disappointing that they went with the same weak LED again. It beats nothing and I like that they placed it on the base instead of the head (where it would create shadows), but in this day and age, a mere 1W LED could have been integrated over their lower powered LED for only a few cents cost difference. The difference in battery drain would be negligible.

I bought my 1st ryobi drill -light-sawzall - skill saw kit 20 years ago & my first Ryobi drill in 1994 when I was in industrial plant maintenance all the tools still work fine. But I did upgrade to lithium and it was worth the money. 2 weeks ago my drills chargers and batterys were stolen sadly a family member meth head) So I am upgrading as cheap as possible 74 years old disabled vet and won't wear any of the tools out in my life time. they are fine and beyond homeowners grade tools.

If you want your Li batteries to last, you don't use them below 2 bars on the indicator very often, It can cause the batteries to fail. I've had Li batteries for 4 years now and they still work strong.. If he let the battery die totally, it'll take longer.. If you charge them at 2 bars, they should last longer..
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews 6 лет назад
You're right - the 30 minute specification is for the 1.3Ah P102. The other batteries take quite a bit longer. Ryobi's 30 minute "fast charger" is actually on par with most other brands' regular chargers.

The manufacturer recommends to charge the battery before use. See Ryobi 18V Lithium-Ion Battery Pack P107/P108 Series Supplement included with the Operator's Manuals (One for the 18V Brushless Hammer Drill and The other for the 18 Volt Dual Chemistry Battery Charger) under the Section "Charging The Battery Pack" Where it's specified that the battery packs are shipped in low charge condition to prevent possible problems. THEREFORE YOU SHOULD CHARGE PRIOR TO FIRST USE... Greetings from the Caribbean Shore of PR, with my respects.
@mp-xt2rg
@mp-xt2rg 6 лет назад
jwong19 lithium batteries do not require any special cycling. Your thinking of nickel cadmium and nickel hydrides. They do require special cycling to maintain full capacity. Lithiums have over charge/fire issues but that's handled by the onboard charge controller. Long story short if you pull the trigger and it turns your good. When it suddenly shuts off charge it. Pull it off and throw it back on the charger whenever you want without consequence.

Get a spray bottle to keep your water in. Works great. @11:31 I have the P214 hammer drill and the thing likes to let go of bits. Out of all the Ryobi tools I have it's the one I've not been overly happy with. Hearing this tool also likes to let go of bits makes me wonder if hammer drills aren't better left to higher end tools. Though I've put a fair amount of work on my P214 (Retro fitting latches/locks on 100 storage doors) and it will get some tough work done.

C I they do different things. Hammer drill taps back and forth lengthwise to push bits through concrete and such like a chisel. Impact driver taps in a circular motion along the bit rotation to twist and torque screws and bolts easier like a ratchet.

I was a PROUDly boastful ridgid tools owner until my BRUSHLESS GEN 5X hammer drill (which sucks ass) burned out on me while drilling a hole through concrete to run some power for some lighting. The Slab was 9 inches and I was only going about an inch deep for the tapcon. To my surprise after a full year and a half it burned out. I Never covered the cooling holes, never dropped it. never beat it up. It failed me and I learned that it is nowhere near as powerful as the 4GEN Brushed Hammerdrill. THE Ridgid GEN5X hammer drills suck.

Replaces standard drill, yes. It is a standard drill with the added hammer mode for masonry. Impact driver, depends. It has a lot of torque so its going to drive lag screws and such with ease, but is a bit bigger in the hand. Right now at home depot they are offering a free tool with the package deal... As low as low goes. If you do it on high it will bog down and stop working. I learned this the hard way. I was able to mix thinset mortar on low after figuring that out, but a few days later the motor crapped out. Don't do it unless you're still under the 3 year warranty. I found a replacement motor but the best price was 80-90 +tax and shipping.
