*100% best **Generater.Systems** I have used. A test for hurricane prep here in Louisiana: three AC units, 5000, 5000 & 8000, 3 fridges, 2 device power setups, 4 flat screens....AND I had 40% of the power meter to spare.*
This one is really great. It's so quiet we kept it in the bedroom of our camper and ran it all night to power our computers. Kept the room cozy too. Unfortunately, it killed us and I'm writing this from the other side.
Thanks for the review .. I just got my Ryobi 2300 delivered today. Also bought the heavy 10/3 Yellow Jacket extension cord to feed the house. Cheers ...........
I picked up a refurbished one of these from Home Depot. No instructions or spark plug wrench, but it looked clean and ready to go. Got it home and tried to start it. No go. After going through several videos on fixing generators, I still couldn’t get it running, but then I noticed the stepper motor. It’s a secondary air intake control that will close the vent to the motor via Bluetooth. The question that needed to be answered for me (and maybe this is in the missing set of instructions) how do you reset that valve after the Bluetooth app has closed it? (And thereby shutting off the power to the stepper motor) You take off the cover and move it back manually. That corrected the problem and the generator ran like a champ. All in all, I’m really happy with this thing. Just remember that if you shut it off via Bluetooth, it might not startup unless you move that stepper motor valve back.
@@surftx11 not sure exactly where inside (difficult to relay via text), but just turn the main control knob back to its original position after shutting off via Bluetooth. Then follow the procedure for normal startup after a length between runs.
Someone loaned me one of these after a storm last march when the power went out. I used it to power the internet + TV and some lights which really helped the kids make it through 5 days of power outage. I loved it so much that I bought one. I also convinced a relative to buy one as well and they love it too. I never thought the BlueTooth would be such a useful feature but it's fantastic.
the internet can't be powered; it's not a device but is it what we call the communication between computers. So it is a connection, which cant be powered... only used (connected to).
this is a decent generator. it's quiet, and fine for running furnace and a few other things. once you put 60-70% load on it though it's a bit louder and has consumption goes up. still for $500 it's good in a pinch...
So I just bought one, but not this exact one; the $550 version; I "step" down. Mine will NOT start. I noticed you spoke about too much oil; is it possible that it will NOT start due to too much oil? I did use some gas I already had in the can I use for my lawn mower. I went and got some 93 octane with stabilizer to completely fill it. No idea?!? Thanks!
For those that come here looking at the 2300bt. I have one and a 2200 the older version. The 2200 is a tank. It is 10 years old and still going. I have had to fix it a few times. Mainly valve adjustments. put it up against the Honda any day. There are videos showing the Ryobi starting and running a 13k BTU RV AC and the Honda has issues. I do believe the new Hondas will. I have the 2300 for just over 3 years. it had the pull cord break. If you get one watch for that. It rubs up against something. Seems to be a hit and miss problem. They seems to have the same motor as the Yamaha inverter Gens. I parallel the two. I just bought another 2300 since the 2200 is getting old and it will be relegated to backup. I tailgate and these Gens get a work out every weekend.
It appears to be well made. Westinghouse recommends a 5 hour break in period at 50% load. The included picture was taken during this break in period. I tested it with gas and then propane, and it ran well. I haven't yet tested it under full load, but will update this review if problems are encountered.
can confirm compared to normal generators this thing is stupid quiet. like id had no problem at all starting it at 10 at night in my neighborhood its that quiet
Stabilizer is for any kind of gas. I don't know who told you that! The $20 a gallon gas people buy at HD or Lowes has stabilizer already in it. People need to quit blaming Ethanol/Gas for all their problems.
I am looking up at reviews for this generator while in the middle of the winter storm hitting Houston. I have some questions that hopefully someone may be able to answer for me. I am looking to purchase this for my apartment in case we are ever left without power in the freezing temperatures again. I came to my parents house because they at least have a gas stove, but in the event I am unable to drive next time i need an alternative. My questions are: -How much run time would I expect to get out of this running a small portable heater, lets say a 1500 watt heater. ( just for the living room) -Why is it recommended to keep at least 20 ft from your house? I was thinking of running it from our balcony on the second floor. Would this be a bad idea?
I have similar questions. I'm in San Antonio. I think it would be OK on the balcony. I'm buying a good carbon monoxide detector with this generator to put closest to the door leading to our balcony. Going to run a space heater, fridge, WiFi, and tv on this generator. I'm storing about 10 gallons of gas. Will do a test run to see how much run time I get from a full tank. Good luck to you!
I’m in the same boat y’all are in. We’re in Palacios, on the coast. The freeze hit us hard. Lights & water out from Sunday to Friday. Fortunately it looks like several area Home Depot’s have this model in stock. Wondering about the non-ethanol gasoline. How available is it?
It would run about 10 hours on a full tank of gas. You need to make sure it is far enough from your home that the fumes will not kill you. Also doors and windows closed so fumes don't get in. Lots of info on the internet that can provide info on that.
I can give you a 6week review.. Ran good for 3 weeks then it was down hill from there. Three words, don't buy one.. I've had many generators, for the money I rate this one low.. I took it back..
The blue tooth seems pointless to me, you dont need any of that stuff really. Would be nice if it had auto start so you dont have to go out and start it manually!
No, please don't do that, thats how people die from carbon monoxide poisoning during power outages. Purchase long multple socket extension cords and plug in essentials. For instance keep a refrigerator running, run a washing machine, use an A/C or just charge electronics, small appliances.
yes. In general, all Ryobi engines are designed to burn fuel that is no more than 10% ethanol. Ryobi warns against using E85 or anything higher in their engines.
If I was going to spend 650 dollars for a home generator for power outages, for that much money you can buy a open frame inverter generator that puts out 3500-4000 watts of power that would be almost double the wattage of this Ryobi, and not really use that much more gas since the larger engine could stay in a Eco mode and not put out that much more noise than the Ryobi since the engine would run at a lower RPMs , while the Ryobi motor would be screaming under load running at high RPM once some real power demand was put on it, The only thing the Ryobi would have over the more powerful open frame would be it is about 20 lbs lighter ,easier to move around and store since it is smaller in size. but if you wanted a small one like this, there are much better values out there in this price range ,I wouldn't pay more than 500 dollars for one this size unless it was a used Honda or Yamaha somebody was selling because Ryobi isn't that great of a brand to command a premium price that is 150 dollars more than the other low tier brands,
These are crap. DO NOT BUY. My brother and I each bought one of these back in March 2020. His never ran, days after buying it he was told he could not return it at Home Depot and he’s still waiting for his to get back from the repair dealer. I tried mine after letting it sit in the box for weeks. Mine ran fine for 20 min or so. I thought “cool” I’m out of the woods. NOPE. After it ran I emptied out the gas, had it in storage for a few weeks. Power outage come along “cool” I have a generator, but guess what it doesn’t run. It only “runs” with the choke on. Obviously unusable. Pay another $400 and get yourself a Honda instead.
