Ryobi Stick Vacuum Review

The updated 2021 version has no issues. All the issues are fixed. Also there is added a brush on off switch.

My understanding with higher vs lower amp hour batteries is that they both have the same power, the difference is that the higher ones last longer per charge.

If only there were a way to increase the vacuum's storage container's size. Vacuums used to have big storage bags/containers for collecting debris. Maybe someone could 3D print a bigger vacuum storage container for these kinds of Ryobi vacuums or have some kind of 3D printed attachment for a bag. Then you wouldn't have to empty out the collected debris nearly as often like how vacuums traditionally did it.

Although this vacuum has a brushless motor, it comes with the regular 4 AH battery rather than the 4 AH HP battery that is optimized for Ryobi's line of brushless tools. My only HP battery is the 9 AH version which does well in my brushless grinder. Other batteries don't work as well in that application. I would have much preferred the vacuum, which has the additional electrical contacts for HP batteries, being supplied with a 4AH HP battery so I could get better performance from my other brushless Ryobi tools.

It seems they've upgraded since your review. I just bought one new. There's a button to turn the brush off.

use the first gen works great. to clean up rugs at work small size helps. but the connection points get wiggle after time.

I would use that to vacuum up cat hair even off the floors without carpet works alot better then sweeping… cat hair drifts up in the air all over the place sweeping… thanks for your review on the stick vacuum.

Hey not sure if you’ll see this but you should review the new version of this it looks more compact and easier to use but also a bit different at the same time.

Wow. Mine didn’t come with a filter at all. I thought it was incredibly stupid not to filter the air being drawn into the body of the unit, but now it makes sense. I guess now I have to clean the innards out and buy a filter.

I’ve had two and the power head didn’t last for more than a few uses. One stopped turning (even after cleaning) and another had an end cap fuse together from friction.

House is looking good brother. I’m gonna have to get that stick vacuum, I have a dyson, and I am not impressed with it at all

It'd be nice if it came with a flexible hose that attached to the vacuum body.

That filter you said "if you don't have it, get it" does it come with the vacuum and if not where do you get it?

Thanks for the great review. Just wondering if you noticed any more power while using the HP batteries? Here in Australia the kit comes with a 4.0ah regular battery. While we also receive the wall mount, we are given a regular Ryobi battery charger, not a built in wall charger.

You say Hp is designed for brushless but my same vacuume does not have the 4 connectors like the drills do. Why? Also did you know regular shop vac hoses fit the hole.

i had high hopes for this vac until we tried to pick up kitty litter. Yikes! As soon as we turned off the motor it all fell out on the floor. I guess it couldn't make it up the long shaft. Also, cleaning hair out of the roller was a real pain. We returned it after 2 days

Which model is this one? I definitely want the one that has the part that blocks the filter from being clogged. Also, which vac were you saying not to buy for shag carpet?

What do the lights indicate? When it turns red on the brush head, when it turns blue/green/yellow.

I gave the manual for this vac a look over and can't help but wonder about the manufacturer. The manual I have is the 7th revision so it's not their first rodeo. On page 2 headed IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS, it says to always remove the battery pack when it's not in use. Really? An Evercharge? It also says to ensure the switch is in the off position when connecting a battery pack. I'd like to know just how one would do that. Figure 3 shows an on/off button and on page 5 they refer to an on off button. It's a momentary contact "switch" without on or off positions. Revision 7. Really? Amateur hour Ryobi.

I only got 1 washer with the wall mount unit & 2 screws guess what the washer Is too big to use.

You have a kitty too? I would love that vacuum but I've read so many times that the filter clogs too fast. I know the screen helps, but the fine dust still goes into the paper filter and clogs it. I wish it were a cyclonic vacuum, I'd buy it in a second.

Is that stick vacuum safe to use on hardwood floors? Would the rotating brush mare the hardwood floor?

So on the new Milwaukee stick vacuum, it has a power head attachment which works by sending voltage through the extender attachment to the head. Does this Ryobi do this as well? Or does it just spin the head with the natural suction on the vacuum? Thanks, and keep up the great videos.

After having owned the Ryobi stick vac for 7 months now, I can't recommend it in any way. I love the One+ range of tools generally, I have around 30 Ryobi One+ tools - but this one is terrible. The fatal issue it has is the brush head. The bearing on the belt driven side of the head overheats and eventually ceases up completely. I thought it was just a manufacturing fault with my particular one, so took it back and replaced it, but now the replacement has started doing the same thing. On top of this my wife finds it too heavy to use comfortably, so I end up doing all the vacuuming. It does choke up with dust quite quickly even with the mesh filter, but most stick vacs do in my experience, and it's pretty easy to empty and clean out with some compressed air. The brush reel in the head cannot be removed easily for cleaning, requiring a screwdriver and 3 screws to do so, so again I'm the only one who ever cleans the brush. The rest of the unit is fine, suction is pretty decent and it is sold - but it's fatally flawed unfortunately. I will be taking mine back for a full refund this week and purchasing something else to replace it.

I bought this one at Home Depot and while it works ok for one battery charge that came in the box. If you have a problem, like a missing battery charger, which I did hmmmmm. Called Ryobi they said to call HD who said call Ryobi. Round and round, several calls, trying to do the honey vs. vinegar bit to no avail. HD connected me to Ryobi, who connected me to 3 other people "who could help me." I kept my cool until the end (a loooooong time) when Nicole said about 5 times that I will "have to find out where to buy a charger." Oh, and kept telling me to call Home Depot. Will not buy ANYTHING from Roybi again. I mean, where is HD on this? They insist it's Ryobi. Ended up just getting so furious, frustrated and now have a $248 worthless pice of bright green plastic with a heavy dead battery connected to it. OH, will wait for another day to "have to find out where to buy a (missing) charger."

Friendly advice. Write a script, learn the part names, remove pointless clips of you just sitting there trying to get a thumbnail, stay on topic and actually review the tool instead of just saying it sucks.

Mate that's the old one not new one and by tae way that battery is not the high performance battery
