We have an absolutely huge hardware store in my neck of the woods , and the tool section they have rows and rows and rows of different brand power tools , also with a vast variety of battery powered ones , and they have a range of low to medium to high cost and quality tools , , and to me ryobi appears to sit in about the middle of the range for home handyman type stuff , but it never ceases to amaze me how much imagination and innovation ryobi puts into their products, and that’s why I am a fan of the ryobi gear . And this utterly brilliant and versatile stand is just a perfect example of ryobi constantly coming up with new ideas.

C'mon Ryobi 18V Laser Level! We can hope, right? They need more hybrid devices. It's cool to have more options than just the 18V battery. Edit: they need to make some of the larger tools (like this) compatible with the Link system for storage! Have a leg that has the link pocket on it to hang on the link system would be cool!

@anthonybarker9123
@anthonybarker9123 Месяц назад
Yes and no. The light has a Power supply and DC/DC converter to run the 18v stuff off of 120AC/40vDC. I would be very surprised if it could handle much more than a couple of amps @18v. So it will *technically* run the drill, but if you put it under any load at all it will probably either shut off power or fry the supply.

Couldn't you put a 18v drill on top, basically inserting the entire tripod into the drill like a battery would be inserted? I believe that's what the original comment was joking about.
@anthonybarker9123
@anthonybarker9123 Месяц назад
@@ifThenelseEnd Yes, the drill could be attached to the top (the same way the right-angle ratchet was) and would run. The issue is that it would pull too much power under load. Think about it like this. You could replace your car battery with 8 AA batteries. You could probably even get it to turn the accessories on (engine computer, interior lights, etc) for a little while) But the instant you tried to start the engine the batteries would go flat. Same thing with the tripod. It can provide the Voltage just not the current for high-demand stuff (inflators, vacumes, all those single speed high draw devices)

Honestly I would of preferred 40v saws to this, like a 40v recip or circular saw would make so much more sense. Or a dual power 18/40v table/miter saw or dual power vacuum that uses either 2x18v or 40v to run. I think making one product that supports both battery platforms, whether it's like this and uses a step down to 18v, or uses dual 18v batteries or 1 40v battery, is the way for them to go on all but the biggest 40v tools

One cool thing about Ryobi and Ridgid is that they test out most of their future or out there ideas for Milwaukee products forst in the lower cost lines. It allows them to test the market and refine the products from real world feedback before introducing them in theor higher end lines. That means the average homeowner or tradesperson can get a lot of quality innovation without them having to commit to the higher ticket price items from Milwaukee.

You could set up nine or ten of these, all with different functions at the top, powered by a 40 watt pack on each tripod. 3 for the cameras, 3 for high temperature light (5000 kelvin), 2 for warm light (2700 kelvin), one for amber (2200 kelvin), and one for whatever other function or as a spare

If RYOBI does not build this, I may ask my son to help me build some and we use an Arduino with Bluetooth so we can Daisy Chain up to 10 of these. We could use them for synchronized video shooting from multiple angles using warless mics or use them for a spread at a Yard Party, each with Bluetooth Speakers, Party Lights and cameras for getting shots to put on the big screens behind the stage. Eveyone dogs on Ryobi so carzy bad. I bought a full set of 18v tools when we moved up into the foothills on a 10 acre rance. Obviously my corded tool were not going to work well with 900' of extension cords. So far, the whole set has been flawless except 1 single 18v battery that sometimes charges and sometimes works and sometimes drains in minutes. I really need to toss it, but it does work...sometimes. I have literally left some if these tool outside in tne rain, lost for weeks. When I found them, I figured they were toast. Nope, they still work just like they always did, perfectly. They got some weather fading for sure, but id expect that. Maybe they can make a UV blocking set of impact wrenches for us old farts that forget where we leave shit. These tools get used, abused, and re used and sometime they do things they were not designed to do. Who hasnt used the bottom of the battery as a hammer, I mean, C'mon. Dont lie. Regarding rotating the head horizontally, did you try loosening the upper clip on the tube extension and twisting the tube to get it to rotate? Just because the head doesn't rotate horizontally doesn't mean the tube itself won't twist and thus rotate the head. There may be limitations due to the power running up the inside of the tubes.

When you brought out the radio and bug zapper, I knew I needed two. Then if you gonna get two, might as well get a third, right? Brilliant job on the product team.

We must understand this is the first iteration of an idea. Later on, you can expect an adapter that allows you to mount two or three tools at the top, as well as other things like a laser leveler, or even a way to water your lawn. who knows?

That’s pretty cool, So if you don’t have an 18v battery charged this kind of acts as a converter to go from 40v to 20v too. That definitely seems like it would be handy.

I like it... it's innovative and it allows the consumer to experiment and find different ways to use it. I can see myself putting the battery jump starter on this thing and having an easy to adjust battery starter that's got unlimited power when plugged in. I'm just not sure if the cables would be long enough, they are very short. On a side note, Clint I really like my alien probe..... uh... I mean Skil 2.0 cordless screwdriver. It has really won me over. Thanks again for giving us all opportunities to win your giveaways! Now giveaway the TRIPOWER....lol joking.

Needs an attachment for a fairly large shade. Be great to have some shade when doing sprinklers and other outdoor jobs in the summer time.

I love ryobi. I work around the house, and they work great. Even on a serious job, they keep up. The QC is so much better, while dewalt falls behind😂.

Yeah, I'm throwing my Ryobi boom box on there - dang I love that thing. Best 80 bucks ever spent, it's loud enough to make the neighbors angry. Put it 8 feet above the ground and maybe I can annoy the neigbs on the next block too lol

Ryobi has to come up with 18v 6 port Simultaneous fast charger… I made 2 sets of 6 chargers work really good for emergency and camping stuff but bulky to carry around

Just a shame they cannot make a replacement blade that fits their lawnmower. Went to Home Depot and bought a blade for my 20- inch 40- volt Ryobi lawnmower. Got home removed the blade from my mower and attempted to install the new blade. Nope does not fit. You would think a 20- inch lawnmower would require a 20- inch blade, nope it requires a nineteen and one- half inch blade. I worked for a local school district doing grounds maintenance for thirty -five years, I have replaced a blade or two. I gave the mower away and went to Lowes and bought a Kobalt mower and I love it.

Jeeze Louis, and I 🤔 thought I was a goof..... Though it is neat, I will say that.. I'm a DeWalt guy, though I've still some got some 18 volt Ryobi stuff, and Even the 40v weed Wacker as well . I love the 18v Ryobi impact gun, that I got on some Home Depot sale.. It's still my go-to for all manner of screw driving....

I'm sure Ryobi not Reeobi will now update the model with a multi angled head now that you've mentioned it. Whilst I can get just moving the unit in a different position, why make multiple moves when you can just turn a head unit . I like the idea!

I used Ryobi tools for years professionally until somebody put a Makita in my hand. they are better balanced, smoother operation and the batteries last a bit longer. I have always though that Ryobi tends to build de Walt type tools. Makita did it differently from other makers. I would love to see Ryobi model some products that are more Makita like tools. I will never speak badly about Ryobi, and I still have a cash of them

I actually thought it was going to be a solar attachment up top to charge your batteries with a reverse charge button which would have been extra cool.

I wonder if they have a laser that came out to this, that’s probably why they have the bubble on the bottom of the tripod. I’m on the DEWALT® platform, but I still think this is super innovative and something other companies should take note of.
