You know, it feels like Kuze's boss fights have a very clear flow to them. The first one is basically him underestimating kiryu and paying for it with his pinky. From there on he has to rely on either weapons or numbers until this fight, where he's finally gotten far enough to get his shit together and face off one-on-one with Kiryu for a final time.
There three things i love about this fight : 1: the street is totally deserted, i mean, this is Kamurocho we're talking about here, so you know the high stakes that this fight holds, no, one would even witness if Kuze won the fight and executed Kazuma right there, so you can't fail for nothing. 2: how the music changes, and brings home that this is the last fight about them, and everything that happened between those two will end with this this brawl. 3: his fight style also changes, he's either too desperate to win, or too reckless to even care anymore, its the final battle so whatever may be he's not holding back on anything, his nemesis must go down. fortunately it doesn't , Kuze should packed his shit and vanished after the second fight, but it wouldn't be fun if he actually did it
I love how you think about things deeply. I totally agree, I especially love how the music here changes to a sadder/calmer one, it just has that sad/parting tone, like this is really the last fight between them. But yeah, this soundtrack only plays for this fight (i think so at least), which makes it unique.
Hahaha i think deeply about stuff because my main occupation is writing fiction, so 'im always seeing things from a writers perspective i mean its like : "Why i would make this important? why it would be this way?" the universe of stories i work on was positively influenced by RGG and i owe a lot to this series for that, i taught me a lot about building drama and intensity and that a marvelous story can have violence and not lose its beauty. ( unlike some people think) Thats why this is my favourite gaming series ever since the first game on PS2. i mean if you can't feel SOMETHING after playing through all of those events you're not human.
I never knew you were a writer and that this game influenced you so much! That's really something interesting :D You don't see many people learn something good out of videogames, especially not from epic games like Yakuza. Yeah, this series easily because one of my favorites, if not THE favorite.
After you get to know Kazuma and the other protagonists from this series is difficult not to learm good stuff from them, they're all good hardworking people in their own way, Kazuma is pretty much one of the NICEST protagonists of the gaming universe EVER, see how he will help anyone, no matter how small or big their problem might be, he has always something to share, is very simple and always means well. He's even willing to forgive people if they show the slighest hint of redemption no matter what they've done. He might be a little rough on the edges and it's not very outspoken about anything. but he's a honorable man. and i love that about him. Course he's a anti-hero, but doesn't mean he has to be a brooding jerk. Kazuma is cool, and people could learn more from him. From a writer standpoint Nagoshi team's was right on when they created him, they couldn't have done it better.
Let's put it this way: when you have a characther that can both fight nasty criminals and run an orphanage like a legitimate installation, without running some scheme and really doting and caring for the kids there to the point they all feel like you're family to them, when REAL yakuzas acknowledge the fact that he is "How the yakuza used to be" , you know you've got a wonderful character in your hands. I think all the fans of the series want to get older like Kazuma does, haha
Holy shit... this music gave me the chills! It's so epic... BTW what happens to Kuze after this fight? Does he just give up and disappears for the rest of the game?
devilleon7 Ah, I see... BTW, do you know anything about his backstory? Like, why he is after Kiryu everytime... I ask because I find it odd that a guy, who seems to be on his 40s/50s, has either a rivalry, or a grudge against a young Kiryu...
Lyu Kang Kuze was the de facto second in command of the Dojima Family before Kiryu leaving Dojima Family. He was the first people to pressure Kiryu into betraying his adopted father and later cut his own little finger after his failure in getting Kiryu to betray his adopted father.(requested by the family leaders)
Kuze fights Kiryu the first time with his glasses on, gets rekt. Kuze takes off his glasses the second time and attempts to beat Kiryu with a pipe, gets rekt Kuze's glasses flies off his face by kiryu's punch to the face, gets rekt by him AND NISHKI. Kuze the fourth time, "Fuck it ill leave my bent up, cracked glasses on the table." Meets with Kiryu, Kiryu: Whats in your pocket? Kuze: Oh just a tool i ordered online to help me defeat you. Kiryu: What is it this time? Kuze: War God Talisman >:) Still gets rekt Kuze: yep, fuck it, im not appearing in the story anymore, i quit
I so want the kuze everywhere system, you walk into a beef bowl store and hear “KIRYUUUU” in the distance, then when kiryu finishes eating kuze crashes through a glass wall on a bike and eats shit, and half way through kuze starts furiously eating beef bowls and you have to do a QTE to stop him regenerating heat/health, or majima gets you to meet him at the docks for a fight, and halfway through kuze comes out of the ocean wearing scuba gear holding a harpoon, and him and majima team up on kiryu.
1:32 I wanna assume Kiryu says this line later in the series as somewhat of a remembrance thing. I think Kuze says "Come at me like you wanna kill me!" here, which Kiryu says in at LEAST 5 (in the English Trailer)
Hopefully Kuze will be back in future titles, if not the developers need to find a new match up for kiriyu, Nishki is off the list and i know people are going to say majima, but i would really like someone with the same personality as Kuze :) Just finished the game even tho i dont understand anything, i had a blast xD btw devilleon, been watching you sins late 2015. Keep up the work :) love the videos
Considering there's 5 games worth of chronological events after this where Kuze is not present, it's pretty unlikely that he would be brought back into the limelight. He DOES seem pretty interesting, though.
I kinda wished that Kuze could have been the final boss for Yakuza 0. It seems more sufficient .Since Kiryu fights him multiple times through out the game.Like Kuze said they were destined to fight eachother. or at least i think he said that
It has been a while so I can't be so certain, but I think a translation I read/watched had Kuze say just before this fight that this will be his last chance to stop Kiryu, which sort of contradicts that statement. And though Kuze was definitely a compelling antagonist, he never seemed to have that edge for me that said he was FB material.
Kuze only fights Kiryu because he made him lost his power and rank within the dojima family. They're not predestined, he just seek vengeance and power. He goes to jail after this fight. Shibusawa is the perfect one for this adventure cause he takes all the responsability for Dojima actions and wants to proove his title of Dragon of Dojima
