Steve was leaving the show to explore some new opportunities, so yes, in a way it was more than just the characters saying goodbye, it was Maurice and Steve saying goodbye to each other. The actors let their own feelings shine through, which made this scene all the more real and genuine! This is GH acting at its finest!
Maurice and Steve have some of the best chemistry on television! Gotta love each and every scene these two every did (and will do) together! This is exactly why I watch GH
OMG! I loved that raspy 'don't you die on me', repeating what was said when Sonny left but more emotional because now it's Sonny who has to say goodbye and he's not as accepting as Jason.
I agree with this completely! GH has always had a powerhouse acting cast, yet they are always being short-changed for flashy action or crisis. This cast can do wonders if the writers would just finally put the real heart and soul back into GH's storylines. MB and SB's always had an amazing connection with each other, and even when the writing is completely wrong and pitting their characters against each other, they still keep that bond alive in through their eyes.
@greysanatomy07100 Sonny may not have wanted her but that didn't stop him from being JEALOUS everytime he saw them together after she was pregnant and especially after she lost the baby

I almost cried at the "you are the only father I'll ever have." line. This was such a sweet scene. I loved them back then. When the writing was good and they actually acknowledged their friendship. Both did amazing in this scene. As a JC/SC fan, I love to hear these two talk about Carly. Especially early on, when Jason was always pushing Sonny to see what he saw in Carly. Jason is the reason of 2 of the best couples in Soap history. thanks for the clips!
@skjmjtaw20 u've missed the point. he cant luv carly t/way carly wants BECAUSE of t/way she needs 2 punish him when he does something she doesnt like. 4 instance, she slept w/sonny b/c she saw jason dancing w/liz. she didnt stop 2 ? jason...she just went straight n2 crazy mode. then she held michael over his head. when he was distant she would reel him n w/michael. when he wouldnt do what she wanted she would hold michael away...j cant trust her w/his heart, so he wont luv her the way she wants.
jason left town b/c he couldn't deal with the betrayal of sonny and carly. He just had to get away for a while..and yes sonny put aj on a meat hook and forced him to sign parental rights over to sonny..so sonny adopted michael..
fashguru07 Jason left because he felt his presence in Michael’s life was confusing him. He also went looking for the evidence to prove AJ was behind the warehouse fire that cost Jason full custody of Michael. He found the guy AJ had hired to burn down the warehouse and got him to sign a statement to the facts. He sent the evidence back to Sonny who used it to blackmail AJ into giving Carly an uncontested divorce and full custody of Michael. It was this or go to prison. A J did not want Michael badly enough to risk it. It was the existence of this evidence that kept AJ from trying later to get custody back.

So he forgave Sonny for sleeping with his girlfriend and Carly eventually but held a grudge against Robin for years for tell AJ he's Michael's real father (when she wasn't eve. the reason he lost Michael) Carly slept with sonny out of spite, yet Jason fans are mad at Robin cause they feel she told AJ out of spite. It annoys me of the hypocrisy how Robin "betrayal" compared to all his other relationship was mild, but she got punished the worst and fans only hate her over Jason, but let this be in reversed and she did this to AJ and told Jason he was Micheal's father people would not have the same energy. I just don't get why Jason can find grace for Sonny and Carly but anybody else they mess up once and he's done with them.
if jason did let michael go and aj was raising him how did aj ended up loosing his son?was it sonny who got michael away from the Q's.did jason wanted to leave town for getting away and moving on after robin left for paris for the story thats why jason left
@50patrice no i get what u saying but i still hope that one day the writers will fix this.one thing about carly is that she love her kids and she would sick by jason for anything yeah she can be a little crazy but.even when she thought jason shot her father she was mad but she told him she would stand by him. and jason put her and the kids first because of the promise he gave michael when he was a baby.he might not trust her with his hear but he did love her.even if he didnt show it a lot.
C VIRGO He could never have taken Robin away from her family and friends. She would have been miserable. And then there was her illness. The meds she had to take were not the normal run of the mill prescriptions. Anyone trying to track them would have been able to do it easily just through her meds. And do you really think Mac would have gone along with it? Jason could leave on his own because he went traveling. He was smart enough to lose himself but he could never have done it with Robin. And staying in Port Charles would not work. It didn’t when they tried later.
@TrueTalkTV Great observation! I've always felt there was just a little something missing from the scene & you got it! It's the "I'm sorry" from Sonny. Did he -or Carly - ever say 'I'm sorry' to Jason for that night or was it just one of those implied things?
Sonny knows Carly better than Jason. Because Sonny would insult Carly and move forward. Because Carly always lies about everything to get whatever she wants.
i love jason and carly but if jason say he cant love carly the way she love him WHY was it that big of a deal when she slept with sonny. he loves carly and one day they will be back together
What is so crazy is this happened over twenty years ago and it is still true. There will never be a relationship as close as Sonny and Jason. I just wish that the show would not act as if Jaspm had not existed. He did exist until that horrible mouse fired him because of a damn shot. Will he be back. Lord, I hope so.
so do I! I wish he'd told her goodbye. She would've convinced him to stay, no question. I love them together. And even though I want them together, I'd rather have them be bff's so they'd never be seperated. Which is what happens to ALL "romantic" couples on soaps.
