I'm really sorry to break it for you, but in reality Battisti didn't wrote his own lyrics, a very famous Italian author did it for him, I believe his name was Mogul. Still Battisti always did great arranging Mogul's lyrics in music.

Il numero uno della musica italiana!!! Ha completamente rinnovato la musica ed influenzato tutti gli artisti italiani, i testi delle sue canzoni sono entrati nel patrimonio e nei modi di dire in Italia. PURTROPPO è venuto a mancare nel 1998 a 55 anni. GENIO ASSOLUTO.
Ascolto tanta musica anglosassone, preferendo normalmente generi e gruppi degli anni '70. Gruppi come Led Zeppelin e Pink Floyd, tra i tanti. Non ho però difficoltà a riconoscere anche Battisti come un gigante; l'italiano preferito senza possibilità di confronti. Musica trascinante, voce incisiva e gli straordinari testi di Mogol. Senza i testi si perde molto e questo certamente penalizza il duo Battisti-Mogol all'estero, salvo forse nei paesi latini. Complimenti all'autore di questo canale che ha capito l'importanza di includerli per un artista come Battisti. Vale la pena ascoltare molti altri brani; a me piacciono tutti e ce ne sono tantissimi migliori anche del brano in oggetto. Basti pensare che sono bellissimi anche i brani che lasciava ai Formula 3 e che però sono meglio se ne esiste una sua versione (si pensi a La folle corsa). C'è anche tanta varietà nelle musiche e nei testi; mai avuto la sensazione di monotonia come invece tanti gruppi di fama mondiale, che però alla fine suonano sempre la stessa canzone (questo successe in particolare con molti gruppi degli anni '80).
Italian songs are 50% beautiful if you only listen to the music, words are always important in Italy. Lucio Battisti did so much beautiful deep songs , but not only him, Patty Bravo example is a big italian artist too, or Mattia Bazar, Zucchero, Mina.
Si è soliti dire che la lingua italiana non sia propedeutica alla musica leggera, come invece l'inglese. Poi ascolti il duo Battisti-Mogol e non trovi una sola riga di testo che non funzioni perfettamente con musiche pienamente appaganti.

Funfact: Lucio Battisti made and English version of this album for the USA audience. But It didn't work. Maybe it's just not that good in English, but they say his metrics wasn't not pleasant for USA's taste. I heard only this song in its English version and to me is just weird.
